Knight loves lazy days for so many reasons. The biggest one is that he gets to stay at home and just relax. He gets to have one day where everything isn't hectic and he's not constantly screwed over by the company. He could stay in his bed forever if his alarm clock didn't go off. “Goddammit” he mumbles as he hits the power button on the clock. Knight slowly opens his eyes as he looks at the clock. “It's already 9am? Damn, might as well get up” he says to himself. He slowly sits up, hissing when his back cracks. “Easy Eli, just gotta move slowly” Knight whispers as he takes a deep breath.
He swings his legs over the side of the bed and carefully gets up, causing his back to crack again. “That house show last night beat my ass” he says as he walks to his bathroom. Knight has had back pain for many years now. It was bound to happen eventually on account of being in the wrestling circuit for nearly four decades. He fills himself a cup of water and opens the medicine cabinet. It was filled with his and his baby husbands’ various medications. “Thank god I labeled the shelf” Knight mumbles as he grabs his bottle of pain medication.
He opens up the bottle and swallows the pills along with the water. “Now I wait until they kick in” Knight says as he shuts the cabinet back. He freezes when he hears a groan in the bedroom. At first he was confused about who was in his bed but then he remembered who exactly it was. He quietly makes it back over to his bed where a huge lump was protruding from the covers. Knight carefully pulls the covers back a bit, revealing the sleeping Scotsman. Drew was the only one who didn't have to work house shows this weekend because he wasn't champion anymore…
He lost the belt to Cody on Friday which also meant he wasn't going to Wrestlemania. His husband has been depressed ever since and hasn't done anything except stay in bed for two days. Randy did invite Knight to celebrate Cody's win with them but he told his fiance that he'll celebrate with them another time. Today he's gonna try and make Drew feel better. He lightly kisses the top of Drew's head and quietly leaves the room. Knight then makes his way into the kitchen with an idea of what to make already in mind. “Pancakes make any day better” he says as he grabs the pancake mix from the cabinet and the necessary measurement cups.
Before he starts, he turns on his little portable radio and sets it to a station that plays music from the 60s. He smiles when the first song that plays is “The Dock Of The Bay” by Otis Redding. “A classic” Knight says as he grabs the electric griddle out of the bottom cabinet. “I gotta use this thing a bit more” he says as he quickly wipes the thin layer of dust off it and plugs it in. As that's warming up, he pours the already measured ingredients into a bowl and starts to whisk them together. When the batter is thoroughly mixed, he lets it sit for two minutes as he lightly greases the griddle.
Knight hums to the tune of the music as he waits. Once that's over, he pours the batter onto the griddle into six even circles. Three for him and three for his Thistle. He lets them sit for one and a half minutes before flipping them and waiting again. “Today is gonna be a good day” Knight says with a soft smile as he puts the pancakes on plates and turns the griddle off. He looks at the mess he's made and decides he'll deal with it later. “Where is that damn syrup?” he mumbles as he looks around the kitchen. He then spots it sitting in the corner near the toaster.
“Sunny must've been on one of his sugar binges again” Knight says as he grabs the bottle and realizes it's only halfway full now. He also grabs some silverware and two bottles of water and makes it back into the bedroom. Once he's back, he sees that Drew is still asleep. He sets the food on one of the dressers and walks over to his husband's side of the bed. “Thistle, get up” Knight whispers as he lightly shakes Drew's shoulder. “Leave me alone, dammit” the younger man mumbles as he rolls away from his husband.
The megastar wasn't having none of that as he grabs a nearby pillow and whacks Drew in the head with it. “Ow! The bloody hell?!?” The Scotsman says as he quickly sits up in bed. “Rise and shine, thistle!” Knight says as he puts the pillow back down. “Daddy? What are you doing here?” Drew asks as he rubs the sleep from his eyes. “I'll answer that question… after ya eat some breakfast with me” his husband answers with a smile. “Oh, I'm not really hungry” the Scotsman says a bit quietly.
“Drew, ya barely ate anything since Friday night and I'm not gonna sit around here while you suffer! Nah-Nah!” Knight tells him seriously as he sets a plate on Drew's lap. The younger man knew that when the megastar was serious about something, then he truly meant it. “I guess I am kinda hungry” Drew admits as he starts to eat. “That's what I thought, baby” the older man says as he grabs his own plate and joins him on the bed. The moment he sat down, Drew laid his head on Knight's shoulder. “Just like clockwork” Knight says as he starts eating as well.
“You gonna tell me why you're here and why you hit me with a bloody pillow?” Drew asks him curiously. “Oh, I'm here because I didn't have anything today! As for the pillow, I only did that cause I felt like ya shouldn't be sleeping all day” Knight answers with a shrug. “Oh…” his husband says as he goes back to food. They both continued to eat in silence until nothing was left. “Hey daddy?” Drew asks as he sets his plate to the side. “Yeah, thistle?” Knight asks as he sets his plate aside as well.
“How come you're here with me and not celebrating Cody's win with him and Randy? Ain't Cody like your stepson?” the Scotsman asks as he looks at him. “He is but I chose to spend my free time with you and told them I'd celebrate with them another time” Knight answers him truthfully. “Really? Why?” The younger man asks him curiously. “Cause you're my baby. Look, the title of daddy means ya gotta protect and love your boys. It's been my duty to love on all eight of ya the moment I decided to put rings on ya fingers.
So if you're having a bad day, then it's my duty to make sure ya don't have one anymore! YEAH!” Knight explains to his husband. Drew lets that sink in before letting out a laugh. “Sometimes I question you, old man” he says under his breath. He looks back over and sees Knight staring at him. “What?” the younger man asks him in a confused tone. “Ya got that same beautiful smile as ya always do. Reminds me of when ya smiled at me for the first time at that charity auction all them years ago. Ya were wearing that cute blue dress, I knew that day I wanted ya to be mine” Knight admits, causing Drew to blush.
“I can't believe you still remember that” he says to his husband. “Ya really think I wouldn't? Thistle, I may be old but I ain't that old” Knight says, causing Drew to laugh. “You know… I might still have that blue dress in our closet” the Scotsman says, Knight's eyes widened in surprise. “Really? Care to try it on… see if it still fits?” he asks, causing Drew to grin in response. “Oh I know it still fits! Be right back…” the younger man says as he gives his husband a quick kiss and walks to their closet as Knight waits in anticipation. Yeah… Knight really loves lazy days.
