I have been so wrapped up in workplace drama that I forgot a chapter had dropped! 😢

Anyway, I do have the chapter now... and will be posting about it over the next several hours. But right now it's nearly 2am, and I should be asleep.

I will say here that they aren't in the smoking room in ch217; that will likely be in ch218. Ch217 finds them checking out the Royal Pavilion, hashing out lots of information that Yana-san must have gathered during her hiatus, and then them overhearing a conversation just outside the pavilion... where they are then approached by the lady from that convo. Sebastian hands her something (at our earl's nudging), but we don't see what it is.

A messenger informs the council that The White Wolf has been spotted along with a Sinclair. They are in shock at the development, realizing that the forces against them are still alive after all

The ringleader sends Jack after you

You, Amy, and Arthur have breakfast together to discuss your plans to patrol the East End. Amy asks about Mathias, further emphasising his mysterious origins and powerful nature 

You and Amy learn from Arthur that there is someone else from the treaty who is about to join you soon

Ivan finishes a plate of desserts before reading the newspaper. He leaves shortly after, than walks by a tourist (Alfred) who has no idea who, or what he is

Eurylochus swallowed hard.

He couldn’t let Zeus use that child like a tool. He couldn’t let the gods manifest another tragedy into this family.

The grief tightened in his chest as he began to turn around.

“They deserve to know,” he whispered to himself.

Ch 212: That Butler, Going South

Basically, the chapter covers Sebastian and Ciel traveling by train to Brighton, discussing the servants’ missions as Ciel enjoys breakfast in the dining car.

(Remember that all the missions are happening simultaneously more or less, so Ciel doesn’t know how successful or not they all were.)

It’s actually quite brilliant of Yana and her team to time things like this. This chapter is a great way for fans who may have lapsed during the servant arcs to catch up again, or even for new fans lured in by the anime to get a taste of the manga.

It’s also interesting to see a how a some of the scenes mirror panels/moments from previous arcs.

For example, the shot of Sebastian and Ciel on the train together is akin to the end of the circus arc. (And admire how much her art has improved!)

Later, we get a (shocking, to me, anyway) shot of Sebastian sitting at the table with Ciel as equals, reminiscent of when they ironed out the details of the contract.

The chapter begins with the two of them on the train in their first class compartment, en route to Brighton from Reading.

Sebastian, ever the conscientious butler, notices the time and mentions breakfast, but Ciel is cautious: they’re fugitives, after all. Sebastian points out that most people wouldn’t expect a criminal to be casually taking a meal in the dining car. Seeing his point (and since Ciel is driven by his stomach lol), they go to have breakfast together.

They then discuss the servants’ missions and what they expect. For example, Ciel brings up the point that Lau can only be trusted so far, and he is the one who first brought their attention to the whole mess back in the Campania arc with Karstein Hospital. And he is a mafia boss.

But, both of them acknowledge that Bard is the smartest and most capable of the four servants (Bard, Mey, Finny, Snake), and that he managed to make it to the UK all the way from America alone. Plus, he’s trustworthy. Ciel points out that’s precisely why he paired them up. (Seeing them compliment my man 😭😭… Take that, Bard haters!)

They also discuss the mission Ran Mao and Mey are undergoing and ofc Snake and Finny. (I’m sorry but I’m tired and I don’t care as much about the other servants as Bard so I’m… not going into detail on their pages. Maybe tomorrow if I have time and spoons I’ll make an add-on to this going over those pages.)

This panel is one of my fave moments in the chapter… it translates more or less like this:

Mey: For our lord

Bard: With pride

Snake: With my life on the line

Finny: I do the assigned work and see it through to the end

Despite initially being wary of leaving their compartment, when Sebastian suggests they leave the dining car, Ciel wants to stay and stretch his legs. It’s only a few hours to Brighton by train.

Looks like next week we’ll start the arc in earnest and maybe learn how they plan to infiltrate the hotel.

To gain the trust of the public and the underworld, Vos crafts a narrative that Crimson Dawn is a humanitarian organization aimed at alleviating the suffering caused by the Clone Wars. This includes distributing food, medicine, and financial aid to refugees in the Undercity.

Step 2: Mobilizing Resources

2.1. Gathering Supplies:

Crimson Dawn uses its vast resources to acquire supplies through both legal and illegal means. This could involve negotiating with sympathetic suppliers, stealing from warehouses, or even using bounty hunters to procure goods.

2.2. Distributing Aid:

Vos sets up distribution points throughout the Undercity, staffed by Crimson Dawn operatives disguised as charity workers. This provides a façade of legitimacy and allows for the gathering of intelligence on local populations and potential recruits.

Gianni gives a eulogy at his father, Gustavo’s, funeral who died in prison. He spoke about his complicated relationship with his father that at least led to the family he knows and loves today. Bria checks in on Gianni over the phone. He worries about his younger brother who wasn't in attendance but Bria reassures him. She ends the call to head into a meeting at KBE with none other than Lydia.

Ella and her friends are enjoying college life from studying to hanging out with each other and of course, dating. Ella spends a lot of time with Eric. While the girls are studying, they begin talking about their love lives. Ella is conflicted on where things are going with Eric. The girls say they need to figure it out already.

Ella asks Eric his thoughts on their relationship. He says he’s hesitant because he thought she was. They laugh at the misunderstanding. They decide to take things to the next level sealing it with a kiss!

Olivia ends up acquiring the restaurant from her childhood. She created a Selvadoradian experience in SimDonia based on her culinary training. When she gets home one day, Grayson asks how Olivia is doing. She tells him excited but also feeling unwell. They wonder if she could be pregnant. They decide to take a test which comes back negative. They're relieved because it's not a part of their plan to have kids right now but Olivia appears sad.

Jennifer’s parents and brother are over for dinner. While Jennifer steps away, Gianni asks her parents for her hand in marriage. They agree. When she gets back, Gianni asks Jennifer to marry him. She says yes!

While Bria and Emmitt share breakfast, she reveals that she met with Lydia. He tells Emmitt that Lydia asks what she wants to remain happy in the firm. Bria is defensive at first but gives her demands of allowing her to be on the board of KBE, no secrets about her kids, and allow her children freedom when they aren’t doing royal duties. Emmitt wants to know what Lydia’s response is and to his surprise she agreed to Bria's requests.

Diana is playing with Mia and Gerhard Jr when she gets a call about Lydia. Lydia informs her that things are handled with Bria. And that everything is on track for her royal treatment plan.

Lydia meets with her secret society. They begin drafting up documents to be presented to The Queen and Parliament. Their next target is a Lord.
