“Yours.” | Reader x Knight!Din | Knight!Din anthology
Summary: Reader has been hiding something life-changing. Din is the first to notice.
A/N: As always, minors DNI. 18+. This is a one shot regarding my Knight!Din universe. Reader is the queen! It is a forbidden relationship! All the good stuff!
It first began as a kiss.
Something stolen in the midnight hours. Meet me tonight you’d written him in a note, small and compact in your hand as it was slipped under the backband of his horse’s harness.
That abandoned hallway on the east side of the castle was a lighthouse; a safe-haven for lovers of the highest caliber to exile themselves to. You knew it well, but only with Din. The two of you had etched yourself in its stone walls, growing with ivy from years without societal use.
Din had you pressed gently against the curve of the wall, lips tracing the shape of your collarbones. The stairs underneath you led to an attic with a makeshift bed good enough to endure for a few hours before your spine ached. But while you were used to luxury - of downy feathers and silk throws - the sleep you managed to steal in this attic was the greatest you’ve ever had.
It was also now a place of sacred ritual.
You’re waiting for Din to whisk you up the stairs, to slowly uncover every inch of frivolous pageantry this nightgown has to offer. His hands slide from your cheeks to your waist, inhaling the delicate part of your neck that meets your shoulder.
“You smell different,” he whispers.
His tone is that of sheer arousal, desire dripping from his very lips. He pulls back far enough to cast a glance at your lips, plump from the onslaught.
You raise a brow, chest heaving with breathlessness. “Oh?”
He can’t possibly…
In the flickering candlelight, Din’s expression turns to puzzlement. His hand, that had been wrapped gently around the curve of your waist, falls to the plush part of your belly. You’ve always carried a bit of extra weight so it wasn’t discernable to anyone else. The heavy fabric and stay of your gown hid all bumps and ridges on your natural-borne body. Who would be able to notice? Phillip? He hadn’t seen you naked since last month. Besides, he wouldn’t notice; it wasn’t outstanding.
So far, this secret belonged to you only.
Tonight was the full moon - you still had not bled. But Din knew your body like he knew his own creed.
He presses very gently against your stomach and you inhale sharply. It doesn’t hurt, but it does feel odd; you were a fortress now.
Penetrable. Alive. Trembling.
The resistance against his touch is all the proof he needs.
Din raises his eyes to yours and, for the first time, they are wetting. “You’re with child.”
You nod fervently, touching his hand upon your belly with a gentleness meant to calm his nerves. The two of you take a few moments to register the proclamation. It’s been said aloud for the very first time.
How beautiful it is, to announce life in halls such as these.
Din struggles to keep his composure. “Is it…”
Last month, above your heads, Din had taken you with such urgency, such fire, that it took. Phillip wasn’t capable of having children - you’ve tried. But Din, as it turned out, was capable of quenching a burn within you - a void you were terrified would remain and make its home.
“Yours.” You grip his hand, bringing the other to rest at his cheek. He leans into your touch, allowing his eyes to spill over with tears. “They’re yours.”
You can’t help but cry as well, the insurmountable joy in your cup runneth over. In your arms, the true father of your child lets out a gleeful laugh. Never have you seen him smile so brightly - not in the five years you’ve known him.
Din kneels, balancing unsteadily at first, his hands still cradling your belly like it is the heart of the world. He leans his forehead against you before pressing a delicate kiss against the slight swell of it.
He wraps his arms around you, ear pressing against the softness. “You are the most important being there ever was,” he says. “And you will do amazing things.”
For now, it is just the three of you. And that is enough.

It happened in a second: The stall vendor exchanged the coins in your hand for a clay pot of powder and the sellsword’s hand closed around your forearm. You didn’t know the order in which the events occurred even as they did- before you could process either of them you were being pulled away from the scene.
You tried to pry your arm free from the man’s grip but he already had you moving, tugging you in between the market stalls towards a slim alleyway between two buildings. Behind you, the general roar of the market grew muted.
If you’d thought anyone was going to jump to your aid in a bustling city where the occurrance of a man dragging a woman somewhere was as insignificant as a pidgeon shit then you were stupid. But you weren’t- you’d learnt well enough that the only person who would always come to your rescue was you.
“Let me go!” you dug your heels into the ground and summoned the momentum to finally tear your arm from his hold. But the sellsword was stronger than you.
“Stop struggling.” He said as he took the pot from the cradle of your hand and hefted you over his shoulder in one fluid motion- just like he had done to the bounty- continuing to weave though buildings and skinny streets.
“How dare- you beast, put me down!” You wished you had brought a knife with you as you would have had the perfect vantage point to wedge it in the gap between his pauldron and the beskar mail.
But before you could think of another way to escape his hold, you were being let out of it.
