Sylus, casually destroying me with one line in the Destiny Café again.

“This bed has been empty the last couple of days. So what do you think?”

Excuse me???

And then he has the audacity to say:

“Seeing you with the sunrise makes the sunlight bearable.”

Hello??? He didn’t say “the sunrise with you.” He literally said YOU with the sunrise. As in, you are the thing that makes the sunlight itself tolerable. Who even TALKS like that casually?? Sylus, apparently.

He doesn’t just flirt - he reorients the universe around you and drops it in that calm tone like it’s nothing. I’m unwell.

And it’s not like I haven’t heard those lines before. It’s just… him.

Walking green flag, smooth operator, and poetic menace.

I will never be normal about him.

There is much to be said about the way Rafayel says “cuuutie” when he’s being dramatic, “cutiiie!” when he’s genuinely happy (all smile and sunshine), and “cutie” when his voice drops low - slow and sensual and breathy, thick enough to cling to your skin like heat.

Honestly? I think I ascended. And then descended. Again. Straight into Rafayel-induced madness. No recovery in sight. No complaints, either.

I’m sorry in advance for the person I will become around Xavier’s birthday. A rooftop meteor shower, shared earbuds, and Xavier kissing MC under the stars? You can’t expect me to stay normal.

There’s something deeply unfair about how Sylus’s voice can simultaneously make me want to combust and also put me to sleep. Like, how does that even work?

That Midnight Warmth secret time is the perfect example - but honestly, it’s true for his voice in general. (Though at this point I’ve listened to it so many times it’s actually embarrassing.) He starts with that low, teasing tone that should not be legal (me: I’m not “fussy”, I feel fuzzy, thanks to you, Sylus), weaving between concern, warmth (that laugh!) and seduction (the whispers!) like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

One moment he’s practically purring comments that short-circuit your brain, the next he’s genuinely worried about whether you’re getting enough rest. And I could have listened to the story told in that honey-like voice for the rest of the night and the story’s not even that good.

I have nothing normal to say about his “Let me sniff your neck” and the nibbling. Also: “Don’t bite your lips.” Then what else does he want me to do? Because at that point the rustling was only slightly distracting.

And then - THEN - when I’m clearly not tired at all anymore, he just says, “I need to try something else” and casually drops that line about not waking up in time to collect strawberries in the morning while he’s planting kisses who knows where. Like he didn’t just spend the last 10 minutes being the human equivalent of velvet wrapped around fire.

The man has the audacity to sound both attractive and comforting at the same time. That contradiction is what destroys me - the way his voice carries this underlying gentleness even when he’s being his most provocative. Like safety and temptation decided to share the same frequency.

Now, after so many times, I can listen to it when I actually want to fall asleep because underneath all that teasing, there’s something genuinely soothing about it. About Sylus in general.

Sylus really said “I’m going to fluster you and help you sleep” and somehow made it work. I love him.

Zayne is the definition of still waters run deep. He doesn’t need grand speeches—just a quiet word, his lasting presence, and suddenly life’s problems don’t feel that scary anymore. Zayne is quiet. Until he isn’t, because you already know there’s so much more under the surface than he shows to the rest of the world.

Sylus could tease me into oblivion, but underneath it all, there’s that grounding warmth—like he’s daring me to rest in him.

Caleb in the Destiny Café is a new kind of force. He never says what I expect.

Smug Caleb? You got it. How can anyone be so smooth while talking about hiding snacks on himself while also being the snack? He’s all teasing smiles, suggestive one-liners, and half the time he’s hinting about the bedroom for things that are definitely not sleeping. (Surrender? Sir?? Or when he asks if he’s the one burning up. Excuse me?? I’m the one falling apart here.)

And then suddenly, out of nowhere, he’s on a tangent about work. Or lemons.

He flips into competitive mode and suggests a contest to see who falls asleep faster. Or he leans in and murmurs that I should rest my head against his chest. Or he says things like “I used to sleep by myself for years. Now I can’t seem to sleep well unless you’re with me.”

And I’m just?? Ruined.

Sometimes he gets philosophical. Other times he gets silly. But I swear, every time he talks, I just sit there - giggle-spiraling, kicking my feet, responsible adult status evaporated.

He could say:

“You ever wonder what soil tastes like after a thunderstorm?”

And I’d be like: “Go on, scholar of earth and sky. I’m listening. Teach me.”

Or he could randomly say:

“I added orange juice to the sourdough starter. For science.”

And my brain would go: ohmygodchefCalebdomesticCalebexperimentalCalebhusbandCaleb (*looks into her fridge for orange juice while keeping Caleb’s ramblings to her ear*

And then he actually hits me with such a line.

“I wonder what apple juice mixed with coffee would taste like.”

As if that’s a normal thing to ponder about.

As if he’s not about to test my productivity, my stomach and my sanity - all in one go.

And somehow? I always love him more for it.

Really. He shouldn’t be allowed to have these effects on me. Composure? Never heard of her.

Like. He makes me laugh so fast with the silliest things. And it’s glorious.

(Also: I regret a couple of things in this game. Buying that Supersonic - aka the pilot outfit? Not one of them. I would like to thank past me for this gift. 🫡

Xavier shows up like this. In autumn. Looking unfairly pretty, doing his little nod, asking me what I’m going to do this time. And all I can manage is “yes, Xavier,” while I’m grinding diamonds for the other half of Zayne’s myth.

Could I touch the Xavier birthday funds? Technically, yes.

But will I? NO. Because every time Xavier looks at me like that and opens his mouth, I get all warm and fuzzy.

I hope I can still get the other half of the Zayne myth somehow (without opening my wallet for once). 😭🙏🏻
