There was something liberating just being inside a moment, that Fletcher was currently experiencing. Being absorbed by time and space, feeling everything at once and just taking it in. It was strange, but it was so freeing at the same time. Just dancing here, in Kizzie’s room, he felt all those things in his heart come flooding back. Ever since Valentine’s Day, it was like these feelings were never going to go back.
He thought it was the light, or maybe even Kizzie’s dress. Hell, maybe it was the fact that they knew each other so well that he was falling for the dolled-up version of her. But even rational thinking knew that was never the case. Fletcher was in the deep end, and he knew it.
So instead they took their date night around the carnival, watching the line ups and wasting money at stupid games which made Kizzie laugh. And here they were, spending the remainder of the date just swaying to whatever was playing on someone’s radio. He looked at her, took her in completely; vibrant locks, bright eyes. She dazzled him, and he would never know if she was truly ever going to feel what he did. But that was never on the table, and he wasn’t going to force her hand on it.
“So...the Backstreet Boys were pretty neat, huh?”
