Knife Knife Update

Firstly, a disclaimer: I have not had any more Knife Knife dreams this week. I do, however, anticipate a meeting in my dreams tonight, so I’d like to share my latest hypothesis beforehand.

Hypothesis: Knife Knife is a group of ghosts that are able to interact with the world as any poltergeist can; through picking up objects. One difference between Knife Knife and regular ghosts is that the knives they hold become incorporeal. Upon examination, the knives didn’t seem to have any inherent supernatural properties, so I think it’s safe to assume that any objects they held would also become incorporeal as a by-product of their nature. 

All of this to say that Knife Knife is a form of super-ghost. This means they are an entity with extra-ghostly powers, such as the ability to make things that they touch incorporeal, and the ability to communicate through dreams (unless this is a regular ghost power that I’m not aware of. I’ve never been contacted by a regular ghost in my dreams.) A super-ghost is created when multiple ghosts form a consensual bond with each other, making their form stronger, but also making cooperation between the separate souls a must. The specifics of who, when, and why Knife Knife became a super-ghost aren’t important to this theory. There are plenty of deaths in the world, meaning there are plenty of ghosts capable of forming this super-entity. Why more ghosts don’t form a super-ghost is a question I don’t know how to answer, much like I don’t know how to answer the question of why cryptids often go unsighted, or why there aren’t ghost sightings constantly.

Super-ghosts don’t look like a single transparent being because there are too many ghosts for it to represent any single soul’s appearance. Maybe super-ghosts with a smaller number of united souls have a distinct appearance, but Knife Knife is made up of thousands of souls. I might even go as far as to speculate that such a dense conglomeration of ghosts creates something like a “ghost black hole”, sucking in ghosts that get too close to it, and distorting the reality around itself.

We’ll see what is proven and disproven, provided that Knife Knife appears in my dreams tonight -- and that what Knife Knife says is true and accurate! Until then, this is my working theory about what they are.
