Marking - A Thief drabble
He visits you at night. Not every night - far from it – but you have learned that even if weeks and sometimes even months can pass in between his visits, he always comes back, slipping in like a shadow through the window you always leave open for him. Just in case.
It's only sometimes that you hear him enter, but even when you do, you still pretend to be asleep when he sits down on the edge of your bed, allowing himself a few moments to just watch you before he wakes you up.
”Tesoro,” he whispers and you turn and welcome him into your arms like he's more than a thief in the night, there to steal kisses and caresses.
Each night he visits, he wears a new elaborate and expensive-looking outfit. And you thoroughly enjoy stripping each expensive garment from his body to press kisses to the smooth skin uncovered, feeling how he shivers beneath your touch.
His clothes are in stark contrast to your own cheap cotton pajamas, but the Thief never looks at you like your any less than spectacular in his eyes. And when you're held tightly in his arms, you can almost believe him.
He fucks you with a sort of forceful reverence. Lets his mouth travel across your body to suck purple marks into the skin of all his favorite spots in a way that leaves you breathless and gasping for more. And he always complies.
On the mornings after his visits, you stand, looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing the evidence of him peppered all over your body - like red and purple flower petals - usually along with some piece of expensive jewelry that you hadn't noticed him slipping on the night before.
You asked him once – after he'd made a trail of them up the inside of your thigh -why he seemed so fond of marking you.
He never gave you an answer. But the next time he came to visit, each mark left on your body was followed by the most tender of kisses to the same spot.
And you didn't ask him again.
Because as time passes and you learn more about the Thief, you eventually figure it out.
The marks he leaves are a temporary claim to something he believes he can never fully steal.
Someday you'll tell him that he's wrong.
That he stole your heart a long long time ago.
