∘Hi @gurstingasketch! I had never even heard of eye primer until I went to esthetics school. Now, I won’t bother wearing eyeshadow without it.
For this demo I’ll be using Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion in the Anti-Aging formula, which is essentially their original Primer Potion but with anti-aging benefits.
These are swatches of the same color, Buxom’s Wild Nights. The top swatch is primerless. The bottom swatch was placed on top of Urban Decay’s Primer Potion; my absolute favorite primer. Sadly, my phone couldn’t take a photo that would truly convey the loveliness of this color, but believe me, it’s gorgeous.
It is a bit disappointing to see a beautiful color in a palette only to find that, when you try it at home, the true pigment is somewhat lacking. The primer ensures that you’ll get the best possible color during your application.
This is what is left of both swatches after I attempted to rub off some of the color. The top swatch is nearly gone but the bottom swatch is still going strong. If you frequently rub your eyes this is a big bonus. (Hi there, Leo socks.)
Every look at yourself in the mirror midday and see those strange horizontal lines in you shadow? This happens as we blink. The skin on our lids is thin, and creases a little each time we close our eyes. Through the day our eyeshadow will wear away from these areas leaving “shadow creases.” The primer keeps your shadow looking flawless all day.
Neato Pro-Tip: The Anti-Aging Formula (and ONLY the Anti-Aging Formula) can be used 360° around the eye AND makes an excellent lip primer.
Urban’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion also comes in three other formulas:
