Klarion had been around practically since the beginning of the universe, and with all his centuries of existence, there was nothing he could regret... Or at least, that's what he liked to believe. Because there was one thing he would never forgive himself for, something that haunted him every waking hour: leaving you alone and unprotected in the presence of a red-haired human specimen.
Technically, you two weren't siblings, but in a way, even when you were both just intangible entities wandering the cosmos, you were inseparable. Inexplicably, you and Klarion had formed a bond that could only be described, by human standards, as siblinghood, something rather foreign to the other Lords of Chaos. So, when Klarion went to Earth, it was no surprise to anyone that you wanted to follow him. After centuries of pleading and negotiation, you were finally allowed to do so.
Ideally, Klarion would have wanted you to work for the light, but considering that your presence on the earthly plane had brought an imbalance between order and chaos, the Lords of Order only agreed to your stay under one condition: you were forbidden from using your abilities for chaos. Essentially, you were to remain a spectator, and that never bothered you. Earth was a new world that, while you couldn't conquer, you could explore.
And that was fine, of course Klarion might have preferred you to be another agent of chaos, but he was satisfied to at least have your company, something he would never admit. He took you with him practically everywhere, and this time was no different. It wasn't a big deal anyway; he just had to catch Baby Justice. How bad could it be?
“So... do you come here often?” the redhead you barely recognized asked, a silly smile with pearly teeth directed at you as if he weren't your brother's prisoner at that very moment.
You giggled, feeling warmth rise to your cheeks. You weren’t naïve, you’d learned the ways of men on this plane. He was flirting, and honestly, it was adorable.
“What was that?” Klarion complained, his brow furrowed as he looked between the redhead and you, as if he had just witnessed something truly inconceivable. “You!” Klarion hissed, pointing at the cute redhead. “Stop trying to interact with her.”
“For God's sake, Wally, we're trapped with no way out, and you're flirting with the enemy?!” the blonde woman, who was unknown to you, scolded him, genuine anger in her tone of voice, covering her mouth when she realized she had revealed Wallace's name.
“Wally...” you savored the syllables in your mouth, tasting his name coming off your lips. You liked it. “Wally, is that your name?” you asked, fluttering your eyelashes as you sat in the corner of the abandoned warehouse where Klarion had chosen to carry out his plan.
“Yes, I’m—uh—Wally…” Wally practically purred, smiling like an idiot as he held onto the shiny red bars created by your brother's magic, and the current prison of Young Justice, or as your brother called them, Baby Justice.
“Enough, stop doing that with your eyes!” Klarion snapped, jabbing a finger dangerously close to your nose.
“Do what with my eyes?” you let out a guttural sound of displeasure, rolling your eyes at your brother's efforts to restrain you from interacting with the cute speedster; you were no stranger to men, but there was something about Wally that you simply liked, he was charming.
“That thing!” Klarion replicated your exaggerated fluttering of eyelashes.
“I didn't do that.” You denied it, petting your familiar, a rather small and sleepy little thing that went everywhere with you, almost always oblivious to what was going on around it.
“You did it!” Klarion had always been overprotective, and on the one hand, you wondered if that overprotectiveness was really based on affection or simply his obsession with being in control. “You should know by now that it's best to stay away from men. I've seen what they do to women! They seduce them, then leave a parasite inside them that will consume them for nine months and then tears its way out! It’s horrifying!” he seemed almost genuinely repulsed by the idea.
“You mean... pregnancy?”
“Whatever it's called, it's disgusting!”
You had never witnessed anything causing him such a reaction of revulsion, but apparently pregnancy had been his breaking point.
“No one is getting me pregnant.” You muttered, rolling your eyes. Klarion’s dramatics were nothing new, but they were always exhausting.
“Unless you want to...!” Wally chimed in with a hopeful grin, almost like a puppy desperate for attention, earning himself a slap on the back of the neck from the same blonde who revealed his name.
“No! She doesn't want to!” Klarion screeched, his face twisting into that demonic snarl that made everyone’s hair stand on end.
“No one is getting me pregnant!” You defended yourself by raising your voice to the same level as Klarion's.
“Great! Let's keep it that way!”
You sighed, exasperated and embarrassed. It wasn’t even certain that you and a human were biologically compatible to conceive life. You rolled your eyes again.
“Don't roll your eyes, I...” Klarion’s rant was mercifully cut off by the buzz of his Light communicator. The witch boy muttered a few things and then pointed at you. “I have to go, you're in charge.”
Before you could protest, he vanished in a burst of fire, leaving you alone with Baby Justice.
“So... you haven't told me your name.” The redhead inquired.
A small smile that you tried to contain appeared on your face as you turned to him and nodded in response for a few seconds, just watching those huge green eyes that were trying to put a name to you. So you gave him your name.
Aqualad watched you, unbeknownst to you, he and Robin had been on the lookout for you for quite some time. Batman had warned them about you, the bat had been the first to notice you, and using his great detective skills, he had managed to gather the little —if not nonexistent— information available about you, information he would later entrust to his protégé and Aqualad. They had seen you, in the shadows, silent and always following Klarion. They always expected you to attack, but you never did.
“What is your relationship with Klarion?” Robin asked.
You raised an eyebrow, coming out of your thoughts. The prisoners should know better than to demand answers from those who had imprisoned them, but you gave in... Without moving an inch of your body, you moved your eyes to look at him, your tone softened, though all the warmth you’d shown Wally vanished.
“We are... born of the same.” That was the only information you were willing to give.
“So, siblings?”
“Yes, you could call it that.” You refused to give any more details, and they seemed satisfied with that.
“You are not part of The Light,” Kaldur interjected. It wasn’t a question, it was a deduction, and a pretty accurate one at that.
“No, I am not.”
“So, you gain nothing by keeping us locked up here.” Robin continued.
“No, I do not.”
“Then why not let us go?”
You shrugged, preferring to say you had no reason rather than try to explain how the Lords of the Universe had forbidden you from acting in favor of chaos. But would it really be chaos if you let them go? I mean, Klarion was causing chaos by keeping them trapped, so freeing them would create order... or would it?
“Please...” Wally pleaded, that silly smile still on his lips. “I’d really like to go on a date with you, and I don’t think I can do that if your brother kills me.”
You didn't really need convincing; the idea of freeing them had crossed your mind ever since this adorable redhead made eyes at you, but deep down you didn't want to go against Klarion's plans either. Would you really choose a human you met a few minutes ago over your brother?
You snorted and turned to them with a sympathetic face. “If I free you, you’ll leave, you won’t stay and fight Klarion, deal?” You bargained, knowing that if a confrontation ensued and Klarion ended up losing, it would only unleash even more of his wrath against you than freeing them in the first place would have.
They looked at each other, clearly communicating telepathically, they looked at you again and nodded. You grumbled, you didn't want to release them because that would go against Klarion, but you had always been softer.
You concentrated, unfamiliar words that had no place in human tongues flowed from your lips, and in a second, the magical prison that held your brother's prisoners had disappeared. Suddenly there was silence. Superboy was the first to act, or at least he tried to, ready to jump on you. Kaldur stopped him, holding his arm, and Conner reluctantly accepted the order that needed no words.
“Thank you.”
“Go, he'll be back soon.” You urged them, and they accepted without saying another word.
“Wow,” came a low whistle. “You're even prettier up close.” Wally flirted, already at your side, courtesy of his speed.
You wanted to remain indifferent, but you couldn't. A smile formed on your lips, your cheeks warm. “You have to go.” You insisted.
“Aren't you even going to say goodbye? Will you at least let me ask you out?”
“Kid Flash! Let's go!” Aqualad insisted, looking at him sternly.
Your heart was beating fast, not so much because of him, but because of the idea of Klarion returning at any moment and starting another fight against them.
