Late night rendezvous for kingsguard!dunk and noble!reader??👀👀👀👀
dunk was beginning to believe he had fabricated the entirety of you the longer the night wore on.
it was always like this whenever you couldn't come on time. you would argue he was always too early, and he ought to change out of his armor to give you grace. yet he never listened. dunk was too eager for his own good, and ended up a huffing, puffing bear whenever you crossed the yard.
on this night, nothing had changed. his grip on his sword was bruising, his legs just about vibrating from uneasiness. then he heard it—quick, gentle steps crossing through the paved surface. he turned, exhaling deep once you came to view. you had your skirt lifted, slippers covering your delicate feet as you joined him under the moon and stars.
"they wouldn't allow me to leave," you whispered, apology buried under the excuse. dunk didn't care for it, not when you could finally escape duty between fleeting hours. he took you by your wrist, pulling you into him as he bent down for an overdue kiss. your eyes fluttered shut, body submitting to a man you shared with the dark.
your affection for one another had always been molten, binding in ways that honor wouldn't dare touch. he was a knight of the kingsguard, a man chosen by aegon the fifth and sworn to life. but he was also yours. under candlelight, hidden amongst the shadows and quiet corners.
nothing could take him from you, not while the hour of your control strung his mind and soul like a puppet.
when he parted from you, his other hand slid to cup the back of your head. his fingers tangled through your hair, almost as if holding you in place as he came down from a high he spurred for himself. your own had found the plate over his chest, wrist still cuffed by his fingers.
"forgive me?" you asked, gaze drooping with remorse. you may not have been of targaryen blood, but your service as a lady-in-waiting was demanding. most days, while spent attending to your princess, was filled with longing stares whenever dunk was near.
a deep sigh escaped dunk, both frustrated and forgiving.
"aye," he answered, voice quiet as he tilted his head to kiss you again. softer this time, shorter than the last. and still—not any less claiming.
you had only a moment to lean into him, arms wrapping around his armored body before he pulled back enough to rest his head against yours. this closeness was all he ever wanted; all he ever needed.
"drives me mad not having you as soon as the sun falls..." dunk confessed, nose brushing against yours.
"i try, my love." you were nearly pleading by now, even if you knew he truly wasn’t upset.
"i know."
your hands came to his face, fingers brushing back his rust-colored hair behind his ears. he fought weakly against it, head turning an inch before you moved him right back to you. his attempt made you laugh, the sound hushed and soothing.
it made his ears flush deeper, and if there was any part of you that hadn't been consumed with love, then it was now.
"can we go now?" another question spilled from you, wishing to not waste another second in the yard. it was secluded, yes, and still unsafe for you both.
dunk reached to take one of your hands, eyes unable to leave yours as his palm dwarfed you completely. only when he brought your palm to his lips did he look down. he was a man of few words, only speaking if he thought it necessary or required. years of practice and learning to better control his tongue.
you knew him, though; enough to understand what every touch and kiss meant. and you’d received the only answer you wanted.
soon you escaped into the gardens, spending another night in the warmth of dunk's arms.
my first kingsguard!dunk piece…i enjoyed this more than i thought i would? love this idea, thank you anon!!
