Kohola’s Hana Butta Days on tap at the brewery in Lahaina, HI. A 3 of 4. Billed as a festbier and a slightly maltier version of their pilsner, this is basically exactly as described. A good bit of grain sweetness in the body and a faint herbal hop qualities. A nice thickness to the body, but still easy-drinking and refreshing. Doesn’t particularly stand out, but enjoyable.

Kohola Brewing’s Mean Bean Coffee Stout on tap at the brewery. A 4 of 4. A great coffee stout featuring local Maui coffee. Lighter in body, yet the nose is rich with sweet and fruity coffee notes. Drinks much the same with some nice roast malt notes, a ton of coffee in the body, and finishes dry and light. Excellent.

Kohola’s Lilikoi Saison on tap at the brewery in Lahaina, HI. A 3 of 4. The Belgian yeast is immediately recognizable and has a standard spice/lemon profile. The addition of passionfruit adds some nice tropical qualities, but is thankfully nice and subtle. Relatively restrained and easy-drinking. Tastes a bit bigger than 5.6%, and nicely has quite a lot going on.

Kohola’s Talk Story Pale Ale on tap at Pi Pizzeria in Lahaina, HI. A 3 of 4. Quite light and drinkable with some nice citrus in the nose. Some light grain sweetness in the body and some herbal hops appear alongside the more dominant citrus. Drinks bigger than it is at 4.8%, and has some nice nuance to it.
