D&D Amino Inktober Prompt! Day 1: Found Family. (Might post in bulk on certain days, college be like that.) A moon elf named Alfaequil, whom I play, spotted a goblin trying to steal from a merchant. The thief was caught, and currently being held and yelled at by the man, who had apparently been robbed like this before and demanded his losses compensated. Alfaequil hadn't met any goblins prior, and felt it was wrong for someone so massive to punish a poor little thing like that, regardless of race. So he stepped in, gave the money owed, and took the goblin with him. The burglar's name was Kipin, as he learned, and he was 8 years old. Now, a goblin is biologically an adult at that age, but being as clueless as he was about the race, and coupled with the fact that he was an elf; Alfaequil reasoned that Kipin was just a small child. Now determined to make a better future for this rogue in the making, he spent much time on his travels teaching Kipin all about magic. He figured it was better than him running around with a knife, after several instances of the "Let me see what you have" vine. Kipin went on to become an arcane trickster, and even though he didn't let go of his cold weapons, Alfaequil was still really proud of his adopted baby goblin. Whether he didn't notice the petty crimes Kipin sometimes committed, or he purposefully turned a blind eye - that much was never certain. Now the hard part would consist of explaining to his noble parents how their son came home with a goblin calling him father!

Rep N Red is a multimedia webcomic about vigilante social workers in post WWIII San Francisco, and as of tonight, it is finally live!!
Our goal with Rep N Red is to tell the kind of story we would rec - a story that features a diverse cast and centers on something beyond the tragic struggles that come with being marginalized. Too often when we see media starring folks like us, the plot tends to revolve around the struggles of our existence. And honestly - we all just wanna be Han Solo sometimes.
With Rep N Red, we hope that everyone gets to see themselves as Han Solo now and then. In a natural, organic setting, we hope to include both gay people and robots, hijabis and futurism, neurodivergents and phasers. We hope to tell the kind of SciFi adventure epic we've always loved but never seen ourselves in.
Rep N Red! Updates Monday nights.
Marge - SFB-1 Spymaster in Rep N Red
To the general public, Marge is the master of the Pleasurehouse, the fake "illegal activity" going on at SFB-1 so cops have a simple and not-all-that illegal explanation for the radio shields and suspicious characters coming in and out. Within the house, Marge is still the master of the Pleasurehouse, but the Pleasurehouse itself is really much more. As is she.
Her people smile and flirt when hired, and then they take everything they learn back to her. She's the one who decides which weapons to save and which to sharpen. And when the time comes, she's the one that shows up at Mr. Rich-and-political's door with a bottle of wine and a charming smile, ready to sit down and delicately explain the terms of their extortion. Beyond the house's private information source, she's also connected with maids, personal nurses, and handy-workers. Anyone that will show up at a rich businessman's house to serve, anyone that will giggle dumbly or bow their heads and have the people with power believe that they're too stupid to be truly listening. The underestimated are the people Marge employs to help provide that extra income and security to SFB-1 and the Marina Shanty in general.
Ichiro Yamada - NJSDF Accountant in Rep N Red
Ichiro is the child of a brilliant mathematician and a city politician. Both are liberal and logical, so when he came to them at age ten with a request to start using male pronouns, they responded logically and calmly and helped him begin his transition. Really, everything they did was logical and calm. Calmly logical. When he tearfully requested at age 13 to not have to interact with other children anymore (he had a bully) they logically-calmly were like 'ok' and they hired him some tutors and bought him a nice computer to learn on. He never used it to initiate contact with anyone. It was all just research stuff. So his grades rocked, but by the time he was grown, Ichiro really had no idea how to interact with most people.
He now works as Nezumi Yasuhiro's personal accountant, organizing the funds (allowance, really) afforded to their team each month by the Sr. Yasuhiro. He's also the only other member of the team who dresses like a professional and sort of almost talks like one, so he also handles a lot of Nezumi's social responsibilities. Definitely the worst idea ever, in his opinion, but he has some trouble really insistently vocalizing that when Nezumi yet again turns to him with another assignment.
Sark - SFB-1 Head of Security in Rep N Red
The name's 'Sark.' Just Sark. Not at all like Cher. He keeps their cover secure, and he also attempts to keep the cover for their cover secure. If Sark is in charge, you can be sure that all the halls have security cameras and all the rooms are bugged. And not just like, woo, camera in the corner. If there's a camera in the corner, it's probably a decoy. Sark is much more creative with his defense.
While he's a veteran of the same war Nasirah and Jay survived, in his own opinion, he didn't quite survive it as much as they did. Neither of them knew pre-war Sark. While Nas has heard the details, no one quite gets how much the two sides of this five-year event differ. He always had generalized anxiety, but the situation the US government forced him into twisted that into something he doubts he'll ever come back from.
Which is fine, as he can do lots of things to contribute to the group anyway, according to everyone. He's an intuitive problem solver, he's sort of good at art, he can lift the weight of his largest dog like fifty times, and he can keep everyone safe (he will keep everyone safe). He can also make Nas happy, and this is really important to him.
