[Ende Gelände] In den letzten Tagen waren wir im rheinischen Braunkohlerevier und haben die Massenaktion von #EndeGelände begleitet. Es gab eine Menge offensichtlich überflüssige Gewaltakte seitens der Polizei, während sie friedliche Aktivist*Innen von den Gleisen trugen. Klimacamp in Augsburg, Germany

Climate activists in Augsburg in Germany started camping next to the townhouse to protest the poor laws and policies regarding climate change in Augsburg and the rest of the country.

What was meant to be just a few days of sleeping next to the townhouse turned into a permanent camp that has been standing for 314 days now (since July 1st 2020) - and it looks like there are a lot more to come. The camp's motto is "Wir campen bis ihr handelt" (We will be camping until you act) and so far the actions our government has taken have been way too few to combat the climate crisis we are facing.

Since covid cases have spiked at the moment there are fewer activities organized by the camp, but all through winter there have been lots of protests, lectures and other actions to draw attention to the camps demands (seen in picture 5) and force the city's government to listen to their people.

The climate camp in Augsburg has been an inspiration for countless other climate activists in Germany and there have been several camps in other cities based on Augsburgs camp.

The camp offers free food, sleeping bags and mattresses, working wifi and electricity to the people staying there and free education on climate change to anyone who asks.

The whole camp is working on strict covid rules and anyone who doesnt follow them is banned from the camp.

On a more personal note, the people that organize this and stay there everyday (there have to be always at least two people there or the camp doesnt count as a protest anymore and will be dispersed by the police) are incredibly nice and actively work towards building an inclusive space.

I'm posting this as an inspiration, since this camp has been called the future of climate protesting in Germany several times and actively caused some change not just in individuals but on a bigger scale as well.
