Kunimi/Kuroo + first time meeting? -rare pair hell anon
They’d never played them before.
It was a practice match. Oikawa had seen their bus leaving Karasuno and, afraid that the exposure to this particular team might give their enemy a leg-up in the tournament, had immediately planned to organize a match between Aoba Johsai and the Tokyo team.
It was interesting, to say the least.
The captain, Kunimi quickly learned, was wicked. Smug, critical, and maybe a little full of himself, he was terrifying on the court. Aggressive with his blocks, even more so with his spikes. Encouraging to his team and menacing to his opponents.
A practice match meant more time on the court for Kunimi. He was called into the rotation halfway into the first set, and he quickly set his face into a firm, unreadable line.
The positions put him right across from the Nekoma captain.
At his approach, the cheshire grin widened. “A new challenger approaches,” he sung lowly. “Pulling a newbie from the bench?”
Kunimi hummed in acknowledgement. “I might be a newbie,” he admitted, bending his knees as he heard Oikawa prepare the serve behind him, “but it just makes it more satisfying when I kick your ass.”
For just a few moments, the captain looked thrown off. It wasn’t long before the smirk returned however. “Kuroo Tetsurou,” he introduced. A whistle blew, and the ball is sent flying over the net. “Pleasure to meet you.”
The Nekoma setter tossed the ball high, and suddenly Kuroo is no longer in front of Kunimi, but above him, slamming the ball down and into the court beside him.
Kuroo tsked under his breath at Kunimi’s shocked expression. “Make good on your promise, newbie. And you might get a nice dinner out of it.”
The Nekoma rotation started to change, and Kuroo sauntered away from Kunimi to his new position. He threw a fast wink over his shoulder. “It’ll be my treat.”
