#3402 - Kobonga umbrimargo - Orange Clicker
First described in 1858 by English entomologist Francis Walker as Cicada umbrimargo. Hopefully not one of the many species he mistakenly described twice. On the other hand, it's quite likely a species complex, meaning it'll need to be split up anyway.
Found over large areas of semi-arid Australia, in heath, mallee and scrubland in all mainland states. Adult males cling to the upper branches of mallee eucalypts and acacias, and have a complex buzzing and clicking call.
Baldivis, Perth.
