of all douma's faults and flaws I'm so thankful to him for reminding inosuke of kotoha. it saddens me to even imagine inosuke never remembering her or learning what a great person and a mother she was.

memories are central in the story. people are saved by the memories of their loved ones and the connections they fostered with them in their limited time. inosuke forgetting his mom would have been her actual death and someone like kotoha must be remembered.

she was such a loving person who despite all the abuse she endured remaind a ray of light. she never allowed bitterness to settle in and color her brief time with inosuke. she loved him wholly and completely as a gift and fought with all her might not once but twice to save his life.

if not for inosuke and douma's encounter he might have gone his entire life unaware of how loved he truly is. he was not unwanted or unlovable like he believed, quite the opposite, kotoha's absence is not an abandonment but a proof of love. she chose him over herself and loved him enough to let him go. a fact that changes inosuke perspective on the world and himself. by the time inosuke fought douma he had gradually and timidly changed from a complete loner to someone who cared for others, but that important discovery was the last missing piece of the puzzle that allowed inosuke to become complete and no longer suppress his gentle nature.

that is why we see him after the fight, tearfully and unabashedly announce his concern for his commarads that were killed by muzan, for the hashira and for tanjiro who is his dear friend. meeting his mom and understanding his past and where he came from, allows him to see himself as a complete and loved human not a feral animal.

Two younger twin sisters of Kiriya. They are helping him with the Demon Slayer Corps.

Ubuyashiki Kagaya (Deceased)

The previous head of the Ubuyashiki family and the father of Kiriya. He had passed away during the war 8 years ago.

Kiriya's mother, Amane, and two of his older twin sisters, Hinaki and Nichika, had passed away along with his father during the war 8 years ago.

Kochou Kanae (14)

Breathing Style: Water, later Flower

When she was 12, her parents were killed by demons while her younger sister got turned. Luckily, both of them got saved by the Water Hashira Makomo. Makomo then sent them to her previous master, Urokodaki.

Kochou Shinobu (13)

She is Kanae's younger sister who was turned into a demon. Luckily, she retained some control and did not devour her sister. With the help of a special serum developed by Nezuko and Yushirou, Shinobu now only needs a bit of blood and mostly sleep to survive.

Shinazugawa Sanemi (14)

Breathing Style: Wind

He is the younger brother of the Devour Hashira Genya and a student of the Wind Hashira Yuichirou. He was in the same final selection as Kanae and later became a traveling company of hers.

He joined the Demon Slayer Corps without telling his older brother Genya about it.

Kumeno Masachika (16)

Breathing Style: Wind

He is Sanemi's friend. He also is Sanemi's senior student and the Tsuguko of the Wind Hashira Yuichirou.

Sabito (14)

Breathing Style: Water

He is one of the former Water Hashira Urokodaki's students and the Tsugoku of the Water Hashira Makomo. He was very talented and had beheaded a Lower Moon within only two months after joining the Corp. Funnily enough, Sabito left for his first mission just a few days before Kanae and Shinobu's arrival at Urokodaki's place. They barely missed meeting each other.

Tomioka Giyuu (14)

Breathing Style: Water

He is the third student and the supposed Tsuguko of the Sun Hashira Tanjirou.

When he was 10, his older sister was killed by a demon while protecting him. Giyuu had snapped and killed the demon himself. The villagers did not believe in his story about demons and deemed him mentally unstable. He spent a whole year in a hospital before he was found by Nezuko. Later, she sent him to her brother, Tanjirou.

Tanjirou had sent Giyuu to Urokodaki so the boy could learn the foundation and start with Water Breathing. Giyuu had met Sabito there.

Giyuu, despite passing his final selection, felt like he did not as he was injured by the first demon and got saved by Sabito, spending the next week in a daze and not killing any demon.

He later switched from doing a demon slayer job to being a member of the Snow Mansion, helping other slayers in their recovery.

Murata (15)

Breathing Style: Water

A normal slayer who was in the same final selection with Sabito and Giyuu. He doesn’t know it but both Sabito and Giyuu think of him as their friends and that he’s reliable.

Iguro Obanai (14)

Breathing Style: Serpent

He is the Tsugoku of the Flower Hashira Kanao. He was in the same final selection as Kanae.

Four years ago, Obanai was saved by the Sun Hashira Tanjirou from the Snake Demon. He was then sent to the Snow Mansion for recovery. The Flower Hashira Kanao later took him in as her student.