“The Gotham Cemetery,” you blurted out. “I go there every Friday to read.”
“Ugh, do I have to wait until Friday to see you?” He groaned.
“Yes, now go.”
With a flick of your hand, your magic gently lifted him toward Aqualad. A shimmering hand of light patted his head twice before disappearing. You watched them go, catching his green eyes one last time. At least until Friday.
Klarion reappeared in a swirl of fire, smoke, and theatrically bad timing. “I’m back, Baby Just—” He paused. The warehouse was empty, silent. No magical cage, no prisoners… No Wally.
Just you, casually sitting in a wooden box, swinging your legs like a child who had absolutely not just undone his entire plan. Klarion blinked twice. Then three times. His eye twitched.
“…Where,” he asked slowly, voice too calm to be real, “is. Baby. Justice?”
You cleared your throat. “So, funny story—”
“You let them go.” He was on you in seconds, stomping in furious little circles. “You let them go! You freed them! You freed Baby Justice!”
You shrugged. “They asked nicely.”
“Asked nicely?!” Klarion shrieked. “I am a Lord of Chaos! I have ends to wreak and earth to torment, not to be thwarted by polite manners!”
"Relax. Your reputation remains… mostly intact.”
Klarion made a strangled noise.
“Also,” you added lightly, “I have a date on Friday.”
The warehouse somehow grew quieter.
Klarion stared at you. Then stared harder. Then harder.
“A DATE,” he repeated hollowly, like the word itself was poisonous and personally insulting.
You nodded.
“With the human. The carrot-haired one. The one who smiles like an idiot. The one who says ‘bro’ unironically. The one who REEKED OF SNACK FOOD.”
“His name is Wally,” you corrected gently. “Besides, since when do you know about the use of the word ‘bro’?”
“Not… You… Corrupted by a SPEEDSTER…”
You patted his back sympathetically. “There, there. I’ll be back before dinner.”
“You’re not allowed to date humans! They have parasitic reproductive cycles!”
“Klarion,” you warned. “Do you want to come and watch from behind a tree?”
His head snapped up, eyes glowing, expression feral. “Yes.”
You smiled. “But you’re not allowed to interfere. Or threaten him. Or hex him. Or make him implode, explode, or in any way permanently alter his biological composition.”
Klarion’s lip trembled. “...What if he tries to hold your hand?”
You paused. “Then you’re allowed to glare.”
Klarion stood taller, pride restored. “Good. Excellent. Acceptable. I am the embodiment of emotional restraint.”
A neglected reader x batfam where she's dating klarion 👀.
Like.. Imagine, the reader was loved by Bruce and everyone in the fam but ever since the death of Jason, they begun to forget about her because of their grief. They distanced themselves without even noticing, busying themselves with works and crime fighting.. Not noticing that a certain someone had been distancing themselves.
Reader is the type of person who doesn't like to chase after someone. If she feels that she's being pushed away then she'd just back away.. Of course she'd try to communicate with them but if it keeps failing then she'd stop. She also noticed how her father took in Tim and that was when she gave up.
She'd often sneak out of the mansion and that's how she met klarion. Reader somehow befriended both Child and klarion. Her friendship with klarion became something more and then BOOM! She's dating him (very odd trio considering that child and klarion are both chaos Lords and have a very poor relationship with one another but let's pretend that reader somehow befriended the two of them 🙂)
-🔱
I'm really trying to do these in order, but damn, do some of the newer stuff you send unsmooths my brain-
This is me when I saw the Lost Twin Sister of Bruce, and One Night Stand asks you sent:
Post scriptum- Slighty murderous reader- unintentionally murderous if you will :))
I heard your Child and Klarion- I'll get there- I just want to get this little thing outta my head.
After Jason died and everyone grieved in the worst way possible, maybe you included, you were understanding, taking care of Bruce and Dick even if they were short, but that quickly ended when Tim came around, took Robin's place and started getting the families praise for what she had been doing before he came.
Any pity you had for them died and got buried with Jason, and you've become a silent menace.
So, when newly escaped from the assassin's league Jason saw your 16 year old self grumbling to herself while chipping at a ledge Bruce and Tim started using as their perch point for surveilance- he couldn't help but smile. It was methodical enough for the bats to think it happened naturally, a bit there, a bit more on the chips that already existed- it'll be sturdy enough to hold Tim, but as soon as Bruce lands, they'll both go down.
You flinched at his voice from beneath you, leaning over a sturdy part of it, only to be met with a red helmet across the building, the man standing on the balcony in one of the smaller apartment buildings.
"...Mind your own business, motorbike fetishist."
Jason snorted as you went back to work, cleaning up. "I don't think the bats would apreciate you messing with their shit." And you just huffed. "Well, I don't appreciate them sending my boyfriend to hell. And this is public property."
"Boyfriend?" Jason didn't come back from death just to have you thinking you're grown and, good heavens, DATING some lowlife in prison. "Minding your own business will keep you alive, newcomer."
The anger only got worse when he found out how they've been treating you, and that the boyfriend was actually a Lord of Chaos, and they didn't even know it.
Speaking of- that's about how you met Klarion and Child.
They were ignoring you, so you took the chance to let out some steam. It was small inconveniences at first, all left shoes going missing, switching around the place of things on their belts, mixing red food dye in the softener.
Alfred knew it was you, he saw you standing in the middle of the kitchen and staring at the cupboard, and the next hour he heard a crash and found Tim crying, in one hand his coffee mug, in the other the cupboard door- matter of fact- every cupboard and countertop door was on the floor as if Tim simply opening one created a domino effect. He didn't say anything. If they couldn't tell it was you, that was their problem.
That escalated the more Tim took over, starting to act like he was the only one Bruce needed. Maybe it was a mix of jealousy and anger, resentment- you weren't sure, but it did get worse, both your feelings about them and your mischief.
Klarion already had his eyes on the family, on Bruce, so when his senses tingled when one of his brats essentially became Discord reincarnated, he was giggling up a storm- he didn't care about the undead one anymore- you were more fun.
He enjoyed it- watching you put sticks in their lives, creating cracks in Bruce's relationship with Selina, making Tim so paranoid that every day he's on the edge of a breakdown, Dick's life was a mess around this time anyway, the little pushes you gave from afar just made everything thumble down.
He didn't expect the help he gave you for free, pushing things towards you and giving you ideas in your dreams, and he sure as hell didn't expect to do such a human thing as falling in love.
It made him cackle. Him? Falling in love with a human? He'd laugh until his stomach hurt just to ignore the longing in his chest. But he couldn't watch from the shadows forever, it wasn't his style, and when you almost slipped into the Lazarus pit as you were fucking around with it- he simply counldn't have hisfavorite human die.
You became friends. At least in your mind, he was already gathering information on binding your souls to one another. Not just one way, he wanted to show you how willing he was to trust you with such an important part of him.
Soon enough, you met Child, and initially, she "befriended" you just to annoy Klarion, seeing him throw tantrums over you being busy with her was entertaining. She had to reevaluate the choices she made that eneded with her in your room, watching some shitty horror movie as you painted her nails.
She knew she was in deep when you looked at her with a smile, calling her and Klarion your best friends. She hated it. She was so angry after, mainly at how easily she let her guard down around you, how happy she got when around you.
She got why Klarion was so enamored with you. Child took it upon themselves to protect you... Protect to a lord of chaos meant something different- especially adding in Child's hate toward Klarion.
The witch boy knew the blonde was trying to mess with his relationship with you, jokes on them both, you already knew they both were crazy and enemies, so you really didn't believe anything that they said about the other one.
And above all, Teekl was utterly obsessed with you. The familiar was on you whenever it could, refusing to leave your lap most of the time and purring constantly in your presence. Poor thing would get so annoyed once your relationship with Klarion became official, and he'd try to touch you while the cat was in your embrace.
