A Klimt-inspired palette with my style of watercolor painting. Can’t think of a better way of telling you I appreciate everything you’ve given me than incorporating them in a portrait of you. I wrapped you in a Klimt-inspired cloak to keep you warm and comfy…and I know you love Klimt. I gave you plenty of books to read, The Bell Jar being the focus among others because it touched me as it did you (I suppose)—-Plath is phenomenal. On the wall, I hung The Frida Complex, a reminder of our fierce wild side. And, again, it was you who showed me the beautiful badassery that is Frida. The reflection of you on the background is my take on “Call Me By Your Name”, (somewhat). It was beautiful. Thank you. And the Klimt-swirls to adorn your mirror…And of course, your love for drinking was not overlooked. You see, I’ve made careful considerations painting this portrait. I didn’t want it to be just a painting of you (like an I.D). The portrait version of you will never be lonely because she has margaritas (fuckyeah PARTY). If what they say is true, that everything that’s made with passion (and admirable patience) has a piece of the artist’s soul in it, if this portrait comes to life when no one’s watching, I bet she’d have a blast reading and drinking. This is for you, Jaybee.
