oh~ Can you do something with Kindaichi getting a birthday present from his crush (Iwaizumi) and he's so flustered that his brain is trying to say "I love it" and "thank you" so he just blurts out "I LOVE YOU" and embarrassment follows?
Send me Kindaichi prompts for the shallot’s birthday!
Iwaizumi’shands shook when he handed it over. It was such a little thing, butYuutarou noticed. He noticed everything about Iwaizumi. Yuutaroufiled away that little tidbit for later analysis and pulled the paperoff the gift.
Itwas a book. Large and square and thin. Yuutarou opened it up to finda picture of the team pasted on the first page.
Therewere more pictures pasted on the other pages, and clippings fromarticles and stills from tv interviews. The entire year, Yuutarou’sentire captaincy, carefully glued to the pages. Yuutarou felt tearswell up in his eyes.
Hehad to say something. Thankyou, I love it, it’sthe best gift anyone’s ever given me. Heopened his mouth and took a shaky breath.
“ILOVE YOU!” he yelled, then stared at Iwaizumi in horror. Iwaizumistared back, his eyes wide and a blush starting to cover his cheeks.Yuutarou did the only thing he could think of. He ran.
Heshould have known it wouldn’twork. He may have had the longer legs, but Iwaizumi had never lostwhen it came to physical activity. He caught up with Yuutarou justaround the corner from the gym and launched into a flying tackle. They went down in a heap, Yuutarou’s arms stretched out in front ofhim with the scrapbook held safely out of the dirt.
“Ithink you broke something,” he wheezed.
“Sorry.”Iwaizumi didn’t even sound winded. “I needed to make sure youweren’t going to run anymore. You’re faster than you realize.”
“Irealize plenty,” Yuutarou grumbled. Iwaizumi crawled off of him andhe sat up, half facing away from Iwaizumi. “So.”
“So,”Iwaizumi agreed. “That was sudden.”
“Sorry,”Yuutarou said. “I shouldn’t have said that in front of all thosepeople, especially not that loud. I didn’t even mean to say that, Imeant to say ‘I love it’ or ‘thank you’ or something, and itjust slipped out wrong. It’s funny, really, and I think somedaywe’re gonna look back at this and laugh and-”
“Kindaichi.”Iwaizumi was laughing, one hand on Yuutarou’s arm. He got to hisknees and shuffled forward until he could drop into Yuutarou’s lap.“It’s okay. I love you too.”
“I-you- but-” Yuutarou stammered, staring at Iwaizumi, who chuckledsoftly.
“Ilove you,” he murmured. “And I’m pretty sure you really loveme. So. Can I kiss you?”
“P-please!,”Yuutarou shouted. Iwaizumi laughed again, then pressed his laughingmouth against Yuutarou’s. It was the worst and best first kissanyone could ever have asked for, and when Iwaizumi pulled awayYuutarou made sure the second kiss was just as good.

“We’ve entered the final set of the 2014 Spring Finals. Aoba Johsai and Karasuno High are two and two going into this set.”
It was Kindaichi Yuutaro’s final year in high school. After moving up to be captain, he had felt a lot of pressure to take his team to nationals, achieve the dreams of those before him. This was his last chance. One last chance to prove himself. He looked over to Kunimi, his best friend through his volleyball journey. They nodded at each other, one last ditch effort to get themselves to nationals. Karasuno was up to serve first.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The score ended 21-19. Karasuno was headed to nationals for the 3rd year in a row. Aoba Johsai made it further than they had before but it still wasn’t enough. Kindaichi tried his best to keep a straight face, stay calm in front of his juniors but that all shattered when they were on their way back to the bus.
“Hey Kindaichi!” He turned around to see a face he hadn’t thought he’d see again, let alone this soon. He was face to face with the man he idolized since middle school. “That was good work out there.”
Hajime Iwaizumi placed his hand on Kindaichi’s shoulder, face smiling more than the younger had seen before. His eyes were filled with warmth. On any other day Kindaichi would have been trying to play off his nerves, faking confidence to try and hide his obvious crush. But, that didn’t happen today. Instead, that wall that held up his emotions began to crumble. He didn’t realize just how much a little bit of praise would shatter the facade he was trying to keep up. It wasn’t until he felt the hand on his shoulder begin to squeeze it that he realized tears were streaming down his face. Those tears turned into sobs as he finally forced himself to speak.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t do it!” The tall high school stepped back and bowed down. His sobs were even more visible, his shoulders heaving as he breathed. He didn’t move until he felt a hand on his back, rubbing it slowly.
“Why are you apologizing to me? What, did you blame me for our loss when I was a third year?” Kindaichi couldn’t recognize the jest in Iwaizumi’s voice, moving to panic instead. He almost forgot about the disappointment in himself as he stood up straight as a board waving his hands, about to interject. Iwaizumi was quick to silence these worries. “Hey! It isn’t that serious, just take a breath, okay? Anyways, it’s really good to see you again.”
Iwaizumi grabbed Kindaichi’s hand and pulled him into a bro hug. This both relaxed and made Kindaichi cry even more. His arms fully wrapped around the shorter man, slowly relaxing into his hold. “Really, you did a great job today.” This time Kindaichi didn’t cry more, he slowed his breathing and smiled, though Iwaizumi wouldn’t know. They were both relaxed, neither thinking of the more obvious questions about how the other was doing or why Iwaizumi was back in Japan. They were able to just breathe.
They stayed this way for a while, blissfully unaware of the fact the rest of the Aoba Johsai volleyball team was waiting in the bus, Kunimi trying to keep to peace as his younger teammates gawked out the windows at the pair. They only pulled away from each other after hearing the blaring bus horn. They promptly stepped back, letting out a small laugh to each other.
“I guess I’d better go.” Kindaichi said, gesturing to the bus by tilting his head. He didn’t want to go. He’d much rather catch up with his former ace. But, he was aware he had an hour bus ride back to his school. Sighing, he bowed once again to Iwaizumi, this time notably more calm.
“I’m back in Miyagi for a couple weeks. We should catch up, yeah? Here,” The older man took out his phone and handed it to Kindaichi.
“Really?” Kindaichi said as he put his info into the phone, struggling a little with the cracked screen.
“Yeah, let’s grab dinner sometime. I’ll text you.” With that, they went their separate ways, giving each other a quick wave. When Kindaichi made it back to the bus he chose to ignore Kunimi’s grin, opting to just take his seat and pull out his phone. He couldn't hold back his smile as he saw he already had a text from Iwaizumi.
‘It was really great being able to see you again. I meant what I said; that was good work today’