Obanai did not like Giyuu since he found out that the other boy, despite his talent in slaying demons, had stopped giving his all, thus disrespecting his savior, Tanjirou's efforts.

Rengoku Kyoujurou (12)

Breathing Style: Flame

He is the younger brother and the Tsuguko of the Flame Hashira Senjurou. He was in the same final selection as Kanae and later became a traveling company of hers.

He wished to quickly become stronger to help his older brother.

Uzui Tengen (16)

Breathing Style: Sound

He is the Tsuguko of the Thunder Hashira Zenitsu. A year ago, after escaping his Shinobi family, he was invited to join the Corps by Kiriya along with his three fiancees.

Kanroji Mitsuri (13)

Breathing Style: Love

She is the Tsuguko of the former Flower Hashira Sayo. She was in the same final selection as Kanae and later became a traveling company of hers.

Two years ago, Kanroji's whole village was massacred by the new Upper Moon Number Six Kaigaku. She was saved by the former Flower Hashira Sayo who was still a Hashira at that time.

Kanroji developed a crush on Obanai after he saved her during their final selection.

Ayaki Utsuki (12)

Breathing Style: Star

She is the adopted daughter of Ayaki Rui and the former Flower Hashira Sayo. She was in the same final selection as Uzui.

Her Star Breathing style was an old style that derived from both Flame Breathing and Thunder Breathing.

Sun Hashira - Kamado Tanjirou (23)

Breathing Style: Sun (Water, Flame, and Wind)

Kamado Tanjirou is the current Sun Hashira and the current strongest demon slayer. He was a student of the former Water Hashira Urokodaki and the former Flame Hashira Shinjurou.

When Tanjirou was 13, his mother and siblings were killed by Muzan while his younger sister, Nezuko was turned into a demon. They encountered the Water Hashira Makomo who let them go after witnessing Nezuko's self-control despite just being turned. She also sent them to Urokodaki. Tanjirou spent a year and a half training with Urokodaki and learning the Water Breathing, and passed the final selection. After two months of being a demon slayer, Tanjirou managed to start to use the Hinokami Kagura. He caught the eyes of the former Flame Hashira Shinjurou who later taught him the Flame Breathing. The former Wind Hashira also taught Tanjirou her Wind Breathing.

A year after Tanjirou became a demon slayer, the war happened. They failed to kill Muzan and most Hashiras were killed during it. Tanjirou survived the war after killing off Akaza with Shinjurou and managed to hold off Muzan for a while. He got promoted to a Hashira after that.

Tanjirou was the one who saved the Mist Hashira Tokito Muichirou and the Wind Hashira Tokito Yuichirou when they were 11 and taught them Wind Breathing. He also was the one who saved Iguro Obanai and taught Tomioka Giyuu.

Tanjirou spent most of the time on missions and rarely socialized anymore.

Mist Hashira - Tokito Muichirou (18)

Breathing Style: Mist

Tokito Muichirou is the current Mist Hashira. He is the younger twin brother of the Wind Hashira Yuichirou.

When he and Yuichirou were 11, they were attacked by a demon and were saved by the Sun Hashira Tanjirou. Tanjirou later taught the two of them Wind Breathing. While Yuichirou stayed with Wind Breathing, Muichirou switched to Mist Breathing as it fit him better. Both Muichirou and Yuichirou managed to become Hashiras only after 2 months of training.

Muichirou really adores and admires Tanjirou much to Yuichirou's bewilderment. Tanjirou finds this very cute as the twins remind him of his younger siblings.

Muichirou also gets along with the Devour Hashira Genya.

Wind Hashira - Tokito Yuichirou (18)

Breathing Style: Wind

Tokito Yuichirou is the current Wind Hashira. He is the older twin brother of the Mist Hashira Muichirou. He also is the teacher of Kunemo Masachika and Shinazugawa Sanemi. Masachika is his Tsuguko.

When he and Muichirou were 11, they were attacked by a demon and were saved by the Sun Hashira Tanjirou. Tanjirou later taught the two of them Wind Breathing. While Muichirou switched to Mist Breathing, Yuichirou stayed with Wind Breathing. Both Muichirou and Yuichirou managed to become Hashiras only after 2 months of training.

Muichirou really adores and admires Tanjirou much to Yuichirou's bewilderment. Yuichirou actually also adores and admires Tanjirou but he does not show it blatantly like Muichirou. Tanjirou finds this very cute as the twins remind him of his younger siblings.

