poor yuutarou, his heart is about to explode

just some IwaKin I wrote for @notsuchasecret love you boo! 850ish words, rated... T?  for a couple swears? fluffy fluff

“You have to help me,” Yuutarou hisses as he slides into the seat next to Hajime.

“And why would that be?”  Hajime barely even glances up from his laptop screen.

“Because I am currently on the run from your best friend?  Because you signed a little piece of paper stating we’re together until death?  Because you love me?”  Yutuarou slinks down in his seat and nudges Hajime’s ankle with his foot.  “Take your pick.”

Hajime hums.  “Well.  You’re not wrong.  But you’re the one who did something ridiculous enough to get on Oikawa’s radar.  Regardless of how much I love you that sounds a lot like a you problem.”

Yuutarou groans.  “I thought this was a partnership.  My problems are your problems and all that.”

“Yeah.  And Oikawa has been my problem since I was born.  Now he’s your problem.  See?  We’re sharing.”

“That really doesn’t seem fair to me.  You’ve had years to deal with him.  Now you’re dumping this shit on me?”

“I thought this was a partnership,” Hajime teases.  “My shit is your shit now.”

“I think your shit needs to be flushed so we can scrub the toilet.”

Hajime snorts and reaches across the table.  Yuutarou grabs his hand and tangles their fingers together with a smile.

It doesn’t help, not with the real issue of Oikawa being Oikawa all over Yuutarou’s business.  But it does make him feel better.

“I’m telling you,” Hajime says as he takes Yuutarou’s hand and drags him towards the elevators.  “My sanity depends on you.”

“Great.  So.  No pressure, then.”  The elevator doors open and a bunch of giggling teens step out.  “No pressure at all.”

This isn’t his first time at one of these events.  This isn’t even his first time this year at one of these events.  Hajime being who he is and having the friends he has means these sorts of events are actually fairly common.  Them being common doesn’t mean he likes going to them.

He’s not sure if it’s better or worse that Hajime doesn’t like it either.

On one hand Hajime not liking it means that Yuutarou doesn’t feel guilty about complaining so much about it all.

On the other hand Hajime not liking it means that the person he’s here with is just as grumbly about it all as he is.

The only plus side to the whole night, in his opinion anyway, is that he gets to see Hajime all dressed up.  Also the fact that he knows no matter who flirts with Hajime, he’s the one who Hajime is going home with at the end of the night.  That’s a plus too now that he thinks about it.

He watches yet another barely twenty-something try to flirt their way into Hajime’s good graces.  Once he’s freed himself Hajime stalks over to Yuutarou and glares at him.

“My sanity, Yuutarou.”

“I love you but you lost that a long time ago,” Yuutarou replies.

“He’s not wrong,” Oikawa says as he drapes his arms over Hajime’s shoulders.  “You have always been a little off center as long as I’ve known you.”

“Same,” Kunimi says, plopping into the chair next to Yuutarou with a relieved sigh.

“You’re all so rude,” Hajime grumbles.  

Yuutarou reaches out with a smile and drags Hajime into the chair on his other side.  Hajime collapses into it with a groan.

“And yet,” Oikawa says.  “Here you are.  With us.”  

Oikawa preens when Hajime flashes him a rude gesture.

“I’m dying.”

“You’ve got the flu.”

“That’s what I said.”  Hajime coughs.  “I’m dying.”

“You’re not dying,” Yuutarou sighs.  “Not unless I smother you with your own pillow.”

“Rude.”

Yuutarou rolls his eyes but he brings Hajime the juice and crackers he’s been whining about since before Yuutarou even got home from work.  Because he’s a giant sap and stopped at the store on his way home and got them for Hajime.  Along with cold meds he knows he’ll have to practically force feed to Hajime and a couple cans of soup for himself because he already knows he’s catching whatever the hell Hajime has and Hajime is a horrible patient and, unfortunately, not that great of a nurse.

Oh, he tries.  But… Honestly the last time he was sick Yuutarou considered calling Oikawa over to come help him.  More to keep Hajime distracted than anything else.

A week later Yuutarou is the one curled in bed feeling like he’s dying and Hajime hovers in the doorway to their bedroom making sad faces at him until Yuutarou holds out his hand and Hajime scrambles into bed with him.

He might not be a great nurse but he’s a great snuggler.

“Holy shit!”  

Hajime sits up with a gasp at Yuutarou’s voice, attention snapping from the tv to Yutuarou’s face.

“What?  What?  What’s happening?”

Yuutarou turns to Hajime and grabs his hand.

“I love you.”  Yuutarou grins.

Hajime scowls at him even as he lets Yuutarou pull him in for a kiss.  “I love you too, you menace,” Hajime whispers against his lips.

Iwaizumi’shands shook when he handed it over. It was such a little thing, butYuutarou noticed. He noticed everything about Iwaizumi. Yuutaroufiled away that little tidbit for later analysis and pulled the paperoff the gift.

Itwas a book. Large and square and thin. Yuutarou opened it up to finda picture of the team pasted on the first page.

Therewere more pictures pasted on the other pages, and clippings fromarticles and stills from tv interviews. The entire year, Yuutarou’sentire captaincy, carefully glued to the pages. Yuutarou felt tearswell up in his eyes.

Hehad to say something. Thankyou, I love it, it’sthe best gift anyone’s ever given me. Heopened his mouth and took a shaky breath.

“ILOVE YOU!” he yelled, then stared at Iwaizumi in horror. Iwaizumistared back, his eyes wide and a blush starting to cover his cheeks.Yuutarou did the only thing he could think of. He ran.

Heshould have known it wouldn’twork. He may have had the longer legs, but Iwaizumi had never lostwhen it came to physical activity. He caught up with Yuutarou justaround the corner from the gym and launched into a flying tackle.They went down in a heap, Yuutarou’s arms stretched out in front ofhim with the scrapbook held safely out of the dirt.

“Ithink you broke something,” he wheezed.

“Sorry.”Iwaizumi didn’t even sound winded. “I needed to make sure youweren’t going to run anymore. You’re faster than you realize.”

“Irealize plenty,” Yuutarou grumbled. Iwaizumi crawled off of him andhe sat up, half facing away from Iwaizumi. “So.”

“So,”Iwaizumi agreed. “That was sudden.”

“Sorry,”Yuutarou said. “I shouldn’t have said that in front of all thosepeople, especially not that loud. I didn’t even mean to say that, Imeant to say ‘I love it’ or ‘thank you’ or something, and itjust slipped out wrong. It’s funny, really, and I think somedaywe’re gonna look back at this and laugh and-”

“Kindaichi.”Iwaizumi was laughing, one hand on Yuutarou’s arm. He got to hisknees and shuffled forward until he could drop into Yuutarou’s lap.“It’s okay. I love you too.”

“I-you- but-” Yuutarou stammered, staring at Iwaizumi, who chuckledsoftly.

“Ilove you,” he murmured. “And I’m pretty sure you really loveme. So. Can I kiss you?”

“P-please!,”Yuutarou shouted. Iwaizumi laughed again, then pressed his laughingmouth against Yuutarou’s. It was the worst and best first kissanyone could ever have asked for, and when Iwaizumi pulled awayYuutarou made sure the second kiss was just as good.

- Kindaichi sitting down and hugging Iwa when he's feeling down and Iwa just lets him and doesn't care he's in the club room with everyone else just sighing like "Okay we're used to this"

- Kindaichi saying to Iwa that he wants to become like him when he's a third year and Iwa loses his shit