Bruce didn't notice shit. But John Constantine sure as hell did- well, he saw the cat and connected the dots.
At first, he just thought the thing bonded to a human by accident and decided to stay for the warmth and cuddles. He's seen you dote on the thing like it was a baby, for fuck's sake. And then he met Klarion and his familiar. The same one you took care of.
Yeah, he wasn't going to have Bruce's kid on his mind- Klarion's probably draining her energy or whatever his little evil self is doing (like whining and crying your ear off when the Young Justice League don't want to play with him but are entertaining Shazam)
And thus, why you are upping Bruce's and Tim's misfortune, even if you know that your lover will be back tomorrow.
Jason uses this card in the big fight with Bruce, and the man has to stay awake the whole night just to think of a way to bring up to his daughter this- I mean- what do you even say to your teen daughter dating a 16 million years old Lord of Chaos?
...
He goes out as Brucie that night, getting so hammered that he barely remembers the discussion. He freezes when he sees you with that blasted cat, feeding it caviar. Alfred's look says that Bruce is on his own with this.
Sorry the ending is a bit rushed, I have a wake This weekend and a funeral plus exam on Monday
I still wanted to get this out tho so enjoy!
Magical girl y/n masterlist
Bruce could deal with a lot more than the average person could ever imagine
He’s dealt with a literal killer manic clown
Aliens
Vampires
56 assassins attacking him at once
Literal end of the world events once a year at least
But he doesn’t think anything compares to what he finds himself peering in on now
When he adopted a daughter who fights shadow creatures that feed off of negative human emotions and want to literally eat the universe he knew he was gonna see some weird shit
The weird cosmic ferret, he’d mentally dealt with that already
Same with the Magical weapons that transform and how his new daughter could change her appearance at will
That he could all deal with
But watching his daughter paint her nails with Klarion the witch boy, lord of chaos while they talked about sailor moon wasn’t something he thought he’d have to grapple with
So instead he closes the door and ponders his life and how it got to this point
How you somehow befriended the witch boy started as all good things do
Accidentally finding a someone being tormented by Shadowmites that you have to then kill
But oddly enough instead of the usual human it was…a cat?
An orange cat with distinct blood red eyes and striped black rigged markings
It hissed and scratched at the Shadowmites but was unable to harm them much to its confusion
Until you whacked its assailants with a hammer making them dissipate into nothing
It stared at you and you stared at the cat
And it just kinda tagged along with you for the rest of your patrol
To be fair…having a ultra intelligent possibly eldritch creature in the disguise of a regular animal wasn’t really a “new” thing to you
So when the cat began to follow you it didn’t really bother you much
If anything it was kinda funny especially since Rigel seemed to have an almost silent companionship with the feline
Staring down at the ginger cat from his perch on your shoulders as you continued your nightly patrol
Chittering and barking as the cat meowed back occasionally
If at this point you questioned anything in life anymore you’d be curious as to how their seemingly communicating but now you couldn’t really care
You were just happy the seemingly demon cat got along with your ex-deity ferret
Along with the fact that this seemingly aggressive cat who tried to scratch the eyes out of anyone who got too close for its liking seemed to enjoy your presence
Even at one point during your food break curling up in your lap wanting to be lavished in attention
The violent cat being reduced to a softly purring mass of fluffy orange hair
Black leather collar and red gemstone attached to it
This was definitely some bougie cat, almost definitely a supernatural one as well considering it saw Shadowmites
But the collar definitely implied an owner
A rich one at that too
So you post online with a picture of yourself and the cat asking for its owner
Mostly since the collar had some type of ancient language not spoken by you in a hieroglyphic type of alphabet
Cool as hell
But impractical to you as you tried to Google translate it
He’ll you’d even sent a picture to dick and all you got back was garbled nonsense that looked like he slammed his face against a keyboard
Which was probable since he was on yet another coffee bender where he stayed up for too long
Alfred would definitely not be pleased
But back on topic of the eldritch Garfield cat, eventually you got a response
But not via online
More like in person since a figure then materialized in front of you via scarlet fire
And there floating in all his glory was lord of chaos Klarion the witch boy
Looking back maybe you should have payed more attention during that one league meeting your dad took you to where they talked about him
To be fair though, at the time you were surviving on 2 hours of sleep, a combination of redbull and monsters along with hopes and dreams
So you couldn’t be blamed in remembering he had a cat familiar
Or said cat familiar was likely an eldritch level entity in the form of a cat
A cat with red eyes
….ok maybe there were more obvious warnings and you were just excited about the weird cat to notice
As you had a mental debate with yourself there he stood, hair pointed upwards into what looked to be horns and in a suit
Magic twisting around him in a scarlet aura
Distinctly you notice patches of ice blue on the tips of his fingers that quickly distort to the flesh tone consistent with him
And from then on out the encounter with him is…odd to say the least
His cat (whom you then learned was named Teekl) getting up from your lap
Klarion is….odd
He scoops up his familiar fretting over the ginger cat, making subtle threats your way the entire time
Asking the kitty if he had to “erase someone from existence” once again
But luckily for you whatever the cat meows to him is enough for him to cast a glance back to you
Though now not out of suspicion but instead curiosity
(Something perhaps to others would be just as bad)
He quirks an eye at you, looking you up and down once more but now giving you a proper look
Now seeming to notice your own magical aura and companion of otherworldly nature
And suddenly something clicks in his head
“You’re that magic girl I’ve heard about.” He says gliding a hand through the fur of his familiar, the demonic cat purring in content.
“Bit vague of a statement, but yeah that’s one way to describe me I guess” you respond shrugging your shoulders laxly, he seems on edge even with your demeanour.
“And your…not attacking me? Not trying to play goody-two shoes? And “bring me to justice” with a big speech about doing good” He almost seems to hiss this out. A defensive air to him.
“Look dude, I deal with weird inter-dimensional shadow creatures that feed on negative human emotions” you explain pulling out your magical weapon in the shape of an axe, you close an eye and aim while biting your tongue before throwing it to hit said shadowmite clinging to his shoulder. The creature gives out a cry, before dissipating into a melting puddle of inky black sizzling liquid, he stares down now seemingly more intrigued. “I don’t deal with robberies or anything besides those things and the occasional helping someone. Plus I’m decent friends with a few villains of the city”
“I’ve been trying to kill that thing for ages…” he pauses whisky looking down at the creature. Teekl hisses at the disappearing remnants of the creature. “How come your able to destroy them?”
“Only magic from their realm can kill them, I’m the only one with access to it ”
For a long moment the witch boy goes quiet, staring at the spot the puddle used to be. He turns his face to you once more, a smile on his face. “I think I like you Magic girl. Your more interesting than I thought.” He says this so suddenly that your left a bit baffled yet you give him a thumbs up. This seems to make him more amused as a portal opens beneath him, “I’ll be in touch”. With that he left
As he said Klarion would appear to you a few nights later on your lunch break during patrol
Quite literally appearing from nowhere as he laid down kicking his legs back and forth
Along with stealing some of your fries
You had to resist the urge from stopping him from stealing your food, it was still hard getting used to having an abundance of food now
There was no more scraping together to afford cup ramen from the 711 cashier who’d pretend not to notice the missing 50 cents
No more going to go to bed hungry because of the free lunch program at Gotham academy and reasoning you’d save your scraps for dinner the next day
No more barely scraping by just to survive
But never truly live though, surving was different to truly living
You couldn’t call your much of life before your adoption as living
The only moments you did truly feel alive was when you’d save someone or watch old reruns of sailor moon or cardcaptor sakura
Forever dreaming to be a better hero like them
To be a pretty sailor scout who saved the day despite being scared
To be able to enjoy something as mundane as skating on roller blades without potentially being mugged
Though your trying to get used to having free time
Having a Better sleeping schedules
Having Food
And having free time
It’s still feels odd
Still is weird to finally have time to yourself with nothing to fill it with
Even like now on your break during patrol you don’t know how to spend it
But now at least you have more company to fill that uncertainty of what to do
Curiously Klarion eyes your weapon, before finally speaking aloud
For awhile he asks mostly about your abilities
The extent of your power and what type of magic you could do
Showing him your weapon and transformation seems to cause him more questions
Especially since he mumbles to himself about your magic being different to anything he’s seen
As a lord of chaos it was safe to say he was adverse to almost all types of magic there was to offer
So seeing something this new and odd after millenniums of years of being alive is certainly a sight
He even says so to your face
Which brings up the question to you, after so long he’s still a kid?
