On Emma Approved: personally, I enjoy it. It's very different from LBD, which is why I think some people are having trouble with it--Emma's also a more polarizing character than Lizzie. I think the acting is more consistently good in EA, but the plot does move slower, and there are some things added in that weren't explicitly in the original text. I don't think it's detrimental, but...I would recommend it if you like modern adaptations of Emma.
That sounds quite positive. I mean, Emma’s always a controversial character. I personally love book!Emma but I would expect, if they do it right, to find EA!Emma a bit jarring at first because I think we should find her that way, just as Regency readers should find her unexpected or unappealing in the book.
When I have a bit more time, I think I’ll give it a try! :)
