My March Madness - Knitting Ed.
Alas. Sweaters for the very young do not grow with the children for whom they are made. Heads grow, as do arms - until even the stretchiest stretch doesn't stretch enough (tbh it never did.)
Could I fix this? You bet. But how long will that little body fit into that tube? After 6, there are big changes in growth, so - let's face it - it's time to move on to a new jumper.
This time, I'll have all the measurements (Thx GrandMa!) so the fit should fit like a fit should fit.
Our Precious One has maintained color preferences for 3 years now & I feel safe choosing a slightly softer shade than the brights used in most kids clothes. Additionally, I want a soft yarn for comfort and something that can be layered with other clothing when necessary.
I'm making a garment for an active child. I want this worn. I don't want a precious garment that will only see the light two times a season - I want a sweater they will reach for daily out of love, and one that can be washed & dried easily. (You are welcome Mom & Dad. I ♡ you, too.)
Now - the pattern? Always a classic, always easy to follow, always spot-on true to measurements:
Carol A. Anderson from the classic company: Cottage Creations
This bottom-up, hooded sweater pattern has a knitted-in front pocket, an i-cord or ribbon tie, and
comes in every size. Every. Size.
I'll be posting updates as I go - my plan is to see this in regular use yet this Spring. Check back & help keep me motivated, my Knitblr family.