Yuichirou doesn't really like the Devour Hashira Genya both because of Muichirou liking him and his situation with his student, Sanemi.

Thunder Hashira - Agatsuma Zenitsu (21)

Breathing Style: Thunder

Agatsuma Zenitsu is the current Thunder Hashira. He was a student of the former Thunder Hashira Jigorou. He also is the teacher of Uzui Tengen who is his Tsuguko. He was in the same final selection as Kanao, Inosuke, and Genya.

During the war 8 years ago, he hadn't passed the final selection yet. After the death of his master/gramp, Zenitsu became cold and determined to avenge for him. He managed to become a Hashira with only 6 months after he passed the final selection. He is always on the hunt for his previous senior student, the new Upper Moon Number Six Kaigaku.

On one of his missions, he was paired with the Beast Hashira Hashibira Inosuke who was not a Hashira yet at that time. They encountered Nezuko and saved her. Inosuke recognized her as the Sun Hashira Tanjirou's sister. One thing led to another and Zenitsu ended up falling for Nezuko. He became lively again because of her. They kept in touch.

Zenitsu always admires and respects Tanjirou. He and Inosuke can also be called friends despite how they annoy each other.

Flower Hashira - Tsuyuri Kanao (21)

Breathing Style: Flower

Tsuyuri Kanao is the current Flower Hashira. She was a student of the former Ice Hashira Kotoha along with the Ice Hashira Aoi. She was in the same final selection as Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Genya.

When she was little, Kanao was saved and adopted by Kotoha along with Aoi. She and Aoi consider each other as sisters. During the war 8 years ago, she hadn't passed the final selection yet. She became a Hashira a year after passing the final selection.

Kanao surprisingly got along with the Beast Hashira Inosuke. She was the one who recognized his name and him as Kotoha's missing son when he first visited the Snow Mansion.

Kanao likes and admires the Sun Hashira Tanjirou since he was the one who broke her out of her shell way back when he first met her years ago.

Iguro Obanai is her Tsuguko. He didn't know that a part of the reason she took him under her wings was because of Tanjirou asking her.

Water Hashira - Makomo (25)

Breathing Style: Water

Makomo is the current Water Hashira. She was a student of the former Water Hashira Urokodaki. Sabito is her Tsugoku. Makomo was the one who saved both the Kamado siblings, Tanjirou and Nezuko, and the Kochou sisters, Kanae and Shinobu.

Makomo is the oldest Hashira among the current Hashiras both in terms of age and seniority. She was the only Hashira who survived the war 8 years ago. She became a Hashira at the age of 15. It was a bit before she met the Kamado siblings.

Makomo loves and adores Tanjirou and Nezuko. She considers them her younger siblings. She gets worried about how overworked and unsociable the Sun Hashira Tanjirou is these days. She also still keeps in touch with Nezuko.

She is training Sabito to replace her soon as she feels like her health is declining fast due to her unlocking her Demon Slayer Mark during the war 8 years ago.

Beast Hashira - Hashibira Inosuke (20)

Breathing Style: Beast

Hashibira Inosuke is the current Beast Hashira. He was the lost son of the former Ice Hashira Kotoha. He was in the same final selection as Zenitsu, Kanao, and Genya.

Inosuke grew up in the mountains, raised by wild boars. His breathing style, Beast Breathing was self-taught. During the war 8 years ago, he hadn't passed the final selection yet. It took him one year and six months to become a Hashira after he passed the final selection.

Inosuke didn't know about his mother until he visited the Snow Mansion after getting injured during a mission. It was the Flower Hashira Kanao who recognized his name to inform him about his mother.

Inosuke can be considered friends with Zenitsu and Kanao. He also feels all warmth with the Sun Hashira Tanjirou who keeps treating Inosuke kindly.

Inosuke likes to spend time with the Ice Hashira Aoi as she cooks for him, rambles about her research or tells him about his mother.

Devour Hashira - Shinazugawa Genya (21)

Breathing Style: None (Gun)

Shinazugawa Genya is the current Devour Hashira. He is the older brother of Shinazugawa Sanemi. He was a student of the former Stone Hashira Gyomei along with the former Flower Hashira Sayo. He was in the same final selection as Zenitsu, Kanao, and Inosuke.

