what trope would u love to see with clive and joshua

HMMMMMM not a trope per se??? But Im always lamenting to myself (cause I can do it! Like if I got time to be all “I wanna see X” I can damn well make it LOL) but primal play with them!

I have no preference for who’s predator or prey cause either is fun!! Their eikons are both predators in their design and just What They Are. But like Phoenix is a Raptor and Ifrit is a bipedal lizard dog so like— AND obviously Ifrit is the Devourer of Eikons a predator to the core of it and its reason for existence.

Cause like!! I have a whole silly like— “plot” for it- perhaps a Phoenix Gate Didn’t Happen or even after the fall of Origin and everyone lives no one dies LOL—

But like I prolly doesn’t work 100% with the biome of Rosaria since it’s a mash of marshland and hills but yanno how some forests need fire to thrive? Some ecosystems need fire to function SO the idea was these two weirdo goofballs who wanna go for a romp use the season of burning to bound about in search of the other/run from the other- and they can semi prime or prime wholly and not cause undue harm the environment (well eikons would def just.. uh leave rifts and ditches everywhere- have ya seen the impact site of Phoenix and ifrit LOL BIG HOLE into the depths of the Apodytery. But POINT being they can lil weirdos and hunt each other for their enrichment AND help their ecosystems thrive! LOL

Also can just say fuck it and they go ham for funsies but where’s the fun in that LOL

I just love the idea of their eikons effecting them in ways that require a release or a need to enact certain things- they are beasts in human skin they deserve to have fun in big ways 🤭

I’m also a big supporter of cannibalism play and them eating each other under the guise of bone deep adoration love and a Need To Be One and how else can you achieve that if not by consuming!! 🤭 but also though the game only did it like ONCE the ability to regenerate through aether is tooootally at play here. In regards to body blood etc they can eat or ‘eat’ to their hearts content without true threat of death. And their eikons settle once more in their chests and they feel fulfilled.

I have a drabble started for this idea of them in the afterglow and Clive has his hands arounds Joshua’s waist/at his stomach- picturing little 10 year old Joshua who’s ribs he could splinter under his hands with ease- shame races through him but his hands still flex and flex into his brothers skin. Pressing his nose into the skin their as saliva pools in his mouth that the fantasy of biting and biting into him and the rush of blood- Joshua matching his freak, catching on to his brothers shift shivers at the fantasy himself and asks “Brother. Do you hunger?” And Clive shudders-

almost kisses vs forehead touches who's winning the heartache award?

Im going to be a stinky lil man and make this about roscest (which i assume you may have made this in reference to the recent art if not my b LOL) But omg- okay. so that would be situational i think.... like almost kisses that never meet... cause ~no they can't~ or something is holding them back from breaching that particular mountain. or the tension of it adding to the high- the intimacy of sharing one breath. If the meeting of their mouths would feel as erotic or satisfying. Or in the case of (and this i could tooootes use for my PCau... tho ive made to where these goobers are SO down to smooch even if the moment they return to their rooms it's Guilt Time, USA and they fuck up all their progress for the 3rd time but they can't help how they're drawn to the other. their very bones wanting to mesh and fuse ANYWAY--) amount to kiss but pulling away at the last second with averted gazes and murmured 'sorry's. one leaving under the guise of 'i... i have something that calls my attention' or maybe trying again... trying to get up the courage to change their relationship in a way they cannot return from. The core of their devotion will never falter but with this particular meeting it could be their greatest achievement or something that makes their parting hurt all the more.... huuu.... Forehead touches.... they do this in their reunion... (tho their models don't physically touch it's a forehead touch in my heart...) Something almost akin to their almost kiss-- the sharing of their breath, the soft quickening of their breath at the elation of them meeting again after 18 years and 5 years within that being one of 'am i mad? was Joshua really there.' the weight and weightlessness of the Phoenix Plume at his breast since that day at Drake's Head- the day of Cid's death and the brief reunion of the brother's even if Clive only saw his silhouette for a brief moment... The touch being the culmination of all those years of waiting of hoping of not even knowing Joshua yet live... taking place in the ruins of the great city in the Crystalline Dominion- Twin Side as it falls and the thread of Bahamut has been quieted. The relief of being able to hold the literal light of your life in your hands once more. You reason to continuing to take a new step each and every day cause it's what you were Born To Do. Joshua assuming the role of Shield from the shadows to protect Clive upon knowing he lived and the Blessing still burned within. Clive his revenge that kept him upright for 13 years to understanding finally that He was his brother's /Killer/ and hid from the truth to deciding so long as he still breathes he must move forward. He cannot fall- finding Joshua yet lives even in a brief glimpse and trusting in him even with 13 into 18 years apart that He Must Have Reason To Stay Away to finally holding his brother in his arms and soothing his sobs of 'Im sorry. im sorry...' His reason once more returning to him since he didn't dare hope that he would see this day but they're both alive... that's all that matters.... There's heartache in the canon of the event and my own takes but also a deep relief in holding the other once again. Apart for long than they're known each other but even then they reunite as if no time has passed. Both hurt in so many ways but the relief that lies within... auuugh they're so good........ i don't think i can choose...

favorite thing about clive? just one

This is an evil ask…. How could you… that’s my wife!!!!