You get that he probably ages slower than most, almost all magical creatures or people did
But after so long he was still a kid?
You can’t say you relate
You grew up too fast
But maybe that’s why your equally intrigued by the horned boy
You begin to notice that at some point he began to watch you from afar during missions
Sometimes from a rooftop
Other times it’s from an alleyway
Klarion watches and you always find yourself waving to him
But as time goes on he gets closer
Even if Damien or Jason tag along with you
But neither seem to notice him
No one but yourself ever does even if in a crowd of people he’d be someone they’d be fleeing from
Definitely some sort of magic stuff
Or maybe he was just oddly good at blending in
Either way you see him and wave and he gets closer each time
As does his vists during your break where he asks you questions of your magic
Your abilities
What the shadowmites are and what their goals are?
Are they fully sentient?
Their all things that you answer him as best you can, now bringing extra food for him so he didn’t steal from you anymore
Yet despite that he always steals a fry
Probably something he finds funny and something you find yourself less anxious about now
In a lot of ways he reminds you of a cat which is funny considering his familiar
He watched from a distance before getting closer and closer as time went on
Mischievous and sometimes a bit spiteful but with a playful edge like a cat pushing something off a shelf with fluffy claws
Positive interaction usually being something that pushes him farther away at first but now gravitates him closer
It’s odd
He’s odd
But so are you
A lord of chaos and a magical girl definitely weren’t titles that upheld the pillars of normality
So it’s perhaps not odd either of you are the way you are
And yet it draws you both closer like magnets all the same
Meetings get more frequent
As do more topics of much more mundane things being brought up
He asks you about human things he doesn’t understand, questions he’d feel to embarrassed to ask any of his “allies” due to not wanting to be written off as an oblivious kid
Because for as much as Klarion tries to be taken seriously he’s still subtly looked down upon
His chaos seen as little more than that of a child being given godly power to wield at his command
But over your talks you come to see there’s much more to it all
Lords of chaos function differently to humans both physically, emotionally and mentally
What was seen as mindless abject chaos to others was an art form and way of living and expression to them
A means to express and delight in the non-orderly nature of the universe, to live not constricted to the boundaries of reality itself
Constructing a landscape of Picasso paintings come to life or making a smiley face by moving the stars out of their places in their solar systems are a sort of expression to him
They viewed the universe as their canvas
That could be both good and bad in various ways
It’s the same in the fact too much order could be bad
Because chaos and order are a revolving door that need one another
They weren’t objectively good or bad, just neutral in nature until the scales tipped too much in one direction
Because complete anarchy is objectively terrible but so it a totalitarian police state
Both are bad in different ways because the scales are unbalanced
And now he’s left one of the last of his kind, for better or worse
And he’s a lot more lonely than he’d like to admit
Because he’s surrounded in a sea of beings too unfamiliar to his own
Orderly creatures in an orderly society in an orderly world and in an orderly universe or at least that’s how it feels to him
Human bodies function in certain predicable patterns as do the ways their societies work. Cogs and Gears working orderly in a intricate machine
And that makes it all the more confusing and alien to him in a bad way
But you can understand feeling alike to society even if you are human
So you try your best to explain to him
And even if at times he still seems confused he seems appreciative that you try
That you don’t seem to look down on him for not understanding humans and how humanity works as a whole
Because how can anyone assume that he would when he’s a lord of chaos
It’s literally in the name
And from then on it grows
The interest beyond the supernatural to the mundane
You show him the little things in life
Taking him in disguise to your favourite hotdog stand on a corner of a dodgy street down to walking him around Gotham and almost getting shanked along the way
All the while you show him that humanity is quite as orderly as he thought
He sees graffiti sprayed on brick walls, tags of neon colour of names that people try to scrub off but stubbornly and triumphantly remain
A person in odd dress on the street corner waiting for a bus, the way in which their clothes don’t mesh at all and the colour clash but they wear it anyways in style
The little shortcuts you take him to through alleyways and through abandoned buildings still standing to the test of time.
By his smile you think he comes to appreciate it all
The small signs that the machine he assumed humanity to be wasn’t just that
Cogs and gears too big or too small, bringing a bit of chaos in their wake
He knows your identity, you’ve known that he’s known for a long while now, and yet for some reason you trust him with it
Just as he trusts you to treat him all the same while in his true form
Blue skin, red eyes and all
And he’s seen you too
The girl behind the dramatic cutesy clothes, magically changing eyes, hair, face and height
You were just you
Klarion was just Klarion
And Tekyl and Rigel tagging along with it all
But to be honest you’d never thought he’d trust you enough for this
Whats this exactly? Oh well just him dragging you along to a meeting the Light was having as his quote on quote “human translator”
Aka explaining to him human things he didn’t understand
Aka him just wanting you there to sit with him for the duration of said meeting
Your not sure how this happened
Neither is any other member except the old man your pretty sure is Damien’s assassin grandfather
You can tell by the pointed emerald green eyes, similarly deathly composed demeanour and the same look of surprised/somehow impressed he gives you similar to when Damien sees half the shit you deal with
Speaking of which you’ll need to get him on board with Klarion to have another member for clue night
But that was a later issue
The real issue was right now
Klarion arguing with half the people here as you stand there more exasperated than anything
The witch boy occasionally shaking you by the shoulders…and climbing on you hissing and swiping at people who got too close
You see why a demon cat is his familiar
But even Teykl seemed a bit annoyed by his behaviour by how she rolled their eyes
Didn’t know cats could do that but hey, teykl’s also a demon cat so there’s probably a lot she can do compared to regular cats
Just as cute, but more lethal though instead of just getting a quick swipe at your hand
A door opens, a new contender for the fight
Though luckily (or unluckily for you) it’s Deathstroke
Instinctively you wave
And that pauses the fight
“Hey, how was that job abroad? I haven’t seen any dictators dead yet”
“You’ll be seeing it in the news soon, but what are you doing here?”
“Klarion brought me”
“Ah”
“You have a shadowmite on your shoulder, hold on, lemme get get it for you” and with that you transform you magical weapon, sparkles fly as a bright light momentarily flashes the room. In your hands was a battle axe, pink with bows and ribbons flowing as you chuck it at the invisible creature now made visible on Slade’s shoulder when the blade imbeds itself into the things flesh. It screeches reaching a shadowy hand as it’s pinned to the wall, prying your axe from the wall it falls to the floor but can’t get free as you hold it down beneath your foot. There’s no last words for the creature, just hungry screaming for its next victim until the axe comes down on its head severing the tie from this world.
