Marshmallows (1/1)
So this is a Good Omens Season 3 AU ficlet I wrote for @kingstoken as a holiday gift from holiday_wishes at Dreamwidth. I was given the prompt "Aziraphale makes Crowley a special cup of cocoa" and while I'm not sure this is what they meant, I hope they enjoy it nonetheless. Happy Holidays!
Marshmallows - Aziraphale finally admits he loves Crowley in a rather sweet way.
READ @ AO3
It was a cold night in So Ho, with snow falling softly to the ground outside of A. Z. FELL & Co. Not that that was unusual for December, but tonight was...special. It was the first Christmas after Aziraphale had become the First Principality of Heaven. The mess with the aborted “Second Coming” plan had been thwarted, and the two of them had settled, somewhat awkwardly, into old routines and old habits. Heaven and Hell had been left behind them, but this...this was all new as well. For once, they were truly on their own, without either side tugging at them.
It was new, and strange...and wonderful.
But Aziraphale had still held a part of his life away from Crowley. Or maybe it was just a phrase Crowley longed to hear, that the love Crowley had for him was reciprocated. Turning his back on Heaven once and for all and helping him thwart Heaven’s devious plan had been a sign, sure, but Aziraphale had not said the words, and Crowley was willing to let the daft angel take his time saying them because he loved him so.
But it still put a damper on things.
Aziraphale was puttering around, making them both cocoa. Crowley was by the window, watching the snow fall and waiting patiently for cocoa. He wasn’t the biggest fan of the stuff. But it was cozy and warm and Aziraphale loved the mini marshmallows in it ever so much, so Crowley would drink each cup, slowly but surely warming his own cold body up in the process.
“And here you go, one cup of cocoa,” he heard Aziraphale say, as Crowley turned his attention from the window to the angel he loved. Aziraphale held two mugs in his hands. “Four types of chocolate and whipped cream for me.”
“Not for me?” Crowley asked, a soft smile etching itself on his face as Aziraphale extended a hand holding a mug and Crowley took it.
“Not for you. Yours is...special.” Crowley raised the mug but Aziraphale’s eyes went wide. “Wait! Don’t drink it yet!”
“It’s cocoa, Aziraphale. It’s meant to be drunk hot.”
“No, but look at it! Please?”
Crowley sighed and looked down at his cup, and when he saw the marshmallows shaped in a heart his eyes widened. “Wha…?”
“I love you, Crowley. You’ve been so patient waiting for me to tell you, and I appreciate it. I just...today I thought about it and I felt like I needed to tell you, but I wanted to surprise you.”
“This is indeed a surprise,” Crowley said, looking up at his angel. His angel, who loved him as much as Crowley loved him. He raised the cocoa to his lips and took a sip, taking the bottom half of the heart in his sip. There was four types of chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, and love in this cup.
That made it the best cocoa Crowley had ever had.
