#kitten advice

Mom cat gave birth today in the charcoal bag. Uhm. The two spotted ones fell out and hit the porch. Charcoal bag was on a bench I am. Trying to get mom cat to take care of them so far I've had littke luck.

The black spotted is doing good I got them both cleaned but I can't get the ginger spotted to feed so if there's any tips I'd love to know I really want them to live

hi its the anon who was getting a kitten and your advice worked great. so we made her comfortable in our home and now she takes her claws out and repeatedly sticks her claws in the carpet. she doesnt understand when its the right time to use her paw instead of claws, yesterday she wanted to climb on my lap and she started climbing with her claws even though i was really close to the ground. she started biting my dress. she doesnt use her scratching post. do you know how i can fix her bad habits?

She still sounds really little, so most of those she is going to grow out of as she gets older.

We got our kittens to understand scratching posts better by simply moving them to the scratching post if they scratch something they shouldn't. Then showing them with our own nails and then if they don't jump to do it themselves, running their paws against it. They usually get it after that point. Also putting their favorite toy against the post helps.

It'll take a little to get them out of the habit of using the carpet, but if it becomes an issue (like it did for us) you can roll up the carpet and put it behind a couch that's against the wall for a month or two.

The climbing people with claws out is something she'll grown out of soon, I promise. Once they get taller than your leg is while your sitting down they figure it out.

I think it'd also help to not use toys directly on the carpet, instead keeping them to hardwood floors and other things they can't picture or things they should puncture.

Stray kitten?

There is a little kitten that keeps turning up to my work at about 12am, and has also been there at 3am, it’s obviously too young and tiny to be outside and it is so so cute. I have given it a few cat treats and it’s super shy.

There is another tom cat that comes regularly called Rupert and they get on well enough but Rupert tends to get territorial with the kitten.

What should I do?

Cat owners!! Please help!!

How do you keep your babies from jumping onto the counter?? I am very consistent about not letting them up there and if I see them jump up there I immediately take them off.

Today I got home from class and they had broken into a loaf of bread and a package of tortillas (both my roommates’, which obviously isn’t ideal) and the alcohol bottles on top of our fridge were also knocked around.

I’m obviously worried about the inconvenience to my roommates (they’ve knocked things off the counter and broken them before, plus no one likes their food being eaten) and a little bit the hygiene part of it (not so much though) but I’m also worried about their safety! If they had knocked a bottle off the fridge and stepped their little paws in the broken glass I would’ve been so upset.

Please!! Tips!!! Suggestions!! Advice!! Anything!

⚠️Need advice⚠️:

My s/o's cat has tapeworm i got her the tablets for it and gave my new kitten one too to prevent him from getting it to but as I personally have a worm phobia that alone has not put me at ease...we would 100% get her to the vet along with the meds from the store but cannot afford a vet bill atm I was wondering if anyone else has ever dealt with this before I'm worried not only for this new kitten who has barely began life but our own health i don't know if its possible for us to catch this in some way. I've tried talking to my s/o bit just got told he wanted to relax and not worry about it I have diagnosed anxiety and need to vent my worries or I will go insane...idk what to do. Also heres a cute picture of our poor sick lady just cause she is lovley.

I need cat advice. I have a kitten that’s around 5 months old, and she still occasionally attack-bites. I have given her toys that she can bite and play with her. I’ve given her hints and followed a lot of the advice I’ve found online, such as:

- stop playing with her if she bites

- and not engaging with her if she bites (pulling back or giving her attention)

Usually she stops after that but sometimes she still does it. Do they grow out of this?

Other than the biting, I love my cat and she’s really well behaved :)

So Georgie had kittens. Just two. On thanksgiving week. The girl has grown and already opened her eyes, but the boy hasn’t... he is half her size, can’t hold warmth very well, and hasn’t opened his eyes. I’m so worried about him. I’m intending to make some calls tomorrow. We were hoping to set them up with foster care pretty quickly, but it’s taking longer than we thought and I don’t want that little boy to die. I’m gonna have to see if I can hand feed him, since I don’t think he’s getting enough from mama, which will be difficult since I’m working a lot now.

Any advice is absolutely welcome.

Jealous Cat, oh no.

So feline side of Tumblr, I could use some advice.

My Mallow is a 1yr old short-haired calico who has grown up knowing only Belle, the 6yr old long-haired tabby. The girls get along fairly well and they're indoors.

Introduce Shadow, a now 3 month old male black tabby with his mother's friendly disposition. Mostly an outdoor baby who was supposed to go to a new home by now, he is the only survivor of his litter. His moms, the one who gave birth to him and the one who took him in when he was rejected, are both gone. One is dead and the other is missing, presumed dead. His half-sister from the other mom was struck by a car a few weeks ago

He is utterly alone outside. Naturally, I feel sorry for the little guy. He's only not in a new home now because my brother wanted to keep him after losing all the others, and he and Dad live with us at the moment. The house isn't mine; it's grandma's and she doesn't want anymore indoor animals.

I'm worried about nocturnal predators however and have started sneaking him inside around midnight each night (cause she doesn't go to bed until 11) to spend the night.

Mallow already knew about him before all this. I started introducing them in supervised meetings over a month ago to get him socialized for his new home. It was only 5-10 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a week, and the rest of the time, both Mallow and Shadow were content to play with each other through the gap at the bottom of the glass front door.

So note, they are and have been familiar with each other. Their introduction was slow, supervised, and their early playtimes were through at least some kind of barrier.

Three weeks ago is when I started bringing him in at night. That was two weeks after his sister and birth-mother died. His adoptive mother was pregnant again but still let him cuddle and such so I only brought him two nights that week. Then she started rejecting him two weeks ago, and even then I waited a few nights before I started bringing him in. Now, she's been missing for over a week, and he's been in every night since.

He was sleeping under my bed at first but the last three nights he's decided to start cuddling up to me through the night. Mallow is not happy with this, but I can't help it. He's not there when I go to sleep, and I sleep pretty deep so I don't know he's there.

Keep in mind, my attention to Mallow hasn't changed. She grew up knowing I had a busy schedule, first with school and work, then just work and that schedule is awful. She had actually attached herself to grandma before all this because grandma is home more than I am which just makes sense. Still, because of my hectic schedule, my evenings and sometimes days if I work at night, are dedicated solely to Mallow. I talk to her, play with her, and I started doing that WhatTheFluff Challenge cause it's a great game of hide n seek for us. And ever since I started bringing Shadow in, that hasn't changed. I just make a little extra time each morning before work and night before bed to talk to her in her little cat castle to let her know I still love her. Shadow is only temporary until my dad and brother move back into their house which is being fixed, but dad's schedule and his physical disability means that won't be for awhile since he's doing most of the fixing up himself.

So again, Mallow was aware of Shadow before any of this, and was even ok after I started sneaking him in cause they played and played for hours, even while I was trying to sleep, for at least a week. Then he started sneaking into my bed and now Mallow is jealous, won't play with him at night anymore but will when he barges in during the day, and this morning didn't want a thing to do with me.

I don't want a jealous cat and did everything I could to avoid it. So now that it's an issue, I decided to put Shadow up with my brother for the next two nights while there is a free room to hide him in, and today I'm buying 2 cases of Mallow's favorite wetfood, goats milk cause she's not had it awhile and I'm gonna get back on that routine, and a bag of her favorite toy, pompoms, cause hers are all lost. I'm also gonna get a special toy just for her that neither Shadow or Belle is allowed to mess with.

I think this will help, especially if she gets just 2 nights without Shadow, but I was wondering if there's anything else I can do? I know it won't be an overnight fix, but it's a start.