When he was 12, he had to kill his mother who had turned into a demon and killed most of his younger siblings. His younger brother Sanemi seemed to have forgotten the whole thing as a trauma response and insisted that from the start, their family only consisted of him and Genya. They got taken in by the former Stone Hashira Gyomei with Genya as his student.

During the war 8 years ago, he hadn't passed the final selection yet. Genya became a Hashira two years ago after the former Flower Hashira Sayo retired.

Genya keeps in touch with Sayo and Nezuko whom he sometimes checks up with about his digesting demon power. Genya gets along well with the Mist Hashira Muichirou. He doesn't understand why the Wind Hashira Yuichirou seems to hate him. He didn't know about Sanemi joining the Demon Slayer Corps yet.

Genya admires and respects the Sun Hashira Tanjirou. They talked sometimes.

Flame Hashira - Rengoku Senjurou (17)

Breathing Style: Flame

Rengoku Senjurou is the current Flame Hashira. He was the son of the former Flame Hashira Shinjurou and the older brother of Rengoku Kyoujurou. He was in the same final selection as Aoi.

Senjurou passed the final selection three years ago and became a Hashira roughly a year ago.

His younger brother Kyoujurou is Senjurou's Tsuguko. Senjurou always deems Kyoujurou more talented and better suited to inherit the Flame Hashira title than him.

Senjurou and the Ice Hashira Aoi get along well as they teamed up during their final selection.

Senjurou admires, respects, and gets along very well with the Sun Hashira Tanjirou. They usually spare as Tanjirou helps Senjurou with Flame Breathing. Senjurou considers Tanjirou as his teacher despite Tanjirou's denial.

Ice Hashira - Kanzaki Aoi (18)

Breathing Style: Ice, Water

Kanzaki Aoi is the current Ice Hashira. She was a student of the former Ice Hashira Kotoha along with the Flower Hashira Kanao. She was in the same final selection as Senjurou.

When she got orphaned at a young age, it was Kotoha who adopted her. She grew up with Kanao and considers her her sister.

Aoi passed the final selection three years ago and became a Hashira roughly six months ago.

Aoi inherits the Ice Breathing from Kotoha. Kotoha had created Ice Breathing from Flower Breathing. It cooperates with the use of poisons. Aoi also studies and researches poisons like how Kotoha used to do. She is the current owner of the Snow Mansion.

Aoi and the Flame Hashira Senjurou get along well as they teamed up during their final selection.

Aoi likes spending time with the son of her master, the Beast Hashira Inosuke. She respects and admires the Sun Hashira Tanjirou. She is worried about his overworking habit.

Water - Urokodaki Sakonji

Breathing Style: Water

He is the former Water Hashira and the teacher of Makomo, Kamado Tanjirou, Sabito, Tomioka Giyuu, and Kochou Kanae.

Thunder - Kuwajima Jigorou (Deceased)

Breathing Style: Thunder

He is the former Thunder Hashira and the teacher of Kaigaku and Agatsuma Zenitsu. He had committed seppuku when Kaigaku became a demon 8 years ago.

Flame - Rengoku Shinjurou (Deceased)

Breathing Style: Flame

He is the former Flame Hashira and the father of Rengoku Senjurou and Rengoku Kyoujurou. He had passed away in the war 8 years ago after receiving fatal injuries while battling the previous Upper Moon Number Three Akaza.

Stone - Himejima Gyomei (Deceased)

Breathing Style: Stone

He is the former Stone Hashira. He also was the adopted father of Himejima Sayo and the teacher of her and Shinazugawa Genya. He had passed away in the war 8 years ago after unlocking the Demon Slayer Mark.

Ice - Hashibira Kotoha (Deceased)

Breathing Style: Ice

She is the former Ice Hashira and the mother of Hashibira Inosuke. She also was the teacher of Tsuyuri Kanao and Kanzaki Aoi. She was the previous owner of the Snow Mansion. She had passed away in the war 8 years ago. She was killed by the Upper Moon Number Two Douma.

During the preparation for the war 8 years ago, he had worked with Lady Tamayo to create a lot of poisons that helped the slayers a lot. They did attempt to create a cure to reverse demons back to humans but didn't manage to.

Kotoha had a history with Douma and was separated from Inosuke because of him. She never had the chance to meet Inosuke again after she let him go when he was a baby.

