HCP! 91 Chapter Summary

Edit: I tagged this mistakenly as Chapter 90, I’ve changed it!

Hi everyone, I know I’ve been quite bad at these! Honestly, the manga hasn’t updated in almost two years ;_; which has made me lose motivation. When will we get to see Kondou/Hinamori resolved?

Disclaimer once again that my Mandarin is middle-school level so my translations might be inaccurate/very loose. If there’s anything I can translate word-for-word I’ll highlight it in italics.

Hinamori’s still trying to control his emotions, and Kondou doesn’t know how to handle the situation.

Kondou thanks Hinamori for paying for the boat’s rental fee (ahaha, this is such a Kondou thing to do.) Hinamori says it’s no problem, and that he was the one that was using the time on the boat (crying :() anyway.

Kondou notices Hinamori is putting up a front, smiling and pretending everything’s ok. When Hinamori turns away, Kondou thinks to himself “I’ll just pretend I didn’t see that.”

He thinks back to Chapter 86 when Kokusai was saying he and Chiga might come back a bit later so for Kondou to go ahead first.

Kondou asks Hinamori whether they want to do something before Chiga and Kokusai get back? He wonders to himself what he’s saying, kind of prolonging the situation, I guess.

Hinamori literally says “Yes....I’m very happy to, thank you.” ;_;

“Really, what am I doing?” Kondou asks himself.

“Then, why don’t we go for a few more rides? Can I choose?”

“Oh, I’ll look forward to it.”

Kondou suggests some ride that Hinamori might be scared of (this part I’m not sure of) and Hinamori says it’ll be his first time on the ride, and just thinking about it is making his heart beat.

Kondou grabs Hinamori’s hand on the pretense that he won’t let Hinamori run away from the ride in case he’s scared. (I honestly think Kondou is really conflicted now and only realizing he really does have feelings for Hinamori, hence him acting all hot-and-cold) Hinamori’s really dismayed at this, because he feels that Kondou can’t be act the same as he was before, as their relationship is different now.

Hinamori’s trying to get Kondou to let go and he really wants to leave :( He’s saying to Kondou, what if people from our school see?

Kondou says something akin to “If that happens we’ll just say we’re...(the word used here, 交往 is literally ‘communicating/associating’ but I googled and in context, people use it to mean ‘dating’ -- the Google image search of this word is literally of couples kissing and holding hands -- so I guess that Kondou’s saying "So what? We can just say we’re dating.” Kondou! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!)

Understandably, Hinamori’s really devastated over this. He apologizes.

Kondou says “Ok, ok. Let’s go.” but he notices Hinamori’s hand is shaking and not gripping his hand back. He doesn’t want Hinamori-san to be like this and is wondering if he’s overdone it?

That’s it! It’s actually a really sad development but maybe there’s hope. I won’t translate the Chiga/Kokusai part of this chapter unless I get enough people asking, as I’m personally not keen on their storyline. Thanks for reading!
