Ginger Rogers was born on July 16, 1911, and was one of Hollywood's most famous actresses, dancers and singers during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In the 1930s, Rogers's nine musical films with Fred Astaire are credited with revolutionizing the genre and gave RKO Pictures some of its biggest successes. They would make a tenth and final film together in 1949. Rogers won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Kitty Foyle (1940). Her career continued on stage, radio and television right up until 1987 when she made her last appearance in the television drama series Hotel. She died in 1995 at the age of 83.
