Wedding present for my cousin. Have wanted to make this pattern for ages. Wasn’t sure if I had enough of either color for the whole thing, but really like the way it turned out with both.
here’s that blanket I was talking about a few months ago (ravelry link here)
yarn is from my family’s sheep, pattern is called Hemlock Ring Blanket and is based on an old doily
this is the most grandmotherly object I have ever created and I LOVE IT
I've long wanted to try my hand at knitting lace with cotton thread. Bought and read some of the classic books but put off the casting on. Kind of intimidating? But my husband asked for a table cover in natural fiber last week and this week is vacation. What better time to try. Here's a photo of chart A of Marianne Kinzel's Sun Ray. Already not perfect but great fun.

A “swatch” using Zephyr wool/silk laceweight for the shawl I want to make during the Ravelry 2019 Niebling KAL
Doily photoshoots are fun, gotta get the glamour shot!

hat! (ravelry link here) this pattern is apparently based on an old doily, and there’s another variation that turns it into a blanket that I’m planning to make with my family’s sheep’s wool the next time I need a new bulky-weight project
I think this would have been slightly better with higher-contrast lining (hat is a lavender gradient, lining is dark grey) but I have way too much grey fleece lying around for it to be reasonable to hunt down something different.
This pattern was a lot of fun, and super quick to knit. Blocking was really easy too - just had to soak the hat and then drape it on a dinner plate over top of a flowerpot, no pinning or anything.