The room is silent for a few moments, “you could’ve killed it with just the throw if you aimed a bit more to the left. Besides that you had good form”
You get to sit between both Klarion and Slade for the meeting
Somehow you doing your hero job impressed (more like terrified) this group of villains
Maybe it was manifesting your weapon from thin air within the blink of an eye
Maybe the fact you threw it at Mach 1
Maybe it was the fact that you could’ve summoned it at any time, make it any weapon you wanted including a bazooka at will
Or maybe it was learning your keeping the literal universe from being eaten on a daily basis from inter-dimensional shadow creatures who’ve eaten countless realities already
Fun thing to explain to such a diverse group ranging from a evil billionaire, a dictator and two immortal men who were older than dirt
The entire meeting you end up keeping Klarion from impulsively deciding to leave because he found it boring and drawn out
To be fair to him it definitely was, but how he’s gotten away with disappearing 30 minutes in each time was beyond you
So somehow you do the impossible
He stays the duration of the full meeting
It’s a first for everyone
What’s also a first is that Tekyl hasn’t gone off and scratched some unfortunate members leg like a scratching post
Mostly because she stayed perched in your lap along with Rigel
Later on when hanging out with Klarion on a roof your not surprised when he mentions that you’ve been offered a “partial membership”
He laughs and burns the letter for you
You’d think that the meeting between Damien and Klarion wouldn’t go well
And you’d be mostly right
At least until Damien spotted Tekyl on klarions shoulder and somehow the two ended up talking about things
And looking past the being a hero and being an super villain they got along well
Well enough that your now slightly worried for anyone who sent you weird messages online again
Because now they’ll have to deal with Tim giving these two their up address
But beyond that you feel bad for Bruce
Because dear god when he finds out Damien invited the lord of chaos to movie night
Jason was gonna love him
Your iffy about Tim but you know Dick is gonna practically wedge himself into the three of you hanging out before Damine threatens him or Klarion sends him halfway across the world or something
Besides all of that though your happy he gets along with Damien
That he has another human friend
Your also proud of Damien as well
Though you do wish he’d stop giving Klarion new ideas for his schemes
Showing him MLP wants a good idea when the character of discord existed
Yeah he had a field day when he was introduced
Chocolate rain and literal actual cotton candy clouds had a lot more of an environmental impact than shown in the kids show
Thankfully it was only the UK that suffered the side effects
And a very pissed off John Constantine
At some point you and Damien begin to sneak him into the manor
Somehow Alfred knew and can only smile and warn the lord of chaos to turn things back to normal before he leaves
And so the fun begins
Damien shows him his swords collection and bat cow
You end up binging madoka magica with him and your collection of magical girl figures
He ends up showing you and Damien some of his magic
And the infinite pillow fort in the corner of your room is born
It literally goes on forever…you think
Is there an end? You don’t know, but all you do know is that at some point you went in there and emerged 7 hours later still not reaching the end
Kinda like the backrooms but with less monsters and piss stained looked walls and carpet but instead with pastel pillows and my melody and kuromi merch scattered around
Now having permission to appear in the manor, or at least in yours or Damien’s rooms he sometimes appears at odd hours of the night
Like you’ll wake up at 4 am and find him hanging out in your room
Sometimes resting in a corner quietly with Tykl
Other times just poking around your room with curiosity, examine various nick knacks you have
Photographs and poosters
High class Jewelry and handmade bracelets
Old magical girl shows on equally old cds and the new HD releases on blue-ray
Books that were yellowed and brand new ones piled on a shelf
He admires them all
Turning them over in his blue palms or tracing them fondly with a pointed finger
He sees the wear and tear in the old and the loving upkeep behind it all
The new items that you gratefully covet like the old
There’s an unexpected and uncharacteristic fragility to his actions
A certain look in his eyes that faulted under the weight of your own once he realizes your awake
In which he then finds himself sitting at your side
Crossing his legs and pretending to stare at nothing in particular
Though you see his gaze occasionally flicker from your window showing the Gotham night and then back to you
It continues like this until you take his hand and get up from bed
Dragging him through the darkened halls
Depending on the night schedule of that particular day sometimes the two of you go to the gardens
Sitting down on the marble benches to listen to the calming sound of water flowing from the fountain
His hands shifting and turning to create illusionary magic
A rabbit hopping through the air in streams of starlight
Like the white rabbit of Alice in wonderland, then slowly leading you to the land of dreams
The next morning you wake up in your bed as if nothing happened
The only proof of the night before being the flower crown he made for you to match the one you made him still on your head
Woven in messy hair
Other times you show him to the library but not before a small detour to the kitchen
Taking the secret stash of Alfred’s beloved cookies to snack on as you read together by the fire
Your duvet blanket wrapped around the two of you and was dragged halfway across the mansion floor
Surely leaving a small trail of feathers in its wake that’ll lead Alfred to you in the morning
And depending on if Damien is there that night you go to knock on his door
Your brother in everything but blood opening his door and inviting the two of you in
Thankfully Damien’s bed was renovated to be big enough to fit him and his pets
So the three of you can laze on it comfortably without being pressed for space
Sometimes a board game is pulled out
Other times you all just talking until passing out
And sometimes when you fall asleep first both he and Damien talk heart to heart
About what exactly your not privy to
But your just happy both get along so well after the bumpy meeting
Sometimes Bruce calls you along with the justice league if they need your help with him
Honestly it’s flattering and funny at the same time
You can’t help but feel a bit bad for his teammates who see your pastels and instantly known that Klarion is gonna pull out the battle in an instant
He used to complain about it
But now the minute you show up and politely chid him for nearly exploding a building he snaps his fingers and things are back to normal
And then he teleports you away to hang out as per usual
Is this usual to everyone but yourself and him and maybe Damien? Highly
But do you care? Not exactly when you have a friend
And also end up helping Bruce/dad
To be honest your still unused to calling him dad yet
You definitely view him as your dad, he’s been the only one besides Rigel to fill that role
But it’s weird saying it aloud
Of carving it in stone
Putting it to paper
Saying how you feel and being emotionally intimate when you’d built up walls and barriers
Opening up is still hard for you, even after various times you had let people in
You’d think it would get easier to open the gate around your heart but there’s always a hint of hesitation each time
Like a twitch in your fingers
A whisper in your mind
Because you care for people
You care about your new family, your friends, Klarion included
And it’s hard each time to feel the guilt of hesitation
Because it isn’t them but it’s you
You feel it now as you sit atop the top of Gotham
Watching the skyline as the cool air blows past
You wish to be open
To speak your mind and break down the walls but it feels so hard in the moment
So odd showing your hand
The cards up your sleeve
Opening the always shut door
How do you even introduce that? Hey here’s my heartfelt feelings
Each time you’ve done it beforehand it’s felt so awkward
So weird starting off
And then you get emotional
And start getting teary eyed and people ask if your ok and that makes you break-
Klarion is the one who starts first
It comes from nowhere, like a sudden burst of chaos that makes sense for him and a surprise for you
He explains to you that “when I gaze at you i see mortality incarnate”
Something that will last moments to him in his life yet will haunt him for the rest of eternity
Like a glass doll that will inevitably break and yet in its fragility holds incomprehensible beauty
A blazing fire that’ll eventually burn out yet it’s gentle warmth lingers
A memory never forgotten and always there even if the moments is long gone
He’s lived so long and will continue to live even when your long gone
He’s similar to Rigel in that regard
Something and someone so consequential that they’ll last millions of years
You’d only become important from chance compared to him and many others
They were born great, with powers or had qualities that made them special
You became a magical girl because Rigel picked you by chance (or at least that’s how you felt)
And yet here’s a lord of chaos, an god in almost human form saying you were important
That you were special besides your powers
He explains to you that he’s met many magic users
Some competent others masters
Yet none were like you
But what was initial the thing that drew him in didn’t matter
One day he would’ve forgot, it would’ve faded from his chaos filled brain eventually
But what remains is you
Not the magic, the thing that made you special
But you
Just you at your most plain and simple
It wasn’t the magical girl who saves Gotham from an invisible force that not even he could fight
Not the frills and magical transformations or weapons
Not the limited magical abilities that could make you level a building easily
It was just you
All the times you’d shown him through the streets of Gotham
The willingness to explain to him concepts of humanity he didn’t understand
The kindness in your gaze when he shows you his true form without a hint of apprehension
“And it’s there” he says that he comes to value you for all your worth, humans for all their worth
Because despite their fate set in stone
The fact that they can die so easily compared to just about everything in the galaxy
Despite it all they shine the brightest somehow
Because beings like himself have hundreds of millions of years to do something with their lives
To shine slowly and at a snails pace becomes stars
But humans with their short lives make the most of it all
They may die but in those terminally short years to others in this large universe they become a supernova
And their impact is heard and felt across time and space itself
Because sometimes despite it all an ant can move a mountain and that’s a whole lot more impressive than when a god does it
And an ant doing it will always be more impactful when it knows that at the end it’ll die moving that mountain
But does it anyways
“This…may be be a weird question but in a hundred years when I’m dead and gone…will you remember me?” You ask this in a moment of fragility, looking up to the smoggy night sky. Distantly you see the small glimmer of starlight hundreds of millions of lightyears away behind the pollution. “Even if I’m a blip in the grand scheme of things”
Klarion looks to those same stars, with a swipe of his hand the sky clears. For the first time in a hundred years Gotham sees the natural night sky. The dark navy blue of midnight and the hundreds of thousands of speckles of light dot the sky. “I will, somehow you humans make longer impacts than any creature I’ve ever met. For better or worse” it’s spoken in sincerity as he looks with you at the night, and distantly he chooses a star and decides that it’s you. A star he’ll one day look at when your dead and gone, a star that might already be dead and fizzled out and yet its light and impact still crosses the galaxy hundreds of thousands of years later to still shine, to still meet his eyes in the infinite dark if night.
