In honour of fall, allow me to introduce you all to this monstrosity I made back when I first started knitting and didn't understand how dimensions work:
I had to frog days if work DAYS
This is 12cm if 1x1 ribbing in needle size 2,25 (1 in US) TWELVE CM ant at least 40 cm of stockinette 😤
It didn't work out, like I wanted, it was TERRIBLE.
Now I'll do something completely different
Not only did I lose yarn chicken on this project, I lost it so thoroughly that I want to frog the ENTIRE thing and possibly donate the yarn.
I love the pattern (Culpeper by Dee O'Keefe) and the yarn is super soft though not as slow changing a gradient as I'd hoped (Blue Brick Muskoka in Fig) but I mismatched yarn to pattern more than I realized. I tried to adjust but now I am just sick of the whole thing.
We saw this post and decided to try to make a Pikachonk of our own.
Oops.
[ID from alt text: Hand holding two very wonky and scary-looking Pikachu heads... maybe. Their faces look weird.]
I made a hat, cause I failed at knitting fingerless glove thing, only finished one cause it ended as a failure. It’s a hat now- so.. it’s all good I guess..?
Aargh!!!
Can someone please explain how I can have 78 stitches, add 1 stitch and still have 78 stitches?
I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to figure out where the hell I've gone wrong but have just given up and ripped the whole shawl off the needles.
So. I feel like a total idiot. I just saw a lovely video on pinterest of someone knitting on dpns. A few months ago I made a hat on dpns and it was my first ever time using them and I was super excited. I looked up how to cast on with them and how to connect them and I was like, awesome let's do this.
This is where the video comes in.
While knitting this lovely hat I used a total of 3 dpns the entire time. I wasnt sure why the package had so many in there, but I figured it was for larger projects or spares. Anyone who knits is probably going to cringe at this by my innocent little crocheting ass didnt know at the time. I spent this ENTIRE HAT switching the loops from one needle to another when I ran out of space. Like, when one needle was close to being empty and the other full because it already held loops, I stopped knitting, and just transferred the loops. This obviously took A LOT OF TIME. I also now understand why it was so hard to knit at times with the awkward position of the needles. And I didnt know this until JUST NOW.
In summary, I feel dumb.
Rib knitting fail
Oh bloody hell.
Did you know that, if you’re checking gauge in 1x1 rib, it’s possible to accidentally count every second stitch, and get the idea that you have 15 stitches per 10 cm when you in fact have 30 sts per 10cm?
Did you know that, when designing your own pattern by means of make-it-up-as-you-go-along, there is no helpful text to remind you that maybe 90 stitches is a bit short for an adult waist circumference?
This is my waistband, with my hand for scale:
Return, tragically malformed creation, to the unformed void from which thou wast summoned!
Look! It never happened!
