What would I want out of a Life is Strange prequel?

I don’t know.

Well I do know but we already know the prequel is maybe about Chloe and Rachel. So, what could this add to the story of LiS 1? Or, what could it add to our understanding of the characters and situation of LiS 1?

A central of the LiS 1 is the mystery of Rachel Amber. It was gleaming information about Rachel and Chloe’s relationship, Rachel’s relationship with the rest of Blackwell and Arcadia Bay, and how all those things brought Chloe to the mental place she is at the start of the game. A prequel could tell us those things, give us context. We know how it ends. We know its not going to be happy. The surprises would be how we got to the start of LiS 1 and how it subverts what we know.

Rachel Amber is a mystery. We get surprising little information about her from LiS 1. We only really know her through other people, so a prequel playing as her or a new character who knows her could give Rachel more characterization. I didn’t really get into Rachel as a person more than Rachel as a mcguffin. I didn’t feel like we got enough to know her as a person.

But what would I actually want from this? Do I want to see what Jefferson and Nathan did to Rachel or Nathan’s attack on Chloe- Hard No - do not want. Would I want an exploration of new and old characters? Maybe. It would give life to some underdeveloped secondary character in LiS 1. Do I want an exploration of Chloe and Rachel’s relationship? Maybe again? I’m conflicted because I don’t know what DN would do with it. I would be interested in a story of people coming together in love but one party realizing they don’t feel as strongly, that could be an interesting topic to explore. Going into their feelings and motivations, what got them together, what split them apart. Did Rachel get addicted to harder drugs? Did Chloe legitimately talk about Max a lot? What was Frank’s role, someone Rachel cared about or an easy explanation to get away from Chloe? How does Jefferson fit in?

And that’s just story. If it is about Chloe and Rachel, are they going to come up with stuff to explain the Spirit Doe? Is it going to be unexplained powers based but something other than time? What gimmick is going to be used? Will the game even be choice based?

And I guess I’m afraid it’s going to feature queer girls suffering where queer girls and young girls in general are not allowed to be happy. I don’t need that message again.

Also I will be upset if they try and pull “Oh Rachel was never actually wlw bisexuality doesn’t exist” crap.

Just rewatched the ending (...okay my edit) and I wonder if DN realized they were writing a mental ill queer girl with suicidal tendencies (as in chloe really doesnt know but blames herself) or if they thought Chloe was just giving a good summary of the upcoming binary choice?

I know I’m generally hard on DN and their writing but it does prove to be remarkably lacking of thought sometimes.

The scene is great because it tells us a lot of things. First off, Chloe still thinks of Max and remembered her birthday. And, she cares a lot about Max. This is William’s camera. Chloe has a lot of conflicted feelings about William’s death but she still loves him and holds onto mementos. But, she willing to give one of those mementos to Max.

Max understands just what it means to be given the camera. She recognizes what it means to Chloe and what Chloe isn’t saying aloud by giving it to her.

It really drives home the fact that despite the year apart and the lack of communication the hurt that it caused, these two girls love each other. Each cares about the other. And, it felt natural going back into their old groove, even if that groove has a new tune.

Walking around Chloe’s house to Santa Monica Dream is such a good moment. It really sets the mood about how much time has past and how much distance is between them, while also reconnecting Max and Chloe and their old habits.

god i hate it when shows have these villain characters that start to slowly change and then proceed to do the ‘redemption through sacrifice’ trope

the show was honestly pretty much perfect until that moment so i’m gonna ignore that part completely

I saw Solo tonight. My thoughts below the cut.

Okay, fine. Real thoughts. I was... underwhelmed, I guess? It was better than TLJ, but that bar was buried six feet under, so that means nothing.

There was some really yucky ableism (yes, the guy with the scars is evil. Sooooo original and not offensive at all /sarcasm), and it was slow and monochromatic in areas, and I was pissed that Val was killed off. But it wasn’t quite as awful as I expected it to be (which... is still kind of meaningless because I thought it was going to be really really bad, but I guess it might count for something?)

But Enfys Nest was awesome. A pirate who inherited her title and her mask from her mom, is sympathetic to the Rebellion, and is generally an all-around good guy? I love her. I love her so much. I’ll take a live-action trilogy, an animated tv show, and an entire series of novels, please and thank you.

... Am I the only one seeing Sky more gaunt, his muscles not as defined and less of him now than he was in the military. Like he  lost weight?

Jerk shows me scenes cooking now because making meals for two and he likes cooking. ....I don't think he was cooking before. I don't think eating was much in his routine of driving himself into the ground to try to get himself to stop thinking. >.>

Came out in a couple drabbles two cooking for Wes and one weird backstory about how an extrovert managed to wrangle Sky over for many a fajita night at his apartment with wife and his toddler back on whatever military base in the states Sky was stationed at before being deployed overseas because Primus knows the introvert isn't going to be inviting himself over anytime soon >.>.

I know Sky's been wanting to get back to running, wanting to get back to "what I had". I just knew Sky let himself go I wasn't thinking wasting away and I don't like that idea but I keep getting images and yeah muse feelz over on his AU blog so I came to huddle on my own blog right now.
