oh geez this is going to be a bit of a rant hsdbfhdjsbg
so im writing outlining this story and the basic plot is that it's set in 1990s (or somewhere around that time) in mumbai, india. and it's about two guys and their gay romance??? (their names are Abhi and Zawri)
but it's a bit different from the usual
because a few weeks ago i was talking to my mom who was a teen during the 90s in mumbai and she told me how there was this street vendor guy who would help kids exchange love letters for money, so like a guy could pay the vendor a certain amount of money and get his love letter to the girl he likes. and i thought that concept was super neat so that's how the basis of the story came to be.
i also just really wanted to write a queer indian story set in india itself.
so the story is going to be narrated using the love letters between the two protags, but that was the initial idea, eventually i decided to do a past/present thing. where Zawri is packing up his stuff because his sister and he are moving out together from their parent's house and his sister finds a box of sorts behind the wardrobe, so she brings it over and they look inside to find the love letters from years ago (cheesy i know)
and so the sister's like, tell me dude im curious about your gay awakening and zawri is like jeez okay, so he started telling her the story by the help of the letters, and the story spans over a few days as the two siblings go through their moving process
also i know how im going to end it 👀 👀 👀 but no more spoilers the ending is something no one will know about until i finish this novel hdjsbghjbsjg
and that's it! thank you for holding this event and letting me rant about my writing sending loads of love your way <333
This is GREAT!!!! I'm such a sucker for 90's romances! I've never read one set in India and I would snatch that off a bookshelf in a heartbeat! Keep up the fantastic work!!! :D
