Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

This is a popular question! Several have asked this one already, but yes. I enjoy reading historical fiction/fantasy, with historical details, court intrigue, some combat, and some romance. The more historically accurate/realistic, the better! :) <3 

Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favorite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

Oh boy, yes: scoffing. Everyone scoffs in my stories, silence often ‘reigns,’ everyone seems to backstab everyone else in one way or another, and there has been a lot of staring lately. 

As for tropes, I love idea of the serious, intimidating character softening into the caring, sweet person we all know them to be under all the prickles and grumps.

What part of writing is the most fun?

This is a great question! I’d say... picking out costumes/music to develop the worldspace. That, to me, really makes the world and its surroundings so real. Historical fashion is so much fun to write and learn about, especially all the different traditions surrounding it. The meaning of colors, motifs, sumptuary laws: it all has a place in the worldspace, and adds richness to it. 

Also, I love lutes, so. Those are always on my Spotify playlists for my stories, whenever appropriate <3

8. What is/or was your OC’s relationship with their family like? 9. What was your OC’s life like before the events of the games?

Arielle: Arielle doesn’t remember her real parents very well as she was adopted by Clan Lavellan when her magic manifested at age 6. But she does remember them quietly indulging her interest in humans by giving her a few trinkets they found during raids on Shemlin camps, even if in most other memories they come off as quite harsh to others.

 When she came to Clan Lavellan, the Keeper Deshanna took her under her wing and became like her adopted mother, making her see her magic as a gift rather than a danger and encouraged her inquisitive mind and kind heart. They would debate about many things, particularly Ari perhaps straying too far alone on her explorations and her curiosity of humans sometimes trumping her caution. But Ari respects her wisdom and nearly always ends up agreeing with her views in her own time. The only habit Deshanna hasn’t had any leeway on is Ari’s preference for wandering off and doing her own thing instead of learning to be her successor. But it only takes one disappointed comment from her for Ari to spend the rest of the day working twice as hard as she needs to when she gets back. So it was quite a surprise when Deshanna agreed to her going alone to the conclave without much explanation, although she didn’t let her leave without assuring her ‘you still have much to learn Da’len’.

Arielle’s life is one of study. Whether that takes the form of pouring over an old book with Deshanna or trying to figure out what these broken pieces of pottery she found in some ruin are. Sating her never-ending curiosity for the world around keeps her anxiety that she’s going to be a terrible Keeper at bay.

Bart: Oh boy, Bart’s family, where to start? Well, Bart is the second youngest of three siblings: two older brothers and a little sister. So he’s the spare’s spare, and his family always treated him like it, especially his mother after his sister was born. With his father busy moulding his brothers into mini versions of himself, and his mum raising the perfect little lady, he released the only way to get their attention was to act up and cause trouble. But this only alienated him from his family even more as he became the black sheep, the family embarrassment. By the time he was a teenager, he learned to channel his insecurity through his dry wit and that life is a lot easier when you do your own thing. Unfortunately, it was round about this time his parents finally decided what to do with him: shaft him off to the Chantry.

Fast forward ten years, a failed career as a Chantry Brother, Templar, and socialite later, Bart is now a merc who visits his family once in a while to ask for money. They nearly always give it to him, cause they love him just enough to stop him from becoming a *gasp* poor! And he won’t leave until he gets some. His mother is getting pretty tired of the family disappointment though and has been trying to get him to go back to the Chantry. But now he has commitment issues cause of the apathetic and oppressive way he was raised and passed around from family member to family member and institution to institution, so that’s a no from him. He can’t even stick to the same mercenary band, so basically he’s one of the world’s classiest nomads. Though how classy he can be is directly proportionate to how much rich boy funds he currently has.

2.What are your OCs views on the Chantry? 12. What are your OC’s religious views?

2. Being a Dalish Elf, Meiriona hates the Chantry, what with its corruption and bloody slaughter of the elves many years ago. She also hates being called the “Herald of Andraste” and fought against it at every opportunity, claiming that the Inquisition is meant to protect all of Thedas, not just be the Chantry’s attack dogs. This is partly why she disbands the Inquisition after the events of Trespasser. Despite this, she doesn’t have anything against worshipping Andraste or the Maker, she just doesn’t want it shoved down her throat. 