The sell sword let you down on the stone alley way and as soon as you found your footing, you struck him across the face.
“Gods, woma-” He barely reeled from the force of your slap but he was blinking hard at you, eyes beginning to deepen in the dim light. He could hold you in place with his gaze alone, “How long have you been wanting to do that?”
A squeak threatened to leave you. But despite the flustered effect he dared on you, you glared at him. “From the first moment I laid eyes on you.” Then you snatched back your pot from the crook of his arm.
The corner of his lip curled slightly and you were reminded of the other things you had wanted to do since you saw him. But the way he looked at you, eyes raking over you again, made you feel like he knew every single illicit dream you had had. Like an animal, his nostrils flared and his eyes darkened as if he could sense the rising heat in you, his hands on you. He glanced away and the look was gone. “What are you doing here?” He asked you.
“Pardon me- is this your city?” you asked back, perplexed-- as if he was not the one to literally lift you from your perfectly mundane errand!
“It’s beyond what you’re capable of handling.”
“Excuse me?”
His smugness was replaced with astonishment, one long (strong) arm shooting out to the side in frustration, “If I hadn’t pulled you aside when I did you would have been ambushed by the thieves I saw watching you- or anyone for that matter! You do not know this city- how can you--”
“What does it matter to you what happens to me?” You interrupted.
He clicked his tongue. “You think I have no morality, is that it, woman? You think I’d like to watch you get robbed or assaulted?”
“You have no qualms about grabbing me like that, though! Just when I thought you couldn’t care less for a woman’s dignity.”
The sellsword hummed. His composure returned to normal- aloof. “Its not my job to be gentle. And so- I’ll ask you once more: What are you doing here?”
You thought about striking him again, about just leaving, but with the way that both of you refused to acquiesce you’d likely stay in place all night. “Since it matters so much to you- Kuiil is still fevered,” you motioned to the clay pot in your arm, “I needed things to make a remedy for him.”
He looked you over again. “And you have everything?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” The sellsword nodded, “Come with me.” He stepped beside you and took your arm.
This man seemed insistent on vexing you. But he already had you on the move again, tugging you (as opposed to the way he dragged you before) alongside him. “Have you lost your mind?!”
He scoffed at you, leading you out of the alleyway and back into the bustle of the city streets. “You will. This city isn’t safe.”
Despite his demeanor, you found yourself somewhat more willing to go along with him- or maybe you just preferred not to waste more time confronting him. And you had to admit there was something comforting (albeit frustrating) about being escorted by such an intimidating man.
You observed in awe how people avoided him by instant, parting crowds with ease. “Certainly not with you in it.” you muttered under your breath, though loud enough for him to hear.
...
“Sit down here and don’t speak to anyone.” Din said, encouraging you to sit at the end of the bar. “I won’t be long.” As he stood up fully he wasn’t ignorant to the urges you inspired in him- urges he’d been fighting since he saw you in the market.
Actually, he hadn’t stopped thinking about you- not since the night he walked into your inn looking for his bounty. He’d much rather have left with you thrown over his shoulder.
You rolled your eyes at him as he turned, and it gave him a certain amount of comfort that you could hold your own… though among the patrons of Karga’s Keg tavern, Din couldn’t be so sure.
Greef Karga was hardly royalty but no one would know it looking at him. He adorned himself in chains and brooches and often a fine half-cape that was embroidered and heavy; all of which made him stand out among those which filled his bar. Din found him quickly this way, tapping him on the shoulder so as to get his attention away from the tourney knights across from him who had him engaged in a hearty laugh.
Greef beamed up at him when he turned. “Ah! If it isn’t The Guild’s greatest man!” After Din nodded to him in greeting, Greef gestured beside himself, “Sit, friend. You must hear of what happened in the lists this morning.”
Din didn’t sit. “My apologies, but I’ve only come to discuss the next bounties, Karga.”
Greef hummed, “So be it.” and he excused himself from the passionate retelling of the knight’s tale.
Hidden from the view of the rest of the patrons, in a small meeting room in the back of the tavern, Greef Karga handed the sellsword a small purse of gold.
“You’ve done well, friend.” He said, watching as Din counted out the pieces. 9 gold crowns and 7 silver crows. “Although, I must pose my previous offer to you again.”
“I don’t want it.”
“These bounties pay a lot more gold though-”
Din tied the pouch shut again. “I earn enough gold.”
Greef sighed at the man. “Enough to survive maybe. But wouldn’t you like to buy some land, raise a family- warriors, that’s what Mandos say right?”
“Right.” It was true- the amount he had just earnt would provide for him little more than a week, and that was without a proper roof or hot food. “But surviving is enough for me.”
“You’re one in a million.” Greef smiled.
Din didn’t smile back. “No amount of gold would make me take a knee for the crown.” The joyous laughter of the tourney knights permeated through the door.
