I wanted to be on drugs for this show so bad. Maybe I wanted to relive the last time I saw them at this venue . I had the time of my life up in the nosebleeds with my best friend. Admittedly, even the adrenaline of witnessing my favorite band perform wasn't enough to move me until halfway into the set. I wish I didn't want to be on drugs so bad.

I haven't smoked weed in over a year-- 1 year, 4 weeks, 2 days, 12 hours, 32 minutes and counting. I used to get so fucked up at shows that I can't remember much of them now. One time in high school, I smoked so much weed before a Valentine's Day concert that I couldn't stand up on my own, and my twenty-something year old boyfriend (ew) had to prop me up. He was a shrimpy little thing of a manchild so I could feel him struggling to hold me after a while. I don't even remember the concert itself very much, just the embarrassment and dullness. I'm pretty sure the shrimp and I got into a fight over my faux pas later that night.

I liken the blurriness then to my memory of this show that happened 4 days ago. I wanted to be on drugs so bad that I noticed myself thinking about it while standing there. I could barely see the band and I was too aware of my proximity to the older guy next to me since I have broad shoulders and kept bumping into him from time to time.

Eventually, the film of impulse/desire fell away from my eyes, and my smile widened while I let go of the tension in my hips. I started to focus more on the guy bumping into my other shoulder-- my amazing partner, beaming at the spectacle taking place. He was singing at the top of his lungs and dancing as much as our seats allowed. We joked in between songs and whisper-shouted silly things to each other here and there, like we usually do at shows. I started to have fun for real. Still, the urge to be tripping on something poked my brain during random lulls.
