headcanon: ManePear struggles with personally dropping people he cares about after he and Flame fell out once he discovered Flame was in the Mafia. he told Flame off like any good older brother and kind of disowned him, basically saying he was no brother of his and left. possibly also calling him a lost cause.
he can confront people just fine, but disavowing them in person is what he struggles with. if it's someone he wasn't really close to he can do it fine as well; it's just people he cares about that he struggles with.
no idea if this coincides with canon (i dont care if it does anyway) btw i havent watched s1 in a month and i dont plan on rewatching it ever
i feel like part of why he'd struggle to cut ties with people he cares about is because he doesn't really wanna disavow them
part of him knows it's the right thing to do (like when flame joined the mafia) but another part of his doesn't wanna let go. even if he should, how could he pretend he doesn't have a brother when he loves him so much??
that'd be part of the reason why when he betrayed wemmbu he only wrote the "lost cause" sign and left. he couldn't say it to his face because deep down he knows it isn't true
