Why do the blood transfusions in Dracula work?

Doylist explanation: Blood types were first discovered in 1900, so Bram Stoker couldn't have known about them when he wrote Dracula in the 1890s.

Watsonian explanations:

Lucy has type AB+ blood and is therefore a universal recipient

The Suitors and Van Helsing all have type O- blood and are therefore universal donors

Lucy has the same blood type as Van Helsing and the Suitors

Blood types don't matter anymore once you get bitten by a vampire

Bonus: combination of 2 and 3 (Lucy has the same blood type as some of the men and the other men are O-)

Walpurgisnacht (April 30th / May 1st) - Dracula's Guest

Today (or rather tonight) (April 30th / May 1st) is Walpurgisnacht aka the time that the events of Dracula's Guest take place.

Dracula's Guest is a short story by Bram Stoker. Scholars are divided as to whether the story is an early version of the first chapter of the novel Dracula, or a scrapped first chapter of that novel.
