Bounding into the dorm with arms full of shopping bags, Kokoro calls out, “Momo-chan! Runa-chan!”
There’s no answer for a few moments, but eventually Runa leaves his room. He’s holding a mug full of what Kokoro assumed was tea, but he didn’t really care as he holds up the bags. Runa frowns.
“Momo’s out,” he says simply, before trying to edge back into his own room.
“Stop right there!” Kokoro shouts, and Runa sighs. He knows what’s coming. Kokoro had forcefully dressed Momo and Runa up many times, often oozing kind words and affection, but this time it was just Runa and Momo wasn’t here.
It wasn’t that Runa hated getting dressed up by Kokoro, but the outfits he chose could often be complex and difficult to get on, and Kokoro was very impatient, so the two didn’t mix. Not only that, Runa wasn’t used to cross-dressing yet. He was very fine and comfortable in his own capris and blazer, but he had to make some sacrifices. After all, he couldn’t say no to Kokoro, he could be quite cute sometimes. Not only that, but he also had to admit that Kokoro’s praise was a nice thing to hear.
“Come on,” the ‘on’ is dragged out and Runa sighs before stepping out into the living room and setting his mug down on the coffee table. Grinning ear-to-ear, Kokoro ties his hair up into a bun, setting his hands on his hips when he finishes. “Great! I really only went out for inspiration so I could design our next live outfits, but I got a little distracted and I had the company’s credit card, so.” Seeing the disappointment in Runa’s face, Kokoro laughs sheepishly. “That’s not the point! I got cute clothing for you and Momo-chan and I need to know if it fits and slash or looks good, and if not I’ll return it tomorrow. Do you know when Momo-chan will be back?”
Runa shakes his head. “No, Momo went to Kanata-san’s and honestly, who knows when he’ll be back. Remember that time he spent a whole weekend there? Honestly...how good of friends are they?”
“...friends? Oh, Runa-chan no, they’re dating. They have been almost since the beginning of your school year here,” Kokoro sets the bags down, bending down so he could root through one. “They’re real cute! They have tea-parties for their stuffed animals and stuff. Honestly, I’m not surprised, though. They’re perfect for each other! Both are small and kind of skittish, I think. I don’t know Kanata too well, but whatever. Do you think- aha!” He pulls out a sky blue garment, pushing a strand of hair that didn’t make it into his bun behind his ear. “Here we go. I saw this and thought of you!” Pushing the thing into Runa’s arms, he twirls the boy around before pushing him into the direction of his room. “Go, go! Don’t waste time! Time is of the essence!”
So, heading into his room and shutting the door behind him, he stares down at the sparkly blue thing and wonders how exactly he’s supposed to get this on.
Kokoro is almost into hysterics.
Holding in his laughter, he presses a hand to his mouth, only letting the occasional giggle slip out. Runa-chan’s going to kill him, sure, but it will be so worth it when he sees Runa come out in a blue princess dress akin to the ones you see in Disney movies, puffy sleeves and all. Holding a plastic tiara behind his back with his free hand, he snickers again as he hears the lock click and the door open.
“Kokoro,” Runa does not sound pleased, and Kokoro snorts before asking in a voice full of laughter,
“What?”
“What. Is. This.” Stalking out of his room, his face is red in presumed anger and he doesn’t stop walking until he’s only a few feet from Kokoro, and he can’t hold in his laughter anymore. Taking a deep breath, he falls into hysterics, hand moving from his mouth to his chest.
Angry isn’t the right word.
Neither is embarrassed.
It’s some sort of mix between the two, and as Runa watches Kokoro laugh so hard he’s almost on the floor, Runa feels whatever it is flare up. Perhaps it’s his pride that’s making him feel like this, angry and embarrassed and absolutely done with Kokoro’s shit.
Suppressing his laughter for a moment, Kokoro holds up a tiara, almost giggling again as he goes, “No princess is complete without their crown, Runa-chan.”
“You-”
“Calm down~ It’s an idea for our next- oh holy shit,” Kokoro’s laughing again as he places the crown atop Runa’s head. He then curtsies, snorting again. “Your-your highness-” he can barely get the words out, before he begins laughing again.
“Hanabusa Kokoro-” Runa’s tone seems to sober him up a bit, and he jumps and falls silent almost immediately.
“D-don’t get mad! You look cute!! Like..ah, what’s that fairy tale? Cinderella? Yeah, like that! But not the, um, the cleaning part, the ball gown part? You look gorgeous! Definitely good ideas flowing through me for stage performances- oh look at the time, Kokoro has to go and clean something or other! Also dinner! I should start that! Bye!” He dashes off without another word, leaving Runa alone in the living room.
Now, Runa wasn’t rude and he definitely wasn’t raised like that, but he waits to make sure that Kokoro was really gone before reaching down to pluck one of the bags off the floor. Opening it to reach inside, he sees a blur of fabrics, mostly pink and blue, with some orange and yellow peeking through. He really did go shopping for inspiration, Runa thinks, before sighing and taking the bags into his room so he could change into something else.