12. Speaking of religion, Meiriona is a devout worshipper of the elven pantheon, especially Sylaise and Mythal. She always took great comfort in hearing the stories of her faith and prayed to her gods in times where she was feeling distressed or afraid. To sum it up, Meiriona’s faith is pretty much the foundation of her morals and personality.

Mune Mahariel: "Is my son safe?"

Ahearn Mahariel: "Will my sister succeed in her mission?"

Edith Hawke: "Will I ever learn how to turn into a dragon?"

Kida Lavellan: She wouldn't ask them anything. She's not one to voluntarily ask fortune tellers questions, though she would still pay attention if they freely told her something.

Mune Mahariel: Picks her scabs.

Ahearn Mahariel: His ears twitch when he's irritated and amused. That and his expressive eyes are the only giveaways of what he's actually feeling.

Edith Hawke: Being always full of energy, she's unable to keep still and is prone to bouncing her leg, actions she's not always aware of.

Kida Lavellan: She rotates her left wrist and flexes her fingers compulsively. It doesn't matter whether she's thinking, listening, or grasping for her magic, it's a subconscious action.

Mune Mahariel: She had never been in love before Zevran, and to this day he's still her only love.

Ahearn Mahariel: When with Clan Sabrae he had taken a slight fancy to Merrill, but it was far from love and nothing came of it. Morrigan was his first and only love.

Edith Hawke: She thought that she might be in love with a boy from Lothering, but was quickly proven wrong when he threatened her family. Fenris was her first and only love.

Kida Lavellan: Due to how she grew up and never being around anyone she could grow attracted to, Kida had never been in love before Solas, and she continues to love him even after Trespasser. If I count my AU, Cam'helin is her second love.

Which one sexts like a straight white boy?  Riku.  He is a dork who cannot flirt.  Or be subtle.  At all.  It just fails miserably.

Which one cried during a fucking Disney movie?  Ohhhh, they BOTH did.  Neither of them got the pictures to prove it, though.  (Riku cried at the sad moments, Xion at the happy endings.)

Who put a goddamned fork in the microwave? … I think they both did??  I don’t know, based on the hilarity in the manga, you’d think the Organization had a microwave, but do we actually know Xion’s ever used one?  I could see her doing it completely by accident (orrr being set up by her pyromaniac best friend, lol).  Riku, though–Riku did it while trying to warm up food while half-asleep in the middle of the night.

Who does the silly hands-over-the-eyes “guess who” thing?  That would be Riku, who also uses the “ha, ha, you’re shorter than me” card whenever he does it.  (See the above “dork” comment.)

Who puts their cold hands/feet on their partner?  Xion’s more likely to.  As a kid born and raised on a tropical island, Riku’s used to feeling chilly most everywhere he goes and usually just deals with it.  (The side benefit of trying to warm up your girlfriend, however, is that you can also warm yourself, soooo…)

Who had that embarrassing reality TV marathon?  Xion!  I’m guessing it started as curiosity about what ~normal people~ watch and escalated from there.  The problem is, I can’t decide which reality TV show show she’d marathon.

Who laughs more during sex? Haaa, Xion.  RIku tries. so. hard. to be cute, and it just makes her so happy~

WHO IS THE LITTLE SPOON?  More often than not, yeah, it’s Xion, partly because of the logistics of snuggling with a height difference, partly because Riku is protective of all his friends–which manifests as literally wrapping himself around them in some situations, lol.  Xion has been known to be the big spoon on rough days, though.

@knightdawn: I also wonder how Nathaniel knows Thomas drank like Oghren, considering he was gone for 8 years. Did Delilah mention it in letters she sent him? Were people still talking about it after he came home? Did the poor kid's death have something to do with it? But I digress. (And yes, I am ALSO normal about this family, don't mind me - )

I imagine he either heard it via his family (most likely Delilah or even his mother; somehow I don’t think Rendon Howe would bring it up 😂) or he saw it first hand on an occasion he was back in Ferelden. Or both.

Alternatively, he had a sixth sense for when Thomas and only Thomas was up to fuckery. Delilah’s fuckery remains a mystery to him.
