As East Asian myself, I think stress and lack of sunlight exposure is part of it. Also maybe the olive tan skin back then has to do with the animation back in the day? The pale skin color would not fit the color palette of the old series. I mean look at the white of his clothes, its kinda dull. The creator admits that he's a better animator than he was during the old series run. So I think he improved his coloring in addition with digital animation.
i think lack of sunlight would be the most believable reason because of all the gear he wears now. also i’m not much of an artist so i can’t really comment on color choices from an artistic perspective but i think it’s one thing to improve color choices and another to make a change so drastic it almost makes a character look like they’re a different race
Any tips you have for erasing edges for renders?
haha, I had literally no idea what this meant until I googled it. So no? I’m very new to photoshop sorry. I use http://itsphotoshop.com/ for tips, you might find something there.
forgot to hit publish btw an important ask about my and Joyce Chng’s comic that’s on sale now!
Tell A Story
Happy Valentine’s Day, @kitty-marionette! This didn’t go at all in the direction I thought it would, but I like it and hope you do too!

Also, since it’s Valentine’s Day here’s a very little bit of Shallura fluff that I had thought was going in to the story but didn’t make it. Enjoy :]

Dude all of these posts are making me getting a crunchyroll ccount
lol the whole reason i watched it in the first place is because i saw SO MANY people excited after the trailer. i like to watch things a lot of people are into so i can be apart of the conversation/in the loop i guess. maybe it’s bad that i just go with the flow like that lol.
I think you can just watch it without paying for it on crunchyroll though. You’ll just have to wait longer to be able to watch new episodes
I've been stalking your film tag because you reblogged so many good films. Do you know any Middle Eastern historical drama films? (Preferably settings that happened hundreds or thousands of years ago) I need inspiration for a story to write and like some visual media to help me
Lol I’m glad my art hoe taste in PoC/period indie films has inspired someone haha.I’m trying to wrack my brain for the kind of film you’ve described, I’ve recently watched “The Ballad of Tara” a 1979 Iranian film, which was the story of a woman who encounters a ghost from that time period. Also maybe “The Warrior” and “Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love” (by Mira Nair) in terms of time period (not quite Mid East/this is more South Asian???). I’ve tried to watch some Iranian drama series, but it’s hard to w/out subtitles. To be honest, a period film set exactly where you’ve mentioned, I haven’t found quite yet. The movies set there I tend to watch are from directors who’ve grown up in the culture and slide into the more contemporary and into socio-political/personal/surreal art. I’ve seen some films by Mohsen Makbalmaf but I need to expand beyond him???If anyone is reading this, feel free to rec some! Or hit me up if I’m barking up the wrong tree RIPEDIT: I did a bit more digging, and I found another Iranian historical drama called: “The Death of Yazgherd”. I’m eager to check this out too!
