"Oh for crying out loud- just HOLD HER HAND already! Sheesh, even I can't stand the poor build up of a cheapy written romantic comedy. I can write even better than that."
What is he even TALKING about?

"Oh for crying out loud- just HOLD HER HAND already! Sheesh, even I can't stand the poor build up of a cheapy written romantic comedy. I can write even better than that."
What is he even TALKING about?
I really never thought past outside of the killing game into other verses on what Kokichi's family life is like, because I never really had to think about it too hard (in context of verses like Talent Development, Post-game, modern au, etc)
And as far as I know from remembering him, he doesn't have a lot of direct answers from what that looks like to him (except for subtle clues as to what things are kind of like to him, passing answers off as 'none of your business' type of person bc personal answers means establishing in confronting a truth he doesn't seem to want to acknowledge) other than simply pulling bullshit out of thin air- because he's a liar LMAO
But considering that a lot of popular theories center around how he acts and how he purposefully avoids a lot of those intrusive questions (Why arent you going home to your parents for the holiday? Were you really left in a baby shoot at a police station?) I think my own conclusion when I think about how someone like him can function would be (at least how I write him) is that he definitely has at least one kind of support system.
Considering that he would be a runaway or someone who was adopted into a guardianship, he probably doesn't have a lot of trusting ties nor acknowledges that anyone is in charge of him (even when there is), getting into trouble and tagging along with his fellow 'DICE followers' to spice up a little 'fun for the moment' for a variety of reasons.
Thinking of this in a way where normally (under the circumstances that he did run away or got left behind somehow) I think it would've been assumed that people like him would've simply dropped off of the program, but maybe he uses his 'attempted independence' to try to prove that he doesn't need anyone in his past to 'take control' in a way.
He's still flunking cause higher achievements don't seem to interest him- most likely because he may deem them being 'unnecessary for him to focus on' or 'too easy to even bother'.
*taps my brain* it's still unclear, I like keeping it kind of vague because I like when the story is writing itself out more than trying to establish it (and then having to change it later anyway LOL) but... I think i'm satisfied with that.
At least for now (unless I foresee something that needs to be changed) he truly is sticking out for himself (reluctantly dragging himself back to where he's home'd bc as much as he likes to be Big Independent Important Supreme Leader of Everything (TM), he's gotta have a bed somewhere.
"Of course you can trust me with your money. I would never let anyone steal it or try robbing you broke." In the next five seconds he's about to run off with it if you don't hurry-
“One two three four, I declare a clown war!” [Shadow Milk to Kokichi]
"Five, six, seven, eight-! Open the circus tent and DOOM THEIR FATE-!"
He follows along with a bright smirk and a slight side-step in order to give a dramatic FLAIR to the reveal of their special surprise! Not only had Kokichi already prepared matching bandanas for himself (and his sugary new friend) to wear for their soon-to-be one-stage show of a lifetime, BUT he had also made sure to incorporate a little bit of wonder in the mix of the clownery that will ensue!
An array of similar colored-themed aesthetics such as the decore, favors, and whatever circus-themed snack he could get his hands on (popcorn mostly, can't forget about the candy too) all set up and ready to go, Kokichi crosses his arms and simply revels in his unique touch on a set fitting for his beloved little menace.
"Nishishi~ Well, are you proud of me? I figure that if we can set up the bait with something edible and exciting, then there's no way you'll find yourself failing in your ultimate goal! Only a supreme leader such as myself could've pulled off the most perfect clown war that's expected of him!"
Confidently drifting in his own ego, Kokichi shifts his attention at Shadow Milk.
"Well? Are you going to try out-clowing a champion of all time? You better get the best judge in all of existence, because my expertise can't be measured by any normal human standards OR measuring cups!"
Oh yeah, that's gold!
"Woow, with this indestructible slingshot and the power of this water rifle, I'll definitely be a force to be reckoned with now. Better be nice to me, or you might wake up with a surprise the next morning!"
Who the hell gave him these-- well, it's too late now. They're his now.
Honestly, this wouldn't be the first time Monodam had gotten a “complaint” about Kokichi nor it would be surprising. After all, Miu loved yapping about him to the little robot. His name was synonymous with “annoyance” and “hindrance” for his mother. And despite her ranting, Mother had picked a good gift for him: One purple locket necklace with his picture in it and one golden key necklace inside purple and green grape marked gift wrapping.