Flower - Himejima Sayo (22)

Breathing Style: Flower

She is the former Flower Hashira and the teacher of Kanroji Mitsuri and Ayaki Utsuki. Mitsuri is her Tsuguko while Utsuki also is her adopted daughter. She used to be the Tsuguko of the former Stone Hashira Gyomei and later became a Hashira after he passed away.

During her encounter with the new Upper Moon Number Six Kaigaku, Sayo got blinded after overusing the Flower Breathing's final form while also got seriously injured that she retired after that battle.

Sayo had unlocked her Demon Slayer Mark so she would not live passed 25.

She is married to her husband Ayaki Rui.

Sayo still kept in touch with her fellow student under Gyomei, the Devour Hashira Genya. She is worried about Genya and Sanemi a lot, and considers them as her younger siblings. She got along pretty well with the Sun Hashira Tanjirou and other Hashiras when she was still a Hashira.

Kamado Nezuko (20)

She is the younger sister of the Sun Hashira Tanjirou.

When she was 10, her family besides Tanjirou got attacked by Muzan and she had been turned into a demon. Luckily, she had managed to break free from Muzan’s control. She and Tanjirou encountered the Water Hashira Makomo who let them go after witnessing Nezuko's self-control despite just being turned. She also sent them to Urokodaki.

Later, Nezuko had managed to conquer the sun. She also regained her consciousness after Muzan got weakened during the battle 8 years ago.

Because Tamayo and the previous Ice Hashira Kotoha never managed to perfect the cure that turned demons back to humans, Nezuko is still a demon. She is now traveling with Yushirou while trying to complete the cure.

Nezuko and Tanjirou had a fall-out when Nezuko talked about wanting to stay as a demon after she regained her consciousness. They rarely talked anymore. (But they still very much love each other.)

Nezuko met Zenitsu and Inosuke by coincidence after Zenitsu saved her. She also kept in touch with Zenitsu, Genya and Makomo from time to time by letters.

Yushirou

He always had a sorrowful aura now after Tamayo passed away during the war 8 years ago.

He currently travels with Nezuko. He and Kiriya are friends now. He usually sent messages to Kiriya to chat, Aoi for the cure's research, and Tanjirou to update him about Nezuko.

Ayaki Rui (25)

He is the husband of the former Flower Hashira Sayo and the adoptive father of Ayaki Utsuki.

When he was a child, he was very sick. It was Lady Tamayo who cured him. Thank to her, he got better and chose to become an apothecary and a herbalist. He is helping Nezuko with the cure by giving her supplies.

Tamayo (Deceased)

She had sacrificed herself during the war 8 years ago.

Demons - Upper Moon ▼

Demon King - Kibutsuji Muzan (Weakened)

He is the first demon and the current Demon King. However, he had gotten weakened a lot during the all-out war 8 years ago between demons and the Demon Slayer Corps. He is now trying to hide while hunting for Nezuko.

Kokushibo

He still is the Upper Moon Number One.

Douma (Weakened)

He still is the Upper Moon Number Two. However, after consuming the previous Ice Hashira Hashibira Kotoha during the war, he is now slowly being killed by a special poison that Kotoha had injected into her body.

Akaza (Gone)

During the war 8 years ago, he had encountered the former Flame Hashira Shinjurou and Kamado Tanjirou who was a normal slayer back then. After battling with Shinjurou to death, Akaza was beheaded by Tanjirou. He later self-destructed after regaining his memory when he was a human.

Nakime (Gone)

She got killed by Muzan after Yushirou tried to control her during the war 8 years ago.

Hantengu - Gyokko - Gyotaro - Daki (Gone)

They all got beheaded during the war 8 years ago. Tamayo and Kotoha's poison had helped the Corps weaken them a lot.

Kaigaku

Kaigaku was a student of the former Thunder Hashira. He became a demon a bit before the war 8 years ago. He later became the new Upper Moon Number Six.

Ever since he almost got beheaded by Zenitsu, Kaigaku grew scared of him.

Fue | Uzui Utaji

Fue is the new Upper Moon Number Five. He was Uzui Tengen’s younger brother, Uzui Utaji. He did not really have his memory when he was a human but he held conflicted feelings about Uzui Tengen.

“I’m going to eat you…” Douma sat with his legs crossed. He held the tiny, chubby, nutrient-rich infant over his mouth, his fangs glistening. He grinned, letting go of the child and letting him free fall, catching him in his cradled arms at the last minute. The child merely squealed happily. It was very amusing to him, how small and feeble humans were. He could easily devour it in one bite, but he knew that Kotoha would not be too pleased with that. And Douma simply couldn’t let such a pretty face be sullied with tears.

