Morando’s skin itches. The thought had never crossed his mind when he transducted into a human form, but it is the middle of a school day and he cannot stop thinking about going back to the ship and turning back into his true form to make it stop. As a matter of fact, it’s the middle of class, and he’s lecturing on the stratigraphy of Urth’s crust when a particularly violent itch rushes up his back, and he slams his fist into the chalkboard. Needless to say, his students are startled.
He does not bother excusing himself, and simply storms down the hall to the library. It is easy enough to find Ari, and when he does he grabs her by the arm and pulls her behind one of the stacks. His eyes (all two of them) are wide as he stares down at her, mouth set in a firm line. “My back itches,” he grinds out in a loud whisper. “Is hooman skin always so itchy? How do I make it stop?”
