am so crestfallen in this moment. Was working on my shawl earlier - and had gotten through the first skein of yarn as well as the first set of mini skeins. I'd even made it up to the big skein that I was excited about - the pastel/bright rainbowy one. It was far enough along that I was starting to see how it would be working up in the shawl and I was thinking, "ok maybe this could work! And then. And then the cable on my interchangeable needles broke - and a third of the stitches just fell off in front of me.
I'm not sure how to fix it... I know that I could probably do a guide line maybe if i could figure out how? I just am not sure how to, and I'm so frustrated and sad in this moment.. Because I don't think I have the know how to save this really. Which means frogging back, and I've made so much progress.
The optimist in me says, "well if you did rip it back the good news is you would fix the error section and you could do it right- maybe even go up a needle size to make it a bit lacier and less chonky with the knitpicks yarn." and this is true. But this is knit on the bias and I have a full 10" of it knt and that's not nothing for me - and this has 140 stitches so - 10" of 140 stitches - which when you're slow is a fair bit.
But the realist in me is just sad right now. I don't want to have to do it all again. I feel like this is what happens with my knitting - I hit a roadblock and when I have to redo - I just don't because doing it over makes me sad. And that makes it hard to look at and redo. Thus frustration.
I think I am going to put it away for tonight. Maybe tomorrow I will figure something out or I will just frog it and accept that it is what it is. The only thing I know right now is that I need some chocolate. I deserve some chocolate. :(
Aargh!!!
Can someone please explain how I can have 78 stitches, add 1 stitch and still have 78 stitches?
I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to figure out where the hell I've gone wrong but have just given up and ripped the whole shawl off the needles.
Finally finished the first section of my Hue Shift Afghan, looked at the pattern and discovered I’ve managed to do the whole thing back to front.
I don’t have the heart to undo it so I’m gonna give it to my neighbours 3 month old niece for Christmas and start again.
I’ve also broken into the Christmas wine early.
Mum has just felted my beautiful Manos Silk Blend cowl but not only putting it in the washing machine but also the tumble dryer...
Day 14: What's the worst yarn/fiber that you have worked with and why?
The worst yarn I have worked with is some red yarn my mom gave me when I first started knitting. It was really pretty, and I was excited to work with it until it kept breaking. I admit that I was just beginning, but I had pretty much worked out my tension and was treating the yarn nicely. As I moved down the skein I noticed that it was broken off in various places. Eventually I just gave up on the yarn; sometimes I am patient, this was not one of those times.
