Moving Forward

           It truly blows my mind how quickly the world works sometimes. Within less than a week of my first blog post, the Uchumi Kinyerezi Group was able to receive the $1,575 loan from various lenders around the world. I wish them well as they head into their next chapter. I hope the money received will create the incentive entrepreneurs need to thrive. I am so glad I was able to bring some awareness to the Uchumi Kinyerezi Group and their cause.

           On another note, I am now moving on to find another group or individual to fund. For the next few weeks my English class will be using databases, libraries, and the internet to gather statistics and information on our candidates, where they’re from, and their field. Though I am not one-hundred percent set on a new candidate yet, but I do know I will be following the same criteria I mentioned in my last blog post. As I am gathering more research I am realizing just how much third world countries are going through. To be a glimmer of hope for one person would be an amazing feeling. To be a glimmer of hope for a whole community would be even better. Especially a community that needs it.

           According to Anup Shah at globalissues.org, in 2013, over three billion people live on less than $2.50 per day. And a good chunk of those three billion people also lack access to decent water sources, sanitation, and education. It doesn’t seem like much, but if one person in a community like this is seeking help, opening up our wallets is the least we can do. We can’t continue to see the change and refuse to be the change. As a society we can be better than that.
