Dear Daisy,
My sweet little kitty. Our love bug, cuddle muffin, playful little cat. I’m sorry. I’m sorry that our son, who you didn’t care for since the moment we brought him home, loves you so much. I am sorry you do not understand his kind of rough toddler love. I am sorry he’s amazed with your tail and wants to take it around with him everywhere. You really can’t blame him. He just thinks everything about you is the coolest!! We all do.
For your tolerance, I thank you. Thank you for not lashing out at him. Thank you for just running away when you don’t want his type of attention. Thank you for not hating us for bringing home this mini person who makes so much noise, so much mess and, no matter where you hide, can always find you. Thank you for accepting less attention from us. Accepting that just some days, we are going to push you away. It’s only because we are drained of energy, not love.
I promise to always love you, little Daisy. I promise, when you do eventually reach your limit and lash out at Lucas, to hold daddy back and allow you to hide. I promise to teach Lucas not to pull your trail, touch your paws and only give you chin scratches, back pats, gentle hugs and kisses. I promise, one day, he will learn to love you the way you want him to.
Just be patient, young kitty. Give Lucas time and I am sure you will learn to love him as much as he loves you. <3