Oh, to be a Knight. Such a life sought glory and honor, taking sweet maids and the favor of high lords– only to then be at the mercy of the same lord, or the crown; to be used as a rich man’s pawn when dirty deeds needed doing. A wasted life, Din thought. He would never allow his honor to rest upon another man’s hunger for power.
Greef Karga worked for the crown, yet he was far from being a hired sword. He worked on the King’s council as an informant. Of what he informed, (outside delegating bounties) Din did not care to know; his duty to the man was merely a duty to his own purse.
“I understand.” Karga said. He took out a rolled parchment then, sliding it carefully over to Din, “But there are always other prospects for you, my friend.”
Din recognised the seal as that of the late King. Tentatively, he pried open the wax seal and spread the scroll out. One word jumped out at him. “Arvala?”
Greef inclined his head, “A good swordsman is hard to come by as you know- and one of excellent skill even more so.” He stood then and Din slipped the paper into his pocket. “Think about it, Mando. I’ll see to sending you another bounty before the week’s out.” he stretched out his hand.
Din shook it, “Thank you.”
…
He knew he shouldn’t have taken you with him to Karga’s Keg- but now, as he walked back into the main room of the tavern, he really wished he hadn’t.
Standing over you- leering- was a man. One he’d seen lurking in the corners of Karga’s like a spider- Toro. Toro was always hounding other Guild members for their bounties, always looking for a way to bribe himself the kind of notoriety that came with years of experience and scars.
And Toro was saying something to you, pointedly too with the way his entire frame stretched over the spot you sat in, his hand pressed against the wood of the table. Din would not let this spider pounce.
Din was crossing the room in an instant with his hand locked to the hilt of his sword. But before he got halfway to you, you were standing. And with a move you only carried through on impulse, you slapped Toro across his face.
You spotted Din then and he met you halfway. Without even thinking about what he was doing, Din took you by the hand and pulled you around his body.
“Who let you back in, Calican?” The words came out of him in a steamy breath, his blood boiling with unspent adrenaline. Din hated few people. After all, most criminals did what they did out of desperation more than vile will… most. Toro wasn’t a criminal (or rather- not one that was bounty worthy) but he was arrogant and entitled to the extent where he wouldn’t take “no” for an answer.
But the reddening mark on the side of his face took his confidence down a peg or two. A satisfied smile threatened to disturb Din’s stony glare. “Where’d you find this one, Mando?” the younger man smirked, eyes lingering on your form. “She’s a feisty one, huh.”
Din wanted to run him through. “Karga’s is Guild Members only.” He spoke through gritted teeth but the disdain sept through the gaps- almost like a primal hiss. “You shouldn’t be in here.”
The chatter in the tavern had died, casual conversation forgotten when there was a fight stirring.
Toro huffed a laugh, “You’re the only one who doesn’t want me here… now your little squeeze, here-”
This time you struck him right in the middle of his face, the impact punctuated by a harsh cracking sound. Toro swiped a hand under his nose, smearing a track of blood across his face.
Oh~ Good girl, Din thought.
There was a chorus of hollers and whoops from around you both, the sound of a door slamming shut declaring the end of the imminent brawl. “What is the meaning of this!?” Karga’s voice projected across the room.
Din hauled Toro into the center of the room by his upper arm. “Calican is far too young to be in here and his constant harassments on the women in here have gone largely unpunished.”
Karga nodded solemnly, “I’ll handle him, mando.” he said, coming over to stand opposite you. “My apologies, dear- this behavior is most certainly not-”
Din cut Karga’s speech short, taking you by the arm again- though noticeably gentler now. “We’ll be on our way now, Greef.” And then he led you back through the tavern door, picking up your basket from the table on the way.
…
“Still think I can’t handle myself?”
The sellsword shook his head at you. “Calican is a kid- nothing compared to what's really out there.” He looked down at you again and when he realized he still had a hold of you, he let you go. “What if you ran into a man like me?”
It was true, Toro was significantly smaller than the sellsword and he had nowhere near as much armor on. You met his eyes, “I have run into a man like you- or had you forgotten that night already?”
He came closer then, dangerously so. The honey tones you had seen in his eyes were churning now, deepening further and further. “Then why haven’t you broken my nose yet?” He said lowly.
You gulped. “Y-you’re tempting me.”
You thought he’d pull away then like he had before but his hand came up to your face. One gloved finger traced the edge of your mouth and your lips parted with a shaky breath. The corner of his own lips tugged up ever so slightly, amused by the blush that you were certain was taking over you. “You’re stubborn…” The sellsword removed his finger from you. “We’re taking my horse.”
You reeled over his words, spluttering, “You still insist on seeing me back to the inn?”
You’re decidedly indignant but you follow him anyway to the stables at the end of the lane. His pace is considerate, striding slowly so you can keep up. “Yes.”