A star that he would nurture and protect
To keep its light from going out
A star that one day he’ll clutch closely as the universe comes to a close from natural causes or the ravenous mouths of the creatures you fight
He says his piece and opens the way to say your own.
Prompt: Klarion struggles to show his emotions, so he does what any rational immortal would, freezes time.
"You’re quiet tonight," I observe, glancing at him as I cross the street. “Did you finally run out of things to complain about?”
I pop another chip into my mouth and finish the carton, crumpling it in my hand. We’d spent the last few hours at my apartment, but when I said I couldn’t be bothered to cook, we ended up walking to a fast-food place instead. Now he’s walking me back instead of teleporting us, which is a miracle. I tell myself it’s fine, I could use the exercise.
Klarion kicks a rock down the street, hands shoved deep into his coat pockets. The streetlights cast that weird orange glow on the pavement, and for once, he’s not talking.
“I’m thinking,” he says eventually, grumpy as usual.
“Dangerous habit.”
He shoots me a glare. “You’re very smug for someone who can barely handle their own kitchen.”
“You burned popcorn last week,” I remind him.
“It was experimental fire magic!”
“It was a microwave. You should’ve just asked me to show you how to use it.”
He huffs, looking away, “You’re lucky I tolerate you. And that stupid microwave.”
“Oh, tolerate, is it? That’s sweet. Really warms my heart.”
He mutters something under his breath, too low to catch. I smirk. “What was that?”
“Nothing,” he answers quickly. Then, after a beat, he floats to catch up to walk next to me. “You could do worse, you know.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Worse than what?”
“Then me.” He keeps his gaze fixed forward, tone annoyingly casual. “Mortals throw themselves at all sorts of useless, boring creatures. At least I’m interesting.”
“How much worse could a Lord of Chaos possibly be?” I say.
He tilts his head, pretending to think. “Well, you could end up with one of those dull little Justice babies.”
“So, my options are you or a guy in spandex?”
“I’m simply saying I’m a catch.”
“You just admitted to almost setting my kitchen on fire.”
“That was controlled chaos!” He gestures with both hands, a little too dramatically.
“Pretty sure it screamed when you pressed the start button,” I remember the weird sound I didn’t think a microwave could make.
“Machines are weak,” he insists, crossing his arms. “They fear me.”
“So does my smoke alarm.”
He glares, and I can’t help but laugh. “You think this is funny,” he mutters.
“A little.”
“I’m trying to be nice!” he blurts out suddenly, and it takes me a second to realise how sincere that sounds coming from him.
“This is you being nice?”
“What do you expect? Flowers? A serenade? Mortals are so particular.”
“I’d settle for a new microwave.”
He sulks, “You’re impossible.” He’s quiet, hands deep in his pockets. After a pause, he says, more uncertain,“You could still do worse.”
“You’ve said that.”
“I was making sure you heard it.”
“Oh, I heard it.”
“And?”
“Still thinking about the guy in spandex.”
He groans loudly, tossing his head back like I’ve personally offended him. “Ugh, why do I bother blessing you with my presence.”
“That’s a question for both of us,” I say. “Would you stop coming over?”
“And deprive you of my company?”
“I’d survive.”
“You’d suffer.”
“Not really. I’d probably get a new microwave.”
“You’re obsessed with that machine,” he declares. “It’s unhealthy.”
“Says the immortal chaos gremlin who visits my apartment uninvited.”
“Visits?” He scoffs. “You should be honoured. Do you know how many mortals get my attention for more than five seconds?”
“I don’t know- three?”
“Less!” He points at me, triumphant, like he’s proving something. “See? You’re special.”
“Because you decided to loiter in my kitchen?”
“Because I chose to!”
“That’s… not the compliment you think it is.”
Klarion stares at me, clearly offended. “You mortals are impossible to impress.”
“Maybe don’t lead with ‘You could do worse.’”
“It’s true!”
“It’s not flattering.”
“It’s factual!”
I grin at him, just to make it worse. “So factual, it’s romantic.”
“I can be romantic,” he snaps.
“Oh, sure.”
“I can!”
“Alright, then, prove it.”
“Fine, I will!” He stops walking, throwing his arms out dramatically like the street’s his stage. “When the stars burn out and the seas run dry, I'll be there!”
I blink. “That’s… kind of intense.”
“It’s poetic!”
“It's sounds like a war declaration.”
He glares. “I hate mortals.”
“You keep hanging around one.”
“That’s different.”
“How?”
“Because you’re-” He stops, grimacing like he just bit into something sour. “Never mind.”
I smirk. “Because I’m what?”
“Don’t.”
“Say it.”
“No.”
“Say it, Klarion.”
“I will not-” he starts, but then his voice cuts off.
The world cuts off with it. The engines of cars pause, and I notice because the city has never been quiet.
Klarion exhales sharply, dragging a hand down his face. “I can’t do this when you won’t take me seriously.”
I blink, glancing around at the silent, motionless street. “You froze time because...?” I drawl out.
“Because you mock me!” He points an accusing finger, expression somewhere between furious and mortified. “Do you have any idea how difficult this is?”
“Talking?”
"This!” He gestures between us, pacing a few steps before spinning back around. “You! You make jokes, and you roll your eyes, and then you smile and I-” He stops himself, groaning into his hands.
“You’re the one who hangs around me, you know what I'm like,” I remind him softly.
“Exactly!” he snaps, voice cracking a little. “That’s the problem.”
I raise an eyebrow. “I’m the problem?”
“Yes! No- ugh, don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you think this is funny.”
“You’re yelling at me in a frozen street. It’s a little funny.”
He makes a strangled noise of frustration, pacing a few steps in a tight circle. “You don’t get it. I don’t do this. Mortals, friends, whatever this stupid thing is. And you- you act like I’m just some… stray cat that won’t leave you alone.”
“Well,” I say carefully, “you did break into my kitchen that one time.”
“Because you said you missed me!” he blurts out and then looks like he immediately regrets it.
I blink. “I said I missed Teekl.”
“Same difference!”
“Not really.”
“It is!” He drags a hand through his hair, muttering to himself. “You’re infuriating.”
“You’ve mentioned that.”
