I imagine spices were an extremely rare commodity in No Place, so Sails is used to super bland food. Unlike the usual trope of this sort of character losing their shit when finally exposed to super flavorful things, Sails generally* prefers what he's used to. And probably cooks that way as well. Kit isn't a picky eater, but… Man. At least put SALT in it, for Gaia's sake!

* - he does get excited over some things, though. He especially loves fruit and milk/cream-based things.