The sellsword’s horse was beautiful- a large black great horse with a striking silver mane and tail. He attached a leading rope from his horse to Kuiil’s mule, Blurg while you stroked the forelock of his great horse.
“Her name is Crest.” he said softly.
You smiled, “Crest.”
He then held out his hand to help you mount his horse which you took. However he made no move to stand aside for you to access the reins- instead he pulled you closer, moved your hand to his shoulder and wrapped both of his hands around your waist. With ease, the sellsword lifted you up into the air and onto Crest’s saddle, your basket tucked close to your chest.
Din followed you wordlessly, mounting his horse behind you in the saddle. He reached around you on both sides carefully, taking the reins and prompting Crest to start moving.
He tried to resolve himself to focus on the journey ahead and to not let his attention fall to the curves of your form in front of him. But his faith in his own ability to do so fell quickly when you leant back into his chest.
This would be a long ride.

The walk back to your apartments was more akin to floating, a happy bubble carrying you back in the very grips of ardent love, but the spell was broken when you saw the worry on Mila’s face.
“Your highness, I have been worried sick!” She quickly pulled you in and shut the heavy wooden door. “You’ve been gone for ages, what happened?” She all but spit out the words while helping you with your cloak, succumbing to a small smile of her own to the dreamy look on your face.
“Oh Mila -” You sighed dramatically, hating yourself for being such a cliche but it couldn’t be helped. “I am no longer a maiden, I have been spoiled.” You laughed at the absurdity of it all - how could what you shared with him spoil you? “Do you think me wicked?”
“No your highness, not for a moment. I am delighted for you - truly. Should I draw you a hot bath?” She seemed relieved, truth be told.
“Yes sweetling - that would be lovely.” You finished undressing as she went about sending down for hot water. Your undergarments were damp with your slick and Din’s seed and seeing them mingled there made your heart flutter.
I always thought there would be blood.
“I can have those washed, your highness.” She said it softly as you stared at the fabric.
“Yes, of course.” You handed it over to her before getting into the tub. “Now that my nerves have settled a bit, I am a bit sore.” the muscles in your thighs hurt much like they did after a long day on a horse. Thoughts of riding Din flooded your mind and it was almost enough to make you faint.
Would he like that I wonder?
“Be a dear and fetch me some of the herbal salts for the water?” She ran off before you could finish the sentence and you took the time alone to check your body - the skin of your breasts was sensitive from his mouth and you did your best to treat them tenderly. You reached between your legs to clean yourself off and hissed involuntarily. The lips of your sex were puffy and swollen and you used the same soft touch there too.
“This should help.” She dumped the little cup of salts and dried flowers into the water and swirled it around. “Lean back and I will wash your hair.” Her hands were delicate but strong and she listened with a smile while you recounted the details of your evening.
---
He could smell her on his skin and it made him ache. A physical pain at the loss of her warmth; the spot on his bed now seemed empty and cold without her there to fill it. He sighed loudly as he lay there, imagining how it would feel to wake up with her in his arms.
He had thought that once he’d loved her with his body, the urge would subside slightly. He thought the compulsion to bury himself in her would be fulfilled and he would be able to calm down - think clearly. He could not have been more wrong.
It had only made him worse. Now he wished to be attached to her always, he wished to see her face scrunched up with pleasure, wanted her to moan for him. He wanted to kiss her, to hold her - taste her skin. He imagined marrying her, fantasized about her being his wife for all to see. He longed to see her heavy with his child.
One step at a time.
He blew out the candle, and fell asleep with her taste in his mouth.

“Mother, father - I believe Poe and I have some happy news to share.” You smiled at Poe and his eyebrows raised in shocked delight that you were ready to tell them.
“Yes I believe we do Princess.” He reached over and held your hand in his. “Your highness, I have asked for your daughter's hand in marriage, and she has graciously accepted.” He bowed slightly and the room was filled with cries of joy from all but two.
Your mother let out an excited shriek before forgetting all decorum and almost knocking you over.
“We must celebrate! A toast to the bride and groom - I will make an announcement and we will begin the plans for a wedding that befits the future Queen and her King!” Your father was up and clapping Poe on the back firmly.
The smile on your face was genuine but not for the reason your mother imagined. You chanced a glance over at the statue that was Din and were gifted with the tiniest of nods. He understood.
I smile for you my love, only for you.
“We must summon the dressmaker at once! Invitations must be sent out and we must begin planning your big day. Gods above there is so much to do! Come, let us begin.” Poe smiled after you as you were pulled away.
Let the insanity commence.
—-
The announcement spread throughout the land with dizzying speed and the messages of congratulations and well wishes poured in.
Poe was busier and busier and so were you. Your father was mentoring him, and your mother was borderline smothering you.