He stops pacing. For once, he’s completely still, eyes on me, expression oddly serious. “I don’t want to be your friend,” he says finally.
The words hang there, flat and blunt and a little too honest. And I feel even myself pause at his seriousness.
I open my mouth, but he keeps talking, voice lower now. “I don’t want to be the annoying thing that shows up when you’re bored, or the chaos you feed fast food to. I just-” He hesitates, struggling for words. “I want to be something else.”
I stare at him for a moment. “Something else,” I repeat.
“Yes. Something that’s not… this.” He gestures vaguely between us, then grimaces. “See, now it sounds stupid out loud.”
“It’s cute,” I respond, smiling before I can stop myself.
He groans, throwing his head back. “You see?! This is what I’m talking about! You never take me seriously!”
“Because you say it like a riddle,” I reply. “Just- what are you trying to tell me, Klarion?”
He falls silent. Then, through clenched teeth, “I like you.”
The way he says it, clipped, like it physically hurts, makes it somehow worse and better at the same time.
I blink, trying to process that. “You like me.”
“Don’t say it like that!”
“How else am I supposed to say it?”
“Like it’s not embarrassing!”
“You stopped time to tell me you like me. We’re way past embarrassing.”
He glares, red creeping up his neck. “I could leave this whole planet right now and pretend it never happened.”
“You could,” I say, smiling faintly. “But you won’t.”
He hesitates, and that tiny moment of silence is the closest I’ve ever seen him come to shy. Then he waves his hand, muttering something under his breath.
The world slams back into motion. Sound, wind, the city breathing again. A car horn blares in the distance like nothing happened.
Klarion immediately starts walking again, faster this time, head down.
I jog a few steps to catch up. “So… you like me, huh?”
“I will turn you into a frog.”
“That’s not a no.”
“It could be if you keep talking.”
“You’re blushing.”
“I don’t blush!”
“Sure, sure.”
He glares over his shoulder. “Be quiet.”
“You like me, though.”
He groans, picking up his pace again, muttering something about “mortals and their stupid faces.”
I grin to myself and catch up, looping my arm through his. Our hands brush, brief and warm, and neither of us says a word. For all his power and posturing, he sure doesn’t pull away.

Random Klarion fic as I work on longer ones
Authors notes:: oh my gosh. I’m going to need everyone to take this with a grain of salt because i haven’t written anything since i was like. Checks my watch. Twelve 😭😭. This is mostly just for fun. Apologies in advance for any ooc
Klarion was many things. A lord of chaos, a symbol of power. He knew many things as well, given that he’s been around since the beginning of the universe. So. Why couldn’t he just figure this out.
It didn’t start immediately as he met you. You were just as every other mortal here on earth, dull, boring, sickeningly predictable with your hope and your justice.
You were powerful, he’d give you that. Powerful enough that he actually has to put some focus into your fight together. He eventually won, of course, but he found himself not taking the final blow and putting an end to your pitiful life. “Only because you turned out to be an entertaining plaything”, he’d told himself.
But then. Even after those stupid heroes came in for backup and he had made his leave, he was still thinking about you. And he couldn’t figure out why. He didn’t want you as an ally, that’s for sure. Nor did he find himself wanting to kill you. So what was it?
Not knowing was infuriating. He was a lord of chaos, for gods sake! He should know everything! He had checked off every list in his mind on why you could still be lingering there, and then even checked to make sure you didn’t put some sort of hex or curse onto him just to be safe. Still. Nothing.
. . .
The next time you two crossed paths, it was because Teekl had ran off somewhere while he was doing some business at night. (Stupid cat! Running away from me like that, I should just fly away instead of looking a gift hound in its snout!)
Instead of finding Teekl chasing down a mouse or something of the sorts like he’d expected, he found her— ? Sitting in your lap as you pet her on a bench in the park?? And as if his mind wasn’t already reeling, when you looked up and saw him standing there, instead of attacking you just? Nodded your head and smiled at him?
“Oh, great. Another justice baby. Is this the part where you demand a rematch??” He barked sarcastically, crossing his arms and rolling his eyes
“Nah, I’m off duty.” You replied, “Plus, it doesn’t seem to me like you’re doing anything ‘villainous’ as of this moment.”
Klarion uncrossed his arms and blinked at you once. Then twice. You- didn’t seem to be lying?
“This is your cat, right?” You asked, looking back down at the purring feline in your lap “..Yes. Her name is Teekl.” Klarion answered skeptically, as you responded with a hum and went to stand up “Well, it’s getting late. It was nice to meet you Teekl!” You chirp, stroking the cats soft fur once more before walking away, leaving Klarion standing there.
“..What …. Just happened?” Klarion spoke to no one in particular — very few people had caught him off guard like that before. Deciding to simply not think about it, Klarion snapped his fingers and teleported himself and Teekl away.
Only. It seems that plan isn’t actually working out so well, given the fact that it’s now been three weeks since his run in with you at the park and he’s STILL thinking about you. In fact, it had only gotten worse from your first meeting.
Why did you act so unbothered upon seeing him? Is this all some sort of big master plan to take down the light? ..or …. Did you truly just see him as some guy, instead of a great entity? He wasn’t sure how he felt about that thought, nor what answer he preferred more.
You definitely seemed..odd. In your own way. Odder than some of the other heroes he had met. You had an odd fighting style in the way that he couldn’t predict what move you’d use next. Irregular. A little risky, but also coordinated in a way that seemed to only make sense to you.
Odd that normally those goodie two shoes heroes would seem to hold a grudge with him after a battle, but you didn’t. Odd in the way that you were treating him like any other average joe— which he would normally be offended by, feeling the need to prove his power. But for some reason, with you, he didn’t seem to mind.
He was panicking, pacing back and forth, overthinking if he had lost his touch and gone soft when Teekl spoke to him. “Mmrrroooww”, she said calmly, as if she was asking about the weather
..Klarion, on the other hand, was not so calm about her suggestion. “WHAT?! Are you CRAZY? Of course I don’t like them! Don’t be a balloon!” “Meow” Klarion stopped dead in his tracks and angrily turned in the direction of his cat “BUFFOON, BUFFOON, YOU KNEW I MEANT BUFFOON!!!”
. . .
As much as he tried to laugh off what his familiar had said, he couldn’t shake it. Stupid cat. Of course Klarion didn’t like you— You’re a HERO! He HATES heroes! Plus! He’s a lord of chaos, and lords of chaos don’t do such mundane things as having crushes.
He doesn’t understand what Teekl could think he saw in you. All you stupid heroes are the same! With your— with your shiny gadgets, and stupid speeches, and fancy moves, and.. and …your pretty smiles… and….. shit.
And suddenly everything had made sense to him. Why he seemed to be so drawn to you, why he couldn’t stop thinking about you.
It made sense, but at the same time… it didn’t. For the first time in over a millennium he was experiencing something new. New feelings. He thought he had learned everything in his time both on earth and off of it, but apparently not.
He knew of romantic relationships, of course, he wasn’t stupid. He had just.. never really thought about it much or shown interest until now. He had never felt this way before.
And honestly? It was scary. He didn’t even know where to begin with things like this— he didn’t know why you were so different. What if he messed it up? What if this is the only shot he gets at something like this?
There were so many unknowns, but he did know one thing for certain. He was going to try. It might be a little chaotic, yeah, but what isn’t when he’s around
The alarm clock went off at 2:30, and you quickly got out of bed, turned off the other alarms scattered around the room before they went off, made your bed, and finally started your daily routine. You went to the basement; your house had two basements, one that was obviously the most typical, under the stairs, and the other hidden between the shelves. Going down into the basement, you pulled the old shelf before pushing the stone wall and finally entering. You pulled the shelf to hide it before closing the stone wall with the handle it had. There, in the dark, you pulled the cord, revealing a simple light. You quickly went to the treadmill in front of the setup and started running in your gym clothes. You turned on the computer and put on your headphones, listening to the news and reviews.