“You’re such an insignificant little thing, aren’t you?” Holding the boy in one arm, he ran his clawed finger down its face. If he pushed just a little harder, the child would bleed. It was hard for Douma to be delicate. The child grabbed his finger, putting it in his mouth.

Douma’s eyes widened, cocking his head to the side as he hummed in question. “Are you trying to eat me?” Douma couldn’t remember a time in his childhood where he wasn’t worshipped, so he wasn’t quite sure how normal children grew up. He grinned.

“Maybe when you’re a little older,” Douma placed his other pointer in his own mouth, piercing it with his teeth. He dangled it right above the boy as the blood welled up into a little sphere.

“I’ll share some of Lord Muzan’s blood with you, and you can live with me forever.” He whispered, eyes brightening at his idea. But he licked the blood away before the droplet fell. He sighed.

“However, I don’t think you’d survive the transformation right now.” He looked up at the ceiling, finger against his chin in thought. “You’d probably melt.” He looked down at the boy. “Right?”

The infant babbled back, making Douma smile. Humans were so much more interesting in their truest form; tiny helpless creatures. No wealth, or strength, or pride to hide behind. No pretending to be wise, or kind, or anything they weren’t. Crying when they’re hungry. Unable to function without a protector. In a way, Douma wished all of his worshippers were infants, instead of self-entitled, prideful bastards. It would make taking care of them a lot easier.

“Um, Lord Douma?” Speak of the devil.

“Yes~?” Douma set the boy down on the floor, letting him crawl as Douma laid on his stomach, watching him intently. He propped his head up on his arms. The baby crawled towards him, reaching a chubby hand up and grasping strands of Douma’s hair. He shoved the whole fist of hair in his mouth.

Toothless, and yet still trying to eat everything. What interesting determination.

Douma’s follower bowed his head. “There are people who would like to see you now.” He spoke quietly. Douma didn’t even look his way, pulling his hair away from the baby’s mouth.

“I will not be seeing anyone today.” Douma spoke casually. The man straightened suddenly.

“But sir, these people have been patiently waiting for their opportunity to meet with you-” “I must’ve not spoken loud enough.” Douma gave him a smile that should be sweet, but felt nothing like it.

He diverted his attention back to the infant, lifting him into the air. “I’ll repeat myself, I will not be seeing anyone today!” He spoke loudly, an edge to his voice that had his follower’s hand trembling. The man bowed again.

“Of course sir, I’ll let them know right away.” As the man turned to leave, he ran into a woman. She fell from the impact, the stuff in her hands dropping to the floor. The man scoffed. It was the woman taking the lord’s attention away from his subjects. Her and her wretched child.

“Get out of the way, pet.” That’s what she was, Lord Douma’s plaything for the time. Eventually he would tire of her and then throw her back out into the forest where she belonged. Before she arrived, Lord Douma never left his subjects to their own whims. It aggravated the man. Who was she, compared to him? He was one of Lord Douma’s chosen priests, spreading his words to his followers. She was just some harlot.

“Now now,” Douma’s voice licked up the man’s spine, causing his hairs to stand on end.

“That is not how we speak to lovely young women, is it?” In a moment, Douma towered over the man, standing beside Kotoha who was picking up the fruits that had been scattered across the floor. She placed them quietly into her basket.

Douma noticed her motions. “Stop moving Kotoha.” He spoke softly, but held all the command. Kotoha stilled, and Douma’s eyes slid lazily back to the man. Douma held the child against his chest. “I thought I taught my subjects how to show proper respect.” He furrowed his brows, pouting with disappointment.

The stench of fear filled Douma’s nose, and his expression faded into his easy smile. He snapped his fingers. “I know how to fix this.” He motioned one of his hands towards the ground, where Kotoha sat frozen.

“Pick them up for her,” the man stood silently. “Now.” The man dropped to the ground, hastily grabbing the basket out of Kotoha’s hands and filling it haphazardly with the fruits that were strewn everywhere.

Kotoha watched with wide eyes as the man filled the basket with all of the fallen fruits, sitting up on his knees once he was finished. Having been with Lord Douma for over a month, she still couldn’t tell if his subjects’ blind obedience to him was out of respect for him, or fear of him. He seemed well-enough liked by them, and for as long as she’d been around him, he had been nothing but kind to her and her son.