“The dressmaker will be here soon sweetling and we can go over the design. I have also summoned the goldsmith to fashion you a ring, as well as a crown for Poe. Do you have any special requests for the feast?” Your mothers excitement was palpable and despite how hard she’d pushed you to choose Poe - it touched your heart to see her this happy.
“No mother I have not, but I thought we could summon Poe’s kitchen staff to attend - that could prepare some of his favourite foods and we could have a melding of sorts.” Finn and Poe might enjoy some of their home comforts, it would be a nice surprise for him.
“That is a lovely idea, I will send a raven.” She had a list in hand and you saw her scrawl the words hurriedly. “Now. We must discuss the issue of your maidenhead.” Your stomach tumbled about as she spoke. “It is common for high-born ladies to lose their maidenheads while riding horses so you may not bleed. Hopefully there is a drop or two that you could present, it is good luck.”
My maidenhead belongs to Din, and he has claimed it mother, what would you think of that I wonder.
“Present it?” You asked with all of the innocence you could muster.
“Yes sweetling, after the feast when it is time to put you to bed - a paige will be sent up to collect the sheet from your marriage bed. Surely you’ve been told of this?” She gave you a quizzical look.
“I must have put it out of my mind.” You smiled at her but she was barely looking at you, so engrossed was she at her notes and plans.
“Yes well, I pray there is a drop for luck.” She patted your hand absentmindedly.
I doubt that very highly.
“Yes mother, a drop.”
———
Mila was giving you sidelong glances as the dressmaker listened to your mother speak. She was envisioning a gown of deep, royal purple. A confection big enough to envelop you from head to foot. A gaudy, heavy thing and you were only too happy to deny her.
If you were going to go through with this wedding, the dress was going to be something that would match your true love. You wanted it to be silver.
“Your highness, we could combine the colours - I could make it cascade, fade from the silver to a deep plum near the bottom. The effect would be wondrous.” She tried to explain it and while it sounded lovely indeed - you held your ground.
“Maybe for another occasion - for my wedding however I was it to be silver. I want it to shine and glimmer. Like armor.” You smiled sweetly.
“Armor? My darling this isn’t a battle you’re going into - you’re going to look like a Mandalorian standing up there in the dress you’re describing.” Her tone was incredulous and it was hard not to laugh at how close she had come to hitting the mark.
“I think it would look lovely, your highness.” Mila smiled shyly and your mother sighed loudly, knowing you were determined.
“Thank you Mila - now. This is what I am envisioning.” You explained and the dressmaker took notes. It was going to be perfect and you couldn’t wait for Din to see it.
----
He couldn’t say he was completely happy, not while he knew they could ever truly be together, he could however live with knowledge that her heart was his. Just as his beat only for her.
He smiled to himself, thinking about her as he made his way over to the smith. Memories of her in his bed replaying over and over in his mind, his heart so full of love it floated; a wild, tethered thing always leading him back to her.
“Good day to you Sir.” The smith inclined his head to him in respect.
“Good day, I have come with a job for you. I have a precious piece of metal here and I need you to fashion me a ring.” He handed over the rare metal to the smith.
The smith took it, and before long Din was making his way back to the castle - excitement colouring his face for no one to see.
—
“How are the plans going Princess? Is there anything I can help with?” Poe was leading you around the garden, the day was crisp and fresh; sunshine beating down on you both.
“Believe me Poe, I am doing you a kindness by keeping you away from planning this endeavour. It is exhausting.” You rest your head on his shoulder.
It was refreshing, this closeness between the two of you. It was freeing to be able to treat him with tenderness, with friendly love without fearing he would misunderstand. It helped to strengthen the opinions of others while deflecting any controversy and suspicion.
“I appreciate you protecting me but I would genuinely like to help. How are things with your knight? Your mood tells me things have improved.” He spoke with a secret smile, a recognition and you couldn’t help but laugh with happiness.
“Oh yes, I have explained everything and we have, well- I will leave it to you to interpret.” You looked away while your ears burned.
“Gods above it’s about time! So he hates me no longer?” He was excited, genuinely happy for you and your love for him grew.
“Yes, all is well.” You frowned then, remembering your mothers words. “There is a problem however - everyone is expecting me to be a maiden on our wedding night and my mother has informed me that they will want to see-“ You cleared your throat slightly and he caught on quickly.
“They will want to see proof that I have deflowered you.” His face clouded over with worry. “Barbaric. You’d think there would be some privacy between wife and husband.”
“Between a man and a woman there is, between the future King and Queen there is no such thing I fear.” You patted his arm, grateful for his outrage.
“Leave it to me Princess. We will make it work.” He plucked at a flower as you walked through a row of roses and he handed it to you. Looking for all the world as a young, happy couple. Ready to start your lives together.
