Within a few moments, small footfalls could be heard from the other side of the door. It was promptly thrown open by a small boy with wild dark eyes and brown curls that framed the panicked expression on his face. “Quick! Come in, come in!” He hurried the girl in and shut the door behind her, latching it quickly and then slumping to the floor against it with a relieved sigh. Her host looked to be somewhere between six and eight years old, rather gangly but still baby faced. Small scuffs and scratches seemed to cover every bit of skin that was visible. He had on what would be easily recognizable as renaissance or medieval era clothes to anyone familiar with that era; a blouse with the top half untied, and some pants that had been gathered just below the knee to keep them out of the way.
“It’s too dangerous around here to be out there by yourself. Where’re your parents?” This stranger sure was dressed funny- he’d never seen anyone wear quite that much green. Maybe she was a Kodama- like in the stories his mother had once told him. Quickly, he began to rethink what he’d said and scurried up from the floor. “Ah..” he started, but then moved to throw a chunk of firewood on a small fire in the corner. Without the flame, the room they were in would probably be quite cold. ”Please, sit.” Where they stood just inside the front door was the main room of a small abode. A fireplace was in the corner, a small fire crackling within. A short table with cushions nearby and an old gas stove. A couple earthenware pots of sat nearby with a set of cups and some other miscellaneous objects. There were two doors that lead off of this room. The first door was open and, faintly in the dark of the other room, a bedroll was visible. The other room was closed. “Can I get you… water? Food?” He looked his visitor over, trying to discern if she’d been done any injury.
Please... Someone help me...
Tears began to form after a few seconds of waiting. There had to be someone. Feeling all hope was lost until hearing a soft pitter patter with feet and a door opening like it was on fire- “I ne-” He had hurried her in which she did not mind at all and took a full look at the boy who had brought her in. “T... Thank you.” Wiping away her teary eyes hoping the boy had not seen the girl about to cry at any second.
He was quite young in Kaphona’s eyes. Such face, hair... But the markings on his body seemed to worry her the most. Afraid to ask him what had happened to him or even his name at all. “I don’t have parents. I didn’t know where I am to be honest... I was at my home one second and then I’m here and I have no idea how or why... Why is it dangerous?” If a boy said it was dangerous around in this area then who knows what would have happened.
“W... Water please.” The home, Kaphona assumed it was his home, was quite cute since it didn’t have very much to be a clutter. Two rooms perhaps he had a sibling or a parent. “Oh, uh, I’m not injured at all, just a few bruises that is all. I’m really thankful that you had let me in.” Giving him a smile and bowed slightly.