But the situation was very tense, and even with Douma’s nonchalance, it was obvious that the man was terrified of upsetting him. “Kotoha.” There it was, that indescribable switch in his aura, when he spoke to her. She looked up at him.

“Yes, my lord?” He smiled at her. It was his most common expression. She recalled the way he had been smiling when her husband and his mother had died.

He outstretched his hand to her. “Stand up darling.” It was his nickname for her, and a part of her couldn’t tell if he used it to taunt her, to remind her of her abusive dead husband, or if it was his way of trying to make up for the loss of the man who was supposed to protect her.

She took his hand, always cool to the touch, and stood. He had her son cradled in one arm. Even with a child in his grasp, he exuded a tremendous air of power. The man bowed, head to the floor as his muffled voice rang out.

“My apologies my lord! I was not thinking, I should have treated her with the utmost respect. She is an important member of our temple-” Douma began to laugh. It was unnerving, echoing out into the silence of the room.

Kotoha touched his arm in concern. “My lord?” She asked gently.

“Why are you apologizing to me? I’m not the one you were so disgustingly rude to.” He stepped behind Kotoha, grabbing her by the arm. He lowered his face to her shoulder, voice dangerously low.

“It’s your lady you should be apologizing to.” He murmured, breath tickling Kotoha’s ear. She felt her heart pounding. The man’s eyes finally drifted to hers, wide with shock and disdain towards her. He was quiet.

“Well? Lady Kotoha is growing rather impatient.” Douma stood straight, crossing his arms. The man stared at Kotoha, slowly sinking back to the ground. “There you go~” Douma encouraged, voice barely above a whisper.

“Hashibira Kotoha, my-my lady. Please accept my apology for my deplorable behavior toward you earlier. I will not let it happen again.” His voice was strained. He had no desire to do this for Kotoha, but he did it anyways. Out of fear. Kotoha staggered a step, but Douma placed a firm hand against her back, pushing her closer to the prostrating man.

“So, what do you say darling? Do you accept his apology?” Kotoha felt his hand twitching against the small of her back. His eyes glistened menacingly, the same way they did after mutilating her husband. She knew that if she wasn’t quick with her response, something would happen to this man, something bad.

“I-I do!! I forgive him!” She blurted. She felt Douma’s hand still, his shoulders slumping as he sighed. Had he, wanted to punish the man?

He placed his hand on his hip. “Well, you heard her. Now, get out.” The man scrambled out of his way. She heard his silent thank you as he left.

It was as if nothing had happened, the way he lifted her son into the air, giggling as the boy did the same.

“Kotoha, darling, remind me of his name again?” Kotoha smiled softly, walking behind him towards the center of the room.

“Inosuke.”

“Ah, yes. Little Inosuke. The little demon.” His nickname for her son made her giggle. She carefully took him out of Douma’s arms, cuddling him close to her face. He smelled sweet, faintly of a scent similar to the sweetness that poured off of Douma. The way plants smelled sweet to attract prey. It made her realize just how much time Douma spent with Inosuke.

“What are the fruits for?” Douma sat beside the basket that Kotoha had placed on the floor. Kotoha sank down and joined him, placing Inosuke on the floor beside her. Inosuke instantly grabbed a plum, putting it in his mouth and sucking on it. Douma stabbed one with his finger, looking at it curiously.

“Oh, I saw them at the market I visited. They were just so fresh, I had to bring some back for us.” She blushed. Douma glanced at her.

“For us?” He repeated. Kotoha nodded. “You’re welcome to eat them with us.”

Douma smirked. “I am actually quite full, but I am touched that you thought of me. In fact,” Douma scooped Inosuke back into his arms. It seemed he could not tire of her son.

“How about you eat, and I’ll spend time with the little demon.” Kotoha grinned. She was grateful for Douma’s kindness, as strange as the atmosphere was sometimes. Kotoha watched Douma take the plum out of Inosuke’s mouth, crushing it in his hand, and letting Inosuke eat the soft inside.

Kotoha could picture herself living beside Douma for a long, long time.

Sorry for the double douma asks but I can't help but keeping thinking about little douma! I was wondering if you could possibly do a little douma drabble with cg kotoha? I was thinking it could be about the first time douma really regresses around her and kotoha being a complete mama bear at heart takes it all in stride! This has been going around in mind for a bit and I think that it's adorable! ^^ (as always 0 pressure to do this!!)