—-
You could feel his eyes on you, tracking your every movement even though you couldn’t see them.
You were watching your mother speaking to advisors about all of the prominent guests that were going to be in attendance, saw her arranging where they would be seated once the feast began in the great hall.
Your father was speaking to Poe about organizing a hunting party for the day before, heavily implying that it would be auspicious to serve something he himself had caught at his wedding.
It should have shocked you how little you were actually needed for this part, should have angered you how little of your input was requested.
If I was marrying you my love, I wouldn’t need all this. Just our vows, and a holy man to guide us.
This was all a sham, a show to put on so that the kingdom - your parents - would be appeased. The land would be ruled by two people who love each other after a fashion; people who respect one another and the responsibilities they’ve been tasked with.
A heavy yawn slipped out.
“Are you well Princess?” Poe took your hand in his and brought it to his mouth. “Perhaps you would do well with some fresh air? Din, would you do me the kindness of escorting her highness out into the gardens? She could do with a change of scenery. Perhaps even a ride.” He spoke so clearly and with such purpose that no one questioned him.
“You do look rather tired sweetling, Poe is kind to look after you thusly.” Your mother patted your hand as Din made his way over, inclining his head with a bow at your betrothed.
“You are too kind to me Poe, a ride is just what I need.” You smiled at him, placing a chaste kiss onto his cheek before letting Din escort you out.
-
He didn’t speak, not while you were within earshot of anyone in the palace. Mila had come with you for propriety’s sake but she hung back. She was a necessary shadow, following the two of you around.
He was silent as you made your way to the stables, wordless as he saddled your horse, as he held out his hand to you; a sweet in his palm. Silent still as he led you out of the Palace walls, towards the road leading to the forest.
“Your highness, I can stay behind - I will find somewhere to make myself useful while you - enjoy your time.” Her eyes flashed towards Din and before you could answer she had taken off, leaving the two of you alone just outside the grounds.
He said nothing, instead he helped you onto your horse, his big hand squeezing your thigh before jumping up onto his own mount. You followed his lead, in direction as well as behaviour as you made your way further and further into the woods. The light was lovely, it was still early and the sun crowned all of the trees in a gorgeous golden glow. It reflected off his armor, lighting up clover and wildflowers for a split second as the horses trotted in tandem.
You found yourself taking in the scenery, the trees were changing, summer greens giving way to autumn ochre; yellows and reds. Birds flew overhead, deer hid in the trees.
“You look lovely today Princess.” His voice startled you out of your reverie - pulling you back to the ground.
“Thank you Sir.” You smiled over your shoulder at the space you imagined his eyes to be. “Where are you leading me?”
“Somewhere we can be alone for a time.” He trotted up beside you, grabbing the reins from your hands and leading your horse off the path. Your heart was pounding in your chest, excitement coursing through your veins at what he could be thinking about.
He stopped once you hit a small clearing. He tied the horses up next to a giant oak tree and they contented themselves by eating the grass within reach.
He pulled his helmet off and hit you with a blinding smile before claiming your mouth in a hungry kiss. It was full of longing and it made you ache for him.
“I have missed you.” His hands cupped your jaw lightly as he breathed the words onto your face, his forehead pressed to yours before pulling away to lay his cape out onto the ground. A makeshift blanket.
“I missed you too Din.” You ruffled his hair when he sat, opening his arms to you and you sat within the cage of his legs, your back pressed up against the solid wall of his chest. “I wish we could do this every day.” You leaned onto this shoulder, the beskar cool against the back of your neck.
“Me too.” He pulled at the tie of your cloak, exposing your shoulders and the tops of your breasts to his gaze. At some point he’d taken his gloves off - you saw his hands wrap around your middle to hold you tight to him. “Is the wedding planning as tedious as it seems?” His voice was playful and you were happy to hear his acceptance.
“Oh Din you cannot know what a bore it is. So many details, so many insignificant things my mother focuses on. She wanted to dress me in an awful purple monstrosity - would have made me look like a pastry.” He laughed at the disgust in your tone. “The feast will be terrifyingly long and I will be all too happy once it’s over.” You turned then and kissed his cheek.
“Poe seems happy to help, that must count for something.” His hand lifted yours to place a kiss at your knuckles, you saw him comparing the size difference between the two of you.
“Poe is a dear, he helps as much as he can. I know he is eager for all of this to be over as well. He and Finn can have some time alone once we are wed.”
“What is the plan after the wedding?”
“I had thought about it. I could arrange a trip to Poe's home, we could stay there for a time without the watchful eye of my mother and father.” You turned slightly to look him in the eye and he frowned slightly.
“If you leave, I would have to stay and look over your father.”
“Not if Poe insists you accompany me, we are the future, surely my father will see that we take precedence.” You pressed your palm to the stubble on his cheek.
