Crumble Crumble Cookie-Man
A bed of peppers for your unrest,
Your sugared soul shall not be blessed.
Behind your wide eyes of glaze,
Feel fear beneath our hungry craze.
As I chew, your will undone,
Baked and bound my spell is spun.
Crumble, crumble, cookie-man,
Run away as fast you can!
Now your people turn their heads,
Out to paint the throne in red!
May they sick of all your blunder
Seek you out, tear you asunder
May they start down from your toes
To end the hurt and curb all woes
Crispy knees, they snap in two,
Your bribed crowd won’t stand for you.
Our nation’s help you cast away,
For that we’ll eat your legs today.
Belly round while kids don’t eat
They’ll chew you up, revenge so sweet.
Arms of icing, snap, and crack
They all clap you’re in the sack!
Chest now gone, they cheer and sing,
“Eat him up! No more kings!”
Last the head, your frosted crown,
Chewed to crumbs, you tumble down.
Crumble, crumble, cookie-man,
Bit by bit, because we can.
In my tummy may you churn.
Then down and out as you’ve earned.
Your frosted crown is lost to me,
Your candied soul no more shall be.
By oven, spice, and witch’s glee,
The spell is cast—so mote it be!

An Edible Poppet Curse? Yes! You can use any shortbread recipe, but I will provide the one I use below specifically because it makes the body of the cookies “orange” for the orange one currently tearing the world apart. Typically a curse would be destroyed or suspended in a type of acidic solution, we will be doing the same, only it’s your stomach acid. Your innards are the most inhospitable thing imaginable, it’s as good as any curse jar.
In the beginning I say “A bed of peppers for your unrest” on the plate I place a satchel of peppers. I then place the cookie poppet on top of it. This is so the peppers do not transfer to the poppet before we eat it, you can also use the satchel contents in cooking later. What peppers? Any you like. Black peppercorn, chili peppers, maybe even some mustard seed. It’s up to you. The shortbread recipe I used for the “orange one”: https://wmpesblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/pumpkin-shortbread-cookies.html And the cookie cutter can be any whole skeleton, I just had a cheap one from temu. (or gingerbread man! if no skeletons)
