Earth 3534AD. A technological wasteland, due to a war many many centuries ago, where a device was let off, causing a few universes to collide into each other, ripping through the fabric of time, destroying everything that mankind created through the years, making the now present rely on old fashioned methods of travel and communication.
Well that's the pleasant way of putting it. Alecia grew up in London, England. And this is not the large city, full of amazing structures, huge skyscrapers and beautiful scenery, that it was once known for. No in fact it more resembled that of a wasteland. Little life existed, water was scarce, and beauty was a thing of the past. People survived by fighting amongst themselves, savaging like animals for the most simplest of things. And only the strongest survived. Corrupt governments controlled the main cities, causing the residents nothing but pain and anguish. To say that humanity was completely broken is an understatement. There are no laws, no remorse and no mercy. Its a dog eat dog world, and if you don't have the strength to survive you became a victim of its darkness.
But Alecia did try her best to survive this corrupt city. Working as a waitress in one of the bars, that was situated in what could only be described as the slums. It was a horrible job, having to deal with the pigs that drank there, men always treating her just like a piece of meat, but at least she was working. Her parents were both killed when she was sixteen from an illness that plagued the city for years. Leaving Alecia to fend for herself, but her father made sure that she would be able to handle herself, that she was smart enough to run from trouble and make sure she avoided it at all costs. Yea it was impossible at times and some of the things she went through, no one should suffer. But she was a survivor and was determined to one day, have enough money gathered up, to leave the wretched city behind and start a new life somewhere else. She never lost hope for some kind of haven...some place where there was actually peace.
But her life changed as she was walking back home to her little hovel just outside of the city centre. She decided to take a different route that day, due to being some very dodgy looking guys blocking her normal path, and well being that she preferred to avoid being used as target practice for some sick bastard, she chose the longer route. As she walked through the crumbling buildings, the remains of the once wonderful city that she heard about as a young child, she noticed something glittering in the distance.
At first she figured it was probably a piece of broken glass, but as she got closer, she could see it wasn't glass at all and her curiosity was peeked. Looking around her, she walked over to it, picking it up from under the rubble and brushing of the dust. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at the device, she had never seen anything like it before. From what she could tell, it was some kind of watch, a black strap that looked as though it was worn around the wrist, but the thing that confused her was the device attached to the strap. It was like a black box, but very slim, with some kind of screen on top, and a few buttons. She studied it intensely. Wondering what it could be. But hearing some voices approaching her location, she knew she couldn't stick around. So pocketing her find, she rushed towards her home.

When Alecia returned home, she instantly locked her doors, making sure she would not be interrupted, as she sat down on her little couch, that she had managed to salvage from a abandoned building. She took out the device again, and looked down at it, her mind torn between pressing one of the buttons and not. If there was one thing her life had taught her and that was caution. But she was still human and curiosity was always one of her weak traits. Taking a deep breath, she finally found the courage and gave into her weakness and slowly, pushed one of the buttons, holding the device slightly away from her, not knowing what would happen.
At first, nothing did, causing Alecia to sigh out of relief but of slight disappointment too. Part of her hoping she had found something that worked, something from the past, a sign of hope. But just like everything in this world, it was broken. Well that was what went through her mind for all of about five seconds, when the little screen on the device lit up, and a low beeping could be heard coming from it. She looked at the screen, seeing some strange symbols glowing upon it. It must have been some kind of language but she had never seen anything like it before. Once again she was torn with what to do, but she figured, that maybe it was just some kind of watch...but where could it be from?.
Pushing another button, she figured more symbols would appear...but that was not the case, in fact it was very far from the truth. Before she could do, say, even breathe, the device lit up brighter, and suddenly everything around her started to spin. She threw the device down onto the couch and started to slowly back away, but it was no use, the room began to spin faster, though she was still. Soon everything started to fade into each other, everything becoming blurry. The contents of her home could no longer be seen and everything was replaced with a bright white light.
The spinning ceased and everything fell into silence. Though Alecia was frozen to the spot, her hands gripping the back of the couch, her face white with fear, and her eyes wide with the shock of what happened. She looked around her, there was nothing, just her, the couch and the device, which was still lit up. She didn't know what to do, couldn't even call out or help, due to her tongue being unable to utter a word. Was she still home? What was this place? Was she dreaming? All these questions ran through her mind as she sat here, looking all round her.
But as she sat there, the whiteness that surrounded her, started to change, shapes started to form all around her. She watched with wide eyes, wondering what was happening now. It didn't take long for the shapes to take a form, and it was clear that each one was a different doorway. But leading to what? And the fear still strong within her, kept her stuck where she was.
Though as time passed, she knew she had to do something, she had to find out what this was. Finally she reached over and lifted the device, strapping it around her wrist and standing up. She stood in front of one of the doors, just staring at it. Well they weren't exactly doors, as just blackness, but she had to call them something and that was the only thing that made sense to her. But how would that even make sense to her? None of this was something that should make sense to her. But for some reason, as soon as she put on that device, that fear soon started to subside, like she knew to not be afraid. She couldn't explain, but she felt as though she knew what to do. Like some kind of voice deep down in her mind, was telling her what to do. She looked at the watch on her wrist, sighing deeply, before looking at the doorway in front of her. And then, slowly but surely, she stepped forward. Walking into the large chasm of darkness....