“I pray he does, it would be torture to be away from you for so long.” He pressed his lips to yours again, it seemed as though he couldn’t get close enough. He was taking advantage of your privacy and you were all too content to let him. “I meant to ask, how did you feel after our night together? I was worried I’d hurt you.”
“I was sore, I will not lie, my thighs, and what’s between them. Nothing a warm bath didn’t help.” You felt the heat creeping up your chest. “It was wanton, to feel your seed leak out of me after.” You hid your face into his neck at the admission but he groaned and pulled your face up to look him in the eye.
“I would have cleaned you off had you been able to stay, with my tongue.” He swallowed the gasp you let out at his confession and the mood shifted from a quiet comfort to ardent passion.
He pulled you onto his lap roughly, his hands pulling your skirts up to grab at your thighs. He all but ripped at your undergarments in his haste to get at your skin. His desperation burned as brightly in your belly as if it were your own, seeing him so eager to touch you made you ache, made your cunt clench for him.
There was a mutual groan when he felt your wetness on the pads of his fingers.
“I dream about touching you like this my love, wish to have you spread out and bare for me always.” His tongue licked into your mouth as his finger drew perfect circles around the sensitive button of pleasure at the apex of your thighs. You whimpered into his mouth, your body rocking onto his hand slowly. “Does that feel good?” He bit at your lip and you nodded, half mad with lust for him.
“Yes, gods - yes.” He smiled onto your lips before reaching further down to spear you with his thick fingers. “Din, I want you - I want - oh.” The words died on your lips when his thumb circled your clit again.
“You have me my darling, my pretty little thing.” He moved his fingers a little harder and you rewarded him by flooding him with slick, your sex made obscene noises as he pumped into it. “Tell me what you really want.” You were almost there, the pleasure was building higher and higher - a wave threatening to drown you. “Is it my cock you want? Or my tongue?” It was too much and you fell apart, clenching around his fingers with a whimper. He pulled them away and you watched him lick them clean.
“I want you Din.” You reached between you to pull open his breeches. He watched you reach in to grasp the thick pillar of his sex. “I want your cock, I want to mount you - can I?” You kissed every inch of his face you could reach as your fingers teased at the sensitive tip of him.
“I am yours however you desire me.” He helped you then, moving all of the fabric out of the way to sit you onto his lap. You dripped onto him before sheathing him in your warm wet heat. “Gods above Princess, you feel better than anything in this world.” His fists were holding onto your thighs almost painfully tight and it took a minute for you to get accustomed to his size.
“I feel as though you’re splitting me in half, in the best way possible.” You wrapped your arms around his neck to pull him ever closer, the both of you groaning into each other's mouths as you rocked gingerly. It was a slow, mounting pleasure and the pressure at your pearl was perfect.
“Your sweet little cunt is squeezing me so tight.” His voice was clipped, the effort of holding still for you to go at your pace making the sweat bead at his brow. The devotion in his eyes made you feel powerful, beautiful and loved and you couldn’t help but bite at his neck. You wanted to mark him.
I want everyone to see that someone has claimed you.
He hissed at the way your teeth dug into the tawny skin of his neck but he didn’t stop you. It seemed to spur him on and you felt him buck up.
You like this.
He couldn’t stay passive and in a flash you were on your back. His cape and the soft grass cushioning you as he drove into you, hard enough to make you cry out.
“Mark me again my love.” He gave you his neck and you obliged. It all came to a head, his groans, the taste of his skin in your mouth, his cock filling you over and over and you clenched up in euphoria.
You watched as he pulled out and pumped his cock with a tight fist, his other hand holding your legs open so he could spill his seed onto your sex with a pained groan. It was deliciously obscene; divine.
After the blood had settled and the two of you caught your breath he ripped a piece of his undershirt and cleaned you off, making sure you were presentable before helping you up.
“I would love nothing more than to lay in the sun with you my love but we must be getting back.” He kissed your shoulders before fastening your cloak again and despite how much you wanted to protest, he was right.

He immersed himself in his training, the sounds of swordplay had always grounded him in the past, and it did so again. He honed his body, it was as much a weapon as his sword and he took pride in being as sharp as any blade he carried. It used to come from the urge to be the best Mandalore he could be - a deeply rooted respect for his office and making sure that the family he was charged with protecting never had to worry about their safety.
Now it was strictly for her. She was his only priority and her smile pushed him to work harder and harder.
Poe pulled him out of his focus and where once there was naked animosity - there was now a quiet respect, a recognition that they both yearned for something they shouldn’t.
“Good afternoon Sir, I beg for a moment of your time.” He was alone, Din nodded and followed him. He led them both towards the kennels, the sound of the dogs barking served as the perfect cover for any curious ears. Din took off his helmet, wanting to look Poe in the eye.