Once you finished running, you got off the treadmill, stored it in the corner again, and sat in the setup chair. You looked around and surfed the internet. You had your own way of making money, and that was through the internet. You were a vtuber and a Vocaloid composer. Your vtuber persona was cute, and when streaming, you used a voice modifier. And although everything was a lie, it brought in money.
As for the music, it came from the letters you wrote. You wrote letters about your feelings, what you hated, and in them, you used robots to sing. You wanted to avoid being discovered at all costs, and though it was hard work, it made good money. Once you turned off the computer, you grabbed the paper from your notes and went to the cabinet nearby. You opened it to reveal the great wall of discovery, each red line marking something, but that wasn’t what you wanted to see. You crouched down and grabbed the box, opening it and placing the letter with your frustrations inside. Once you closed the cabinet, you locked it with the key around your neck and finally left. Since it was still very early, you went to take a shower, brushing your teeth at the same time. You timed every second, it was routine.
With your dirty clothes already in the wash, you took the opportunity to clean the house. Your parents worked hard and had heavy sleep, so cleaning quietly was perfect. With the house tidied up, you saw that it was already 5:00, and finally, after waking up, you decided to eat. Keeping your weight was ideal, so once everything was done, you went for breakfast, making coffee and food for your family. Obviously, you ate first, and once you heard the steps and grumbling of your parents coming down to the kitchen, you had already set everything up. Your father’s strong black coffee and your mother’s weak coffee accompanied the food of the day. Once your parents came down, you greeted them with the first word of the day.
“I’m going to the library today; I want to go back to school already smart,” you said while grabbing your backpack, making your mother smile with pride while your father also smiled. It was clear it was a lie; you weren’t going to the library, but they didn’t need to know.
“Do you want a ride?” your father asked as he finished his cup, and you smiled while shaking your head.
“No, thanks, I want to walk to exercise!” you said, and your parents agreed. With that, you left the house with a smile and walked through the streets until you finally disappeared from your neighborhood and finally wore a neutral face. As you approached the street, you went to an alley behind the alley where the teleporter was. You opened your backpack and put on the black glasses, checking if the black veil was in your bag. According to the previous lines, it was today that you and your team would fight against that robot. You put on your disguise to remove any trace of your civilian identity—nothing heroic, something casual, but still hidden. Once you were ready, you left the alley and went toward the alley with the teleporter.

Once inside, you were greeted by Megan, whom you only gave a silent nod to, not noticing the slightly sad expression on the alien girl’s face. You passed by Superboy without even saying hi, and then you made your way to Kaldur, who was texting Red Tornado. Hours passed, and Wally and Robin arrived, already running excitedly. Everyone was gathered, though you were standing a bit further off, leaning against the wall behind the group, observing. You felt the furry paws of the animal climbing onto your shoulder. It was obvious it had teleported. It looked at the group with you.
“Having fun?” it asked in a low tone, in a language you knew. You just sighed.
“I want this to end soon,” you responded in the same language, watching as the group now ran to see Red Tornado approaching. You didn’t follow, you already knew what he would say, so you took the opportunity to pass by, with the animal on your shoulder.
You smelled something burning and went to the kitchen. You grabbed your watch and watched the minutes pass. As soon as you heard footsteps, Megan came flying while opening the oven with her telekinesis. She placed the burned goods on the counter, and everyone gathered to look while you were still there, putting your watch away.
“I tried making Grandma Jones' recipe from episode 17, but never mind.”
“That’s what happens when you copy recipes from shows,” you said, looking around, not at the others.
“You were here (hero), why didn’t you turn off the oven?” Robin asked, turning to you.
“First, they were already burned when I arrived. Secondly, it’s not my responsibility; incompetence is her irresponsibility, not mine,” you said, adjusting your glasses, looking at the group, with Megan now looking guilty.
“Well, he didn’t mind,” Robin said, looking at Megan while pointing to Wally, who was eating the burned cookies.
“Hmm, I have a strange metabolism.”
“Can I... make more?” Megan asked uncertainly, only to hear you mutter, “So you can burn them again?” You mocked in a low voice, before petting the animal still on your shoulder.
“That was kind of you to make these cookies,” Kaldur said, looking at Megan, with you getting closer to the group but keeping your distance.
“Thank you, Aqualad,” Megan said before he interrupted.
“We’re not on duty, call me Kaldur’ahm, actually, friends call me Kaldur.”
Wally observed the situation before swallowing the cookies and speaking flirtatiously.
“I’m Wally, see, I’ve already entrusted my secret identity to you, unlike my colleague with sunglasses,” said the redhead, pointing at Robin.
“Batman forbade the prodigy boy from revealing his real name.”
“Hahhaha, but you forgot I’m not the only one, there’s (hero) too!” Robin said while pointing at you, arms crossed, looking at the group, with your sunglasses hiding your bored eyes.
“Yes, true, although I can’t complain because this adds an air of mystery and charm,” Wally said, throwing his arm around you and getting closer, only to receive an elbow and have his arm removed with a disgusted expression.
“Don’t touch me,” you said, already pulling away.
“Mine isn’t a secret, it’s M'gann M'orzz, it’s an Earth name, and I’m on Earth now,” Megan said, speaking cheerfully, watching as Superboy looked at you, who was leaving. He started to follow you but was interrupted.
“I hope I can be your friend (hero).”
You held the door, and the other held your head.
“GET OUT, DAMN IT!” You shouted before hearing Megan’s voice again in your head.
“What’s wrong? I don’t understand,” she said.
You clenched your fists in anger, nails pressing against the wall.
“I... said stop...” you said in a low tone.
“Everybody on Mars communicates telepathically, I just wanted—”
The voice stopped when you screamed.
“I SAID TO STOP, DAMN IT!” You shouted while grabbing the knife next to you on the counter beside the door and throwing it, making it lodge in the wall behind Megan. The girl stopped, startled, looking at you.
“We’re not in the damn Mars, we’re in fucking EARTH!” The others also looked as you stared at her with pure hatred.
“Do it again, enter my fucking mind again, and I will kill you, heard me, bitch?!” you said quietly, with Kaldur turning to look at the cookie shapes, now trembling slightly, and the lights flickering, almost nothing. You sighed as you turned, hitting the door frame with your head, sighing.
“I...” Megan looked at you from a distance before Kaldur said, “Things are different on Earth; here, your powers are extremely invasive.”
Wally leaned forward with his hand over his mouth, speaking quietly.
“And, of course, invading privacy is something you should avoid with (hero). She’s hot-headed, better not make her angry.”
Megan looked at you, who was at the door, and felt a wave of guilt. She murmured, “I... didn’t mean to.”
“S.T.A.Y.A.W.A.Y" you said, sighing without even looking at the girl. Although you had come back so far in time, and had gone through telepathy, you didn’t return to the habit, and now it felt like several knives were being driven into your head. Normally, she did that with Superboy and the boys, not with you, and you hated that. You hated that she did this to you, caught you by surprise, invaded your mind.
You left the kitchen, holding your head, staying by the couch, looking at the wall, fists clenched.
“Hello, Megan! I know what to do!” She said cheerfully while tapping her head and floating away, with the group following her. Robin stopped to look at you. He thought of going to see Megan approaching again when he was about to speak to you. Robin pulled her hand and waved in denial. He then came closer to you.
“(Hero)... shall we go?”
“GET OUT...” you said strongly, with hate in your tone, while rubbing your head. Robin raised his hand to touch you but looked at the animal on your shoulder and withdrew his hand. He wanted to avoid making you angrier.
“Please...?” He pleaded, waiting a few minutes, before hearing a sigh. Then you turned, he smiled, and left while you followed him from a distance.