“I don’t understand why you care for him so much, he can’t even do anything.” Douma prodded Inosuke with a sharp finger. The baby simply giggled when his cheek was poked, a horrible survival instinct. Trying to grab the offending object Inosuke missed several times. When he finally caught the finger Douma quickly pulled it away.

Despite the harsh display Kotoha just laughed. “He’s precious to me. I have to be there precisely because he needs me.” She bends over to scoop up the boy. Once she settles back his chubby little feet dangle right above Douma’s head.

“Aren’t I precious to you too?” He’s not sure why he asks. Douma is the most precious man within the building. Kotoha touches him gently like he’s crafted from gold.

“Of course you are.” Her eyes soften. Fingers run through his hair again. She traces the edge of the insignia on his head. “How come I can’t have two nice boys to care for?”

The man’s eyes slip closed. “I don’t like to share.” He scoots back as Inosuke attempts to kick him. “Can’t you just be my mama?” Douma doesn’t know why he phrases it that way. He supposes if he is to stand in opposition of the baby then Kotoha must be in the position of mother for the both of them. It just makes sense that way.

“Oh come here.” She scoops his head into her free hand and places a kiss upon his forehead. Inosuke happily babbles nonsense and tugs on the blonde strands of hair that scatter over his face.

Her honest response was strange, wasn’t this all just a joke? He’d play along for now. Kotoha’s hand brushing along his face was nice. Usually his followers wouldn’t be this close to him save for sex.

“I suppose Ino could go down for a nap, if it really bothers you.” A little frown forms on her lips. It’s not entirely sad, playful in a pouty sort of way. “But I’d love if my two favorite people could get along. Like little twins!”

“Tell him to stop touching me then”

“Don’t be overdramatic, he’s just curious. I think he still gets overwhelmed with all the people here.”

Douma doesn’t want to talk about the child anymore. He decides he’s fine with the chubby little fingers that poke his scalp. “Do you get overwhelmed at all?”

“Hm, I think I’ve gotten used to it now. It helps that all the girls here are so nice! And of course I have a lot to thank you for gracious founder.”

“You can call me Douma if it would please you.” His other moniker was simply given to him one day and it caught on like wildfire. Though sometimes it does feel nice to be addressed in such a grandiose way.

“Douma… It feels funny to call you that.” She giggles again, inspiring her baby to coo as well. “Thank you for having me, in general I mean, but also now. You’re so generous.”

“I am aren’t I?” He burrows closer into her lap. Of course he supplied Kotoha with a new wardrobe upon her arrival, which was mostly light cotton or soft silk. It feels nice against his shut eyes.

She takes the bait in stride. “Such a good boy, you do a good job taking care of me.” The woman attempts to wiggle out from beneath him. “Can I get into a more comfortable position?”

Grabbing tight onto her kimono for a brief moment Douma pulls in before he ultimately parts. It’s hard for Kotoha to move around on his plush mattress. She has to push through layers of pillows in all different sizes.

Instead of crossing her legs she pushes them straight out. Instead of holding her child she positions him against her side. Cushioning him with a few more pillows so he sits properly the woman frees her other arm. Stretching them out she motions for the man to fall back into her lap. He crawls over to tuck his head underneath her stomach once more. The thick layers of her obi are a little uncomfortable. He paws at the stiff fabric. When she doesn’t take the hint Douma tugs at it more stubbornly.

“Stop that, I’m not going to take my tie off.” Her words don’t hold any malice. Kotoha simply guides his hands back towards himself.

Douma turns his face into her lap. Her hands start combing through his hair again but the man isn’t quite as pleased this time.

“Don’t be sour. I’ll wear something more comfortable next time and we can cuddle. We’ll have a pajama party.” She makes a mighty attempt to push his face to the side so she can peer at his eyes again. With Douma’s inhuman strength he keeps himself rooted in place.

With a faux sad tone the woman moves past him. “Oh well, I guess Ino will get some cuddles all by himself.” The moment she reaches for her baby Douma’s hand reaches out to intertwine their fingers.

He slowly reveals her face, lips puckered and ready for a kiss. She aims for his forehead instead, fingers lightly dropping down to his cheeks. “There we go! Such a good listener.” Kotoha leans back again, other arm scooping down to cradle him.