“I trust our lovely Princess has informed you of our understanding.” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement of fact and Din nodded. “I understand, more than anyone, what it is like to see the person you love, standing there in all their glory while being unable to shower them with affection.”
There was a reverential tone in his voice, physically he was present there with Din - his hands reaching down to pet the princesses dog - Ruby - but his mind was somewhere else. Din knew where it was.
“I have no intentions of loving anyone in my life, as much as I love Finn and I will do anything in my power to ensure that she - that my friend - is happy in her affections as well. I trust that you and I can come to respect each other - I trust that you will understand that anything we do in public is a farce. Play-acting meant to show the people of this land that the King and Queen are united.” The dogs were barking wildly, wanting attention but the words and the intention behind them were clear as day and welcome.
“I will not lie.” Din chose his words carefully. “I have only recently stopped completely loathing you. It was an awful feeling, eels in my belly at the sight of you but it was out of fear - I feared you would take her from me.” Poe didn’t react, he nodded; he understood. “I feared you’d love her in a way that would eclipse me and I couldn’t bear the thought of it.” It was hard for him to say these things to this man. It was difficult to put into words how he’d feared him.
“Even if I had those feelings towards her, it wouldn’t matter how intense or devoted I would be - you should know you are above all others. Surely you see it, in the way she looks at you.” Poe's smile was incredulous - as if he was stating something so completely obvious and for a moment Din felt foolish. “We will do our best to keep her happy, yes?” Poe held his hand out and It happened then, a truce, a partnership - a union centered around her.
“Always.” They shook hands.

The cramping was intense like it always was.
“Shall I bring you a hot compress your highness?” Mila watched your face scrunch up with pain and you nodded.
It was a silly thing, to be upset that the blood had come when in all actuality it was a blessing. His seed had not taken and you did not have to worry about the logistics of hiding an Ill-timed pregnancy.
If this is a blessing, why am I so sad?
Maybe it was the thought of carrying his baby, of making a life with the person you loved.
You are a romantic fool, the time for children will come soon enough.
“Thank you sweetling, this will help a great deal.” You sighed gratefully when she pressed the hot bundle to your abdomen, daydreaming about a little Din.
——
The night before the wedding was a ritual unto itself, and for once in your life - you didn’t abhor the care and the tediousness that went into it.
It began with sheers.
A small trim of the hair you’d been growing out since birth - nothing drastic but it was traditional to cut off a few inches. It signified the new life you were beginning as a married woman.
Mila separated a lock for you, tired with a red ribbon and set aside. Next there was a bath - water as hot as you could stand it filled with dried flowers, milk and herbs to soften your skin.
The women in your rooms were silent but happy as they worked. All of them had watched you grow and they rejoiced in seeing you happy in your union and it made you happy, even though they were mistaken in who your smiles were for.
They added perfumed oils to the water and to your hair, to ready you for your husband.
My body is your temple Din, and I ready myself for you.
You watched as they trimmed your nails, as they rubbed sweet smelling potions onto every inch of skin within reach. When all was said and done you felt like a brand new woman.
“Now princess, you must rest so you look your best on the morrow - we will be here at first light to help you dress.” The eldest of the ladies was hanging your robe as she made her way out.
When they were gone Mila finished tidying up - leaving you to study your wedding dress. It had come in a few days prior and it was almost ready.
“Once we attach the flower - it will be perfect your highness.”
“Yes it will. Help me if you would - I’d like it to be done before I get into bed.” The two of you got to work and within a quarter of an hour it was complete.
It wasn’t long after that you were laying in bed, dreaming of your knight.
---
You broke your fast the next day in your rooms, while endless hands teased and coaxed your hair into the desired shape. Your mother joined you as tradition dictated and she practically vibrated out of her chair with excitement.
“A gift for you my darling.” She slid over a small velvet-lined box. Inside were an exquisite pair of earrings, a starburst of diamonds surrounding a moonstone that would go perfectly with your dress. “They were a gift from my mother on the day of my wedding to your father. They belong with you now.” Despite her earlier hysteria - she had shifted to the warm, loving woman from your childhood and you hugged her fiercely.
“They are stunning, mother - I will wear them with pride.” You kissed her cheek before Mila helped you put them on.
“There is also a gift from your father-” She beckoned one of her maids to bring in the larger box and she set it before you. “-his would not do, you would have your own. Something more fitting to you.” She opened the box and you were almost blinded. A breathtaking crown of gold and silver intertwined together shined up at you. Smokey grey diamonds ranging in size were weaved through it elegantly.
“I am at a loss for words, he is too kind.” It seemed obscene to touch it and you closed the box. “I will wear it once I am properly dressed and she nodded in agreement.
“Come now child - it is time to get you ready for your husband.” She smiled.
