Leaving the burrow early? Rambles and canon divergence au ideas

it would have been wiser to leave while Song was pregnant - I mean, navigating the surface with a baby who's liable to cry at any time and not stop on command, versus a pregnant lady?

I think Lio and Song wanted to wait until Kipo was born because they wanted to check if she really was the "solution" - they wanted to be sure that the experiment was a success before leaving... or because they couldn't run fast because Song was pregnant? but how fast can you run when you're tired and have to carry a baby as well?

but they could've left when Song started to show mega signs... :( things would probably have gone better... or what if Emilia didn't come knocking that day and they escaped?

maybe Emilia would have sent people to search for them, maybe things would have gone equally bad but in a different way

oh but it's a science burrow, not a fighter burrow, they probably would've gotten a better end than in canon - two megas (even if one is tired and one is a baby), Scarlemagne's pheromones, vs some of their ex-coworkers and a bloodthirsty, bigoted ex-boss? let them take their chances and see how it goes. you can spin a fix-it or a whump, it's ambiguous like that!

or someone (preferably Lio, because Kipo and Hugo are babies and Song was a mega most of the time in the future) gains future memories while still in the burrow

they have to try and do better, but that's hard! so if you want Lio redemption arc, maybe you'll like this! there are gonna be many hard choices - to follow the plan last time? how much should be changed? when to leave the burrow? use pheromones? be overprotective of Hugo so he won't "go bad", and risk stifling him, or give him space and risk him learning the wrong things? how to find Song's anchor? kill Emilia? recruit the rest of the burrow? and if it comes down to it, who to sacrifice?

the advantage is that they know how to deal with the surface! they know how to get allies, what to avoid, etc, whereas last time they were going in (sort of) blind. they have the upper hand over the sheltered (haha) burrow people, and can definitely set effective traps and make alliances quickly (imagine baby Kipo with the Timbercats 🥺🥺🥺)

if anyone does create something based on this, please tell me! I'd like to see how it goes haha 💯
