Hobbs once got in a food fight with his younger brother. It started by accident, an innocent flick of the spoon and porridge ended up splattered on his face. Instead of reprehending him, he retaliated and scooped out some of his own breakfast tossing it back at his youngest sibling. They were lucky no one was home, otherwise they’d both be in trouble for wasting what food they had. However hearing his brothers laughter, which was sometimes a rarity, made it all worth it in the end.

she often appears cold to those who don’t know her ;    gaze almost like daggers as she turned to meet the voice ,    features hardened into suspicion .      she trusts nearly nobody in the city   &    doesn’t look to make many new friends .      at the mention of george the hard exterior melted away ,    replaced with the warmth of a smile ,          ❝      oh?      I suppose he’s too busy to find me himself?     ❞

Hobbs had seen the look on her face and immediately found himself cautiously stepping back from the young lady. It was hard to believe this was the same person George had been pleasantly describing to him only a few hours ago. Maybe she was just guarded, because as soon as he spoke his name she seemed to soften up. “Yes miss, he’s been called away for a case,” the young constable explained. “But he sends me ‘round to see if you’d wish to join him for lunch. It’s of the utmost importance.” Thinking back over what he'd been told to say, he held up a hand and added, "He said it has to do with... erm... trash smugglers, miss?" She'll know what it means, George had said when Hobbs had given him a blank stare in response.
