Be wary of huge, unsolicited donations through Ko-fi. Despite the fact my wife and I didn't trust it and refunded the donation of $400, the person scammed us by doing an additional chargeback through our PayPal. I'm extremely distressed right now because the original donation is gone - it never existed - this is coming from OUR money.
Unsure what to do at the moment.
Just a heads up on something that may or may not be a scam. I don't have the spoons to do any digging on it right now, but I got a random DM from "Support" about Paypal and stripe being disabled and that I would have to add a bank card if I wanted to continue to receive donations/payments.
The account was completely empty and they added a link in the message which I didn't click. Instead I logged into Ko-Fi from my bookmarks and confirmed everything is fine before blocking them. I was going to screenshot the message and report them but unfortunately blocking them has automatically nuked the DM.
I just wanted to give a little PSA in case anyone gets something like this and freaks out. I assume the end goal is to get your banking info. Idk if this is common knowledge because this is the first I'm seeing it, but yeah. I'm gonna assume this is a definite scam.
