Sweet Leban, 2901 Honolulu Ave, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA 91214
A newish Lebanese Armenian bakery café, Sweet Leban bakes a wide variety of cookies, croissants, eclairs, cakes, baklava, lahmacun, manakish, and more. Custom cakes are also available. Sandwiches (e.g., basturma, sujuk, lebni) were reasonably priced at $10 - $12.
The pastries and cookies were not labeled and I didn’t see prices, except for the breakfast items, sandwiches, and drinks (e.g., Armenian coffee).
Ma’amoul filled with pistachio paste ($2.08): this was a big cookie, the exterior of the cookie was dusted with powdered sugar. It was like a shortbread cookie (not too sweet) filled with “pistachio paste” which wasn’t like paste but more like a softer cookie that was lightly pistachio flavored
Ma'amoul Mad ($15.60): little squares of a pastry made with semolina flour, layered with pistachio paste & topped with chopped pistachios. It was interesting – somewhat like a soft spiced cookie. The pistachio flavor wasn’t that strong.
Za’atar croissant ($3.64): huge and soft with a lot of za’atar spices inside, not really a proper croissant
If you pay cash, you get a discount. Sweet Leban is in a strip mall with easy parking. Service was friendly. I’d like to try more. The food and baked goods seem fresh and well made.