Bi - coloured bear held onto it tightly, as if the gift could fall off into the abyss and never be found in his one wrong movement. He locked his eyes on it as he marched towards the trouble - making Ultimate's room. Because he was barely paying attention in front of himself, Monodam almost missed the birthday boy's Ultimate Lab, before stopping sharply turning around. His one arm tangled around the gift gently as he knocked on the door.
“Kokichi!! Are! You! In! There?! I! Have! A! Gift! For! You!!”
(Happy birthday, Kokichi! May you eat lots of cake and drink lots of soda! Here comes your classmate's robot son, to bring you a gift! UwU
People talk, and when they talk is when rumors and words would spread like wild fire that couldn't be extinguished. Not that it mattered to him, genuinely. Kokichi himself found it hilarious (and attention-grabbing) for others to pass along on what a certain day is. At least they knew it was today, and not rudely ignore him! He would certainly make sure that divine punishment would strike them like lightning if that ever became the case!
Or, more like... he would begin to tear up and test their resolve with his insistent badgering until he got what he wanted: their attention.
Except in this instance, when he heard a sudden few 'thunks' on his door, the supreme leader had grown curious...
Those didn't sound like Kiibo's knocks, nor Kaede's or Shuichi's. Definitely not Gonta's either, or anyone else he knew. In fact, that's when he realized that the voice shuttering from the other side of the door was none other than one of those little robotic-looking cubs!
"Huh, the last time I checked, robots didn't celebrate birthdays!"
A claim he knew that could easily be dismissed by his beloved friend, of course, but whose to say he couldn't try insisting! With a few paces forward, he opens the door and peers out. No one really had the opportunity to see what his room looked like... and the cubs were no exception to this. Kokichi liked his privacy, even if he had to shoo someone away from being too nosy for their own good.
A blink... and a tilt of his head when the door shuts behind him. A gift? The liar's intrigue heightened when the bear had suggested that it was for him! How thoughtful... but everyone had to know that Kokichi wouldn't make it easy for him JUST because the small robot knew something about Kokichi without solving for it!
"Oh, is it going to bring me to my end nice and swift, Monodam-?! Or how about warping someone's memories around for the fun of it?"
An awkward and purposeful pause.
"...Just kidding~! N'aww.. you're brought a present for little ol' me? Such a good little accomplice I have~!"
With a watchful gaze for a moment, the liar turns his attention to the box that the bear was holding. He wouldn't tell this to Monodam, of course, but... accepting a box all alone from the robot seemed pretty suspicious, right? Well, if it was any harm, then it better be a good one for him to let himself open it without a care.
After getting through the ribbon and box, Kokichi seemed to pause when he spots that the gift inside... is actually two different gifts altogether. One was a purple locket... with a picture of him in it? The other was a golden key, both necklaces that were intended for him to wear.
He looks at both gifts for a moment. Seemingly unreadable, as if looking at both gifts with indifference in the moment of plucking them out of their box. He makes no move to put them on... but he does end up taking a look at both of them even closer. The chain delicately slipping around his fingers, as if it expected for him to hold them both within his palm.
"I get it, you want me to steal someone's heart by unlocking it with my own key, riiight~? Nishishi~ Monodam truly thinks I can get away with murder by playing with the hearts of non-robots."
His smirk playful, Kokichi pockets the necklaces and simply gives the robot bear a pleased grin. Even a pat on the head!
"Don't worry, I won't fail you if you're that insistent in me having these. Just don't tell anyone i'm about to pull the ultimate gamer move that will still their hearts till the very last beat. Then, they'll be my mindless playthings in order to get to the REAL prize!"
A pause.
"Or, i'm lying to you and I might try something else entirely. Either way, i'll make sure that you get your credit for this for giving me your tribute. It's the most generous I've ever been, so count your little lucky stars in that motorized mind of yours!"
A few pats on the head, Kokichi spins dramatically and attempts to slip back into his room. Except, before he does, he glances back at the robot in question and feels his smirk widen ever so slightly.
"Your supreme leader will forever remember this generosity as a sign of mercy- but will I give that to you in return...?"
The greatest mystery of all that only Kokichi would know.
Quickly writes something on a strip of paper, folds it into the perfect star and sneaks it into someone else's jar while no one else is looking.
"I don't know what you're talking about. A supreme leader doesn't make wishes. They make a point and there's a difference."
"Awww, looks like our residential sleepy head has finally broken his sleeping beauty spell. Just in time, you're so boring when you look like a body in a morgue. I almost thought I was going to have to leave an offering to capture your soul in a séance."
What's that behind his back? That's for him to know, and for Takumi ( @braveryhearted ) to (maybe) find out.