But honestly the thing that comes to mind is his love. Like for one of the eeearly interviews with koji and yoship Ben says that if he could use one word to describe Clive- it would be Love. (And I cried about it LOL)

But literally- I think Clive’s expression of love is one of my fav things about him. It’s on his sleeve and on his face and in those /he loves/.

How his love for his little brother is endless. He will do everything he can to care for him, to protect him and be there in any way he can. Him failing in his duty as shield and brother *tears him apart* he lives 13 years in a numb haze of revenge. He doesn’t care what happens to him after he finds Joshua’s murderer. Finding out HE?? Was his murderer? He wants only for death. Begs Cid to kill him and we can only imagine how distressed and anger he was when Tarja ordered him stripped and shackled cause he was a Threat To Himself.

His love for Jill- as a boy his attempts at closing the gap but shying away from it- trying to put on a brave face cause I can only imagine how many nights she’s cried to the brothers about missing home and feeling so lost in this foreign land. His respect and pride in her as a person (when he knows she’s alive after Barnabas subdued her) and there are aspects that the writers just DIDNT lean into with them in my opinion. They had the makings for actually being the het of all time tbh but the writers just.. do not know how to write women LOL so I fill in the gaps myself and there is a genuine love there (my personal but is they are platonic soulmates while Joshua is The Soulmate (twin flames, soul meld etc etc cmawn)

In his willingness to let Cid in. He’s a bite risk hound beaten down over a decade when first found but CID’s boisterous and up front attitude helps him quickly see that this man means him no harm and has his heart in the right place. He wants to do good and Cid is his window into that after he decides that so long as he still breathes he will do good and do something with himself. And their ease with banter and such is lovely to see after we see all that Clive deals with. And his heartbreak with Cid in his arms once again not strong enough to protect someone he loves.

Clive loves in a way that shatters him I think. It’s both a lovely and beautiful thing but he loves so whole heartedly that when he fails or isn’t strong enough he stumbles and finds it hard to get back up I think. Obviously uses his drive and means of what he wants to do to get back up but it Hurts. And by taking on the mantle of Cid he’s tasked and given that drive to carry on. He must. It’s his duty. He is someone driven by the need to help others. To Be that pillar for so many.

So when Joshua clocks him in the damn mouth for taking the essences of Shiva he’s rightfully upset cause - what?? Is he next?? Are you going to ask for the Phoenix? To stand alone and face this all on your own? Fuck you!— to which after getting an earful Clive says in that sad dog way of his “I thought it was the right thing to do” (possibly in a way of protecting Jill since we can only assume she worries that shiva won’t heed her call or that the curse has climbed too far for her we don’t know) and Joshua deflates cause he know for all his anger Clive is genuinely just trying to protect and do what he feels is right.

If Clive, Mythos and vessel to a god doesn’t stand against Ultima who will? Who even has the strength to do so? He was ‘gifted’ this ability that makes him essentially immune to the curse and able to fling magic and deal with aether floods without issue. If he doesn’t stand up to Ultima who can? It would be selfish to stand aside and not take action. Humanity is at the mercy of his ‘God’ if he chooses to not do anything or to give up his will and cast Raise as is his ‘destiny.’

And he loves far too much to stand still. And he needs sometimes reminded that he never stands alone.

But man… I think on a mirror but for this Joshua stands toe to toe with Clive on the aspect of Love though I feel Joshua’s is more… focused and as a result is able to save Clive time and time again. Through their bond through his care and through the blessing and plume.

These two love in a way that is consuming and so giving.

And I could go on about his love for Joshua but flaps hands

And man the way we see his expression love and care through the time shift (time skip etc) for the hideaway. You start with just monikers and descriptions of people you meet to the time skip of every one is named. He helps anyone no matter that task (ignoring the player aspect here) and even sometimes is annoyed but will follow through cause it lightens the load of another.

And the aspect of ‘people lean or rely too much on him’ can be played with def! And I hope there is time when he isn’t running across the twins every moment but he finds satisfaction in it. I think.
