Her Fascination, Princess Twilight

no bonus version this time, but i do have some rambling below the cut!

as the youngest of the four alicorns, twilight chose to take the title 'princess' due to her discomfort of being considered royalty at all. even after she takes over for celestia and luna after their retirement, she insists on continuing to be referred to as princess twilight.

despite being the princess of magic, twilight doesn't really have the colorful, awe-inspiring changes in her mane as the other alicorns - but make no mistake, this is also a display of her own power, to be able to refuse to let it change her body. when her control slips, her hair turns into a pure, semi-transparent veil of shimmering light and color, a sight that is most rare and beautiful...and humiliating for twilight herself. i just didn't really want to draw it at the moment, but maybe someday

and that's the conclusion of my princess chibi series - onto the mane 6! i'll be posting all 4 princesses together shortly :)

Her Grace, Queen Luna

bonus versions (and some rambling) below the cut~

here's the second princess in my chibi series, luna! i'm so incredibly pleased with how she turned out; there were some deviations in design from the princess redesign base edit i made, but regardless, luna turned out amazingly well.

now for her alternate versions!

above is her appearance during a solar eclipse, during the height of her power. during the time that the eclipse is at its strongest, luna is a formidable sorceress and is near-invincible in battle - even moreso than she already is, anyways, given her skill when it comes to wielding complex magic.

by contrast, here is what she looks like without her magic (whether through the occurrence of a lunar eclipse, or having her magic stolen by force). her magical hair just turns into long, dark locks of normal hair, and she struggles to cast any spells at all.

Her Devotion, Empress Cadance

as always, bonus version and some rambling below the cut!

though her hair isn't quite the brilliant show of power like the sisters', cadance has other manifestations of her own magic shown in her design. after saving the crystal empire from king sombra (with help from twilight, of course), cadance came away with the brilliant blues in her wings and hair.

a lot of ponies take this as a sign she was meant to be their empress. she has been touched with the magic of the crystal heart, after all...and who could protest against the idea of having the very embodiment of love as their leader?
